My aunt was ordained through Universal Life Church Monastery online so she could perform our service. I would HIGHLY recommend having someone close to you to perform your ceremony ...

if you can. It made our day so personal and memorable. She did a magnificent job with our service and we were able to customize it to be exactly what we wanted thanks to the flexibility of having her do it. The ordainment process was pretty easy for her through Universal Life Church (the same one Conan O'Brien used to get ordained) BUT she ended up having to pay twice to get the right credentials (notarized letter, etc) for our county to authorize her to perform the ceremony. It's a little bit of a racket when it comes to how they send you things and you can end up duplicating efforts if you're not careful. So pay attention to what you're doing and ask your local authorities ahead of time to give you a list of what you need BEFORE your minister goes through with anything on the site. It can save you time and money. Other than that, we are very pleased with the opportunity that Universal Life Church allowed us to have the perfect person make the reason we were there (the ceremony) go off without (or I guess WITH) a hitch!

As my husband and I have a large set of beliefs, we didn't want one set faith to marry under. Frankly, we steal from everything but are members of nothing (to be poetic about it). ...

A friend of mine had been ordained and married his friends through this church, so we got one of our friends ordained, and he married us. Honestly, I don't think we could've made a better choice, to be able to meld our beliefs, write our own vows, cite whatever texts we wanted, and then be married by someone close to us. If you have a mixed faith marriage, I'd recommend either finding a pastor, or seeing if a friend wants to get ordained.
