We hired Sheena to do some engagement photos last fall, and could not have been happier with our decision! My fiancé and I are a bit camera shy (both of us had not done professional photos before), and Sheena made us feel SO comfortable and relaxed during the shoot. The night before - she even sent us a text with tips to prep us which definitely was so helpful to ease us into the day. We wanted to go for a more natural and candid feel with our engagement shoot - it took place both in our home and around the neighborhood - and Sheena delivered on it perfectly! Not only did she point out cute spots for us to take photos in, but provided just the right level of direction to capture beautiful images without the feeling that we were overly posed. We loved the final product (which we got in just two weeks - incredible turnaround!) tl;dr Sheena is amazing to work with - so professional, kind, and talented. You will not be disappointed!

From the moment I first connected with Sheena, I knew she was the photographer for us. Frankly, I think I knew it already upon seeing her portfolio online, but nevertheless from the beginning, her knowledge, professionalism, and warmth validated that she was the one we wanted to trust with the important task of capturing our wedding. When first researching online who to work with for our wedding, I paid a lot of attention to the presentation of the business and working style, clarity of packages and pricing, and timeliness in response. Sheena met all that I was looking for and then some. The information on her website is comprehensive, clear, and presented beautifully. There were no surprises from what I was able to learn online, to what we discussed in our 30-minute phone interview, to the final contract that we executed. In looking at her portfolio of past work, I was immediately drawn to her ability to capture soft romance and elegance in a backdrop of gritty urban street environments – which was exactly what I was looking for. We got married in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and had so much fun walking around the neighborhood with her before our ceremony, weaving in out and streets as she found cool building backdrops, street art or ads, and those spots with “just the perfect lighting”. Our first experience working with her was for an engagement shoot in the West Village/Chelsea area. My husband and I are not comfortable taking pictures, but Sheena instantly made us feel relaxed, got us laughing and having fun, and balanced opportunities to direct us with certain placements while capturing the natural in-between moments of interactions between my partner and I. Sheena can recognize opportunities for great shots so quickly and in real time – it was amazing to watch as she captures you in one setting and then seamlessly guides you to the next opportunity. On our wedding day, she arrived with such a positive and relaxed energy – her Zen could ease any bride’s wedding jitters away. We had our first look in the hotel suite where I got ready, and she soon realized the aesthetic that the hotel suite décor could offer and got my bridesmaids to work quickly rearranging the room. We had a blast walking around Greenpoint, turning a 5-minute walk from the hotel to the venue into a 40-minute laughing session, allowing us to truly take in the excitement of the day. We snuck in the bridal party and family photos before the ceremony started - the posed photos were not our priority, but even in the short time we spent on these photos she captured perfect shots of us with everyone we cared most about. Sheena ended up taking what would be the last photos of my mother, who passed away two weeks after our wedding. She captured my mom in her final days with such grace and elegance – photos that I’ll cherish for the rest of my life. Sheena was also so gracious in sending me a framed shot of my mom and I after learning about her passing. While the rest of the day is a blur, Sheena was all around us as can be seen by the incredibly robust portfolio of photos she got from the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. The photos of us reading our vows reminded us again, why we chose to work with Sheena because we knew she would capture those important emotions that could be gone in a matter of seconds. When I saw Sheena’s photos on Instagram I knew she was exactly what my daughter was looking for: Someone to capture the feeling of her big day and make the viewer feel as if they were there! From the first call to receiving a small preview gallery (which arrived just 2 days after the wedding) I knew Sheena was AMAZING!! She is a true artist and having her at some of the most intimate moments of the wedding felt completely comfortable. Just look at her photographs, they speak louder than any words I can say! I highly recommend Sheena to anyone looking for someone to document any important life event!

I hired Sheena for our micro ceremony during Covid and cannot be happier with my decision. Prior to the ceremony, Sheena was super responsive to all of my ridiculous questions, and was so patient with the number of communications we had before the event date. She has such an eye for beauty. Sheena captured the most precious moments of the ceremony, and took the best natural photos of my husband and I on the streets of New York City. We were just being ourselves, and the photos effortlessly showed just that. I would totally hire Sheena again for any future occasion!
