We had an absolutely wonderful wedding at UMass Amherst. It is SUCH a great venue. First, it is so affordable compared to other beautiful venues in New England. If you’re an alumni..., there are even more perks. But you're not sacrificing quality! Seriously, it's a great option. The old chapel is beyond lovely and we loved the Marriott Center (top floor of hotel) but there’s multiple options for spaces depending on size and indoor/outdoor. We did a fall wedding, so we did outdoor pictures and indoor spaces. It was too big for us, but we really loved the new student union ballroom too. The food was AMAZING, but is that even a surprise being #1 dining in the USA? Our guests were well-fed and fueled to dance from dinner to the end of the reception. Seriously! I also credit the space because the Marriott Center was awesome for a dance corner and space for others to sit and talk. The view was also beautiful before sundown. The tasting process was really fun and working with the baker for a cake was easy and she did an amazing job- it was pure art. I kept seeing guests taking pictures of the cake. Additionally, so many venues have multiple events going on in a day or a weekend, and they really restrict you on what you can do and what your timing can be- they're distracted and ridgid- it sucks. UMass was the opposite. They were so accommodating, made clean up easy, and we had plenty of time in our spaces. Last but not least, our staff were AMAZING. The planning process was very smooth. The coordinating team on the day of, the catering staff, the bartenders, our coordinator Heidi, and the sales team- everyone was SO kind, patient, generous with their time, creative, and supportive. I feel like I owe them 1000s thank yous and it wouldn’t be enough. What a dream- I’m still blown away thinking about it. I was resistant to getting married at my alma mater- but truly, it was wonderful. I’ve been sharing my positive experience with people and a couple others have told me about weddings they attended at umass that they really enjoyed too. I think this is going to become a popular venue in the next few years. I’d highly consider them.
