About this vendor
Union Oyster House is a historic Boston, MA, venue that happily hosts engagement parties, rehearsal dinners, receptions, and other wedding events. This delightful property lays rightful claim to being America's oldest restaurant and features a rustic charm and old-world vibe that make for an ideal wedding location. Romantic and private, it offers the perfect setting for an unforgettable celebration. With a selection of cozy spaces available, Union Oyster House also provides a flexibility that couples will appreciate. The dedicated team loves working with newlyweds-to-be and strives to make each celebration a seamless, memorable, and enjoyable affair.
Initially constructed in the mid-17th century, Union Oyster House exudes a historic appeal and timeless elegance. During the revolution, the building was used by the Adams, Hancock, and Quincy families, where the wives often sewed and mended clothes for the colonists. In the 19th century, the property was frequented by Former US Secretary of State Daniel Webster, where, legend has it, he drank a tall tumbler of brandy and ate a half dozen oysters every day. The restaurant also enjoyed the patronage of former US President John F. Kennedy, who loved to feast in the privacy of the upstairs dining room. The booth he sat at is still there and features a plaque in his memory.
Union Oyster House caters to weddings with between 30 - 80 guests. There are three options available for wedding celebrations. 37 Union is an intimate space that can accommodate up to 20 guests and offers couples privacy and exclusivity with their friends and loved ones. The Colonial Room boasts a quaint historic appeal and can host up to 50 people. Finally, the Heritage Room provides a more open space that can seat up to 70 attendees. All Rooms are on the 2nd floor. This hidden gem is within driving distance of Logan Airport and has good public transport options, allowing easy access for both locals and destination guests.

Union Oyster House was a pleasure to work with. We hired them for our wedding rehearsal dinner. They responded quickly when we had questions about food allergies and options. We had a lot of family traveling from out of state, so having dinner at a Boston location felt perfect. They were a breath of fresh air when the wedding process felt so chaotic. I highly recommend them.
