Union Pacific Dining Lodge
Holds ceremonies and receptions
Designed & built in 1925, the Historic Union Pacific Dining Lodge is a classic, stunning wedding venue located in West Yellowstone, Montana. Situated near the original Union Pacific train depot, it served as a large eatery, feeding the hundreds of train passengers who arrived in West Yellowstone every day to visit Yellowstone National Park. After the decline of rail travel, the building served other purposes, including housing a public library for many years and even an ice-skating rink! Now, it's a unique wedding and event space that still retains its historic character and charm.
The Union Pacific Dining Lodge boasts one-of-a-kind architecture with a cozy, rustic style, designed with locally sourced pine and rhyolite stone, exposed wood beams, and two massive fireplaces. The dancing of flames in the fireplace makes a stunning backdrop for saying "I do." Tall windows allow for natural light, casting a dreamy golden glow over your celebration and excellent lighting for memorable photos. The venue can facilitate events of a variety of sizes, with the largest capacity available in the Mammoth Room, which holds 300 guests. Smaller events can be held in the Firehole Room, which also features a fireplace, as well as a historic bar and restrooms. The venue also offers a comfortable get-ready room and an industrial-sized catering kitchen.
For your convenience, the dining lodge provides; tables and chairs, glassware, flatware and plates. Audio equipment is also available. The industrial kitchen is appreciated by your choice of caterer or do it yourselves! The venue is wheelchair accessible, and onsite parking is available for guests. The Union Pacific Dining Lodge was the PERFECT venue for our destination wedding! The building is beautiful, historic, rustic, and large enough to accommodate a massive group but q...
uaint enough that our group of 60 didn’t feel tiny in it. The venue provides all the tables and chairs you could want, and the fully-stocked commercial kitchen is a caterer’s dream! The Firehole Room and bar are perfect for a cocktail hour. Our guests were so impressed, and the venue needed very little decoration because it is already so pretty! The day of venue point—person, Kim, was so helpful and made sure she was available if we had any needs or questions at any time of the day or night. Overall, an extremely positive experience, and much less expensive than anything of comparable size in the nearby vicinity! We loved the UPDL.

The Union Pacific Dining Lodge was the perfect venue for our dream wedding. The Groom is from Montana and my family is mostly from the East Coast - so it was really amazing to be ...
close to the entrance to Yellowstone.
The venue itself is huge, definitely can fit a wedding of over 400 but our wedding was 150ish and we felt cozy but not swimming in the venue. In the larger room there is a huge fireplace that you can have going. Additionally, there is a smaller room (the Firehole) that we used for cocktails and has a bar area and another fireplace.
Additional items to note: cute little bridal suite, huge kitchen with everything your caterer needs, almost every type of glasses for the bar (we brought mason jars for beers).
The pricing includes 48 hours of use, so we used the venue for the rehearsal dinner too. The staff are easy to work with and will make sure you have everything you need!
The only con is that the venue is not insulated. It's an old building and has a few heaters but we also brought our own electric heaters. We had our wedding on Sept 28 and it snowed and was 30 degrees most of the weekend. But surprisingly we were not cold at all :)
