I found my dress at URB bridal and the shopping was great but the alterations were atrocious.
During alterations, I worked with multiple different people who obviously don't comm...
unicate well, because they had terrible carryover and very little progress between visits. Nearly all the work was pushed to the final fitting — which was almost 7 HOURS. I didn't get to take my dress home until 6 weeks before my wedding, even though I'd purchased it in May 2024 for an October 2025 wedding.
The quality of the work was equally disappointing: uneven seams, horrendous sleeves that looked nothing like the original design we had agreed on, an unhemmed layer of my dress that was completely missed until my guest caught it (they literally took scissors to the bottom of my dress and called it a hem), and a hidden corset sewn in a way that left bulky, visible seams.
When I brought this to their attention, they blamed it all on me and said it was because my "continued weight loss" that made alterations difficult, or that I kept changing my mind about how I wanted the sleeves to be. But my weight did not fluctuate throughout the alterations experience at all (I kept track and was careful of this). And I changed my mind about 2 things very early - a regular corset back to a hidden corset (shortly after purchase) and the material of the sleeves (during the second appointment before anything had been done or made). Otherwise I didn't even ask for any other special customizations - I just needed the dress to fit me. It was clear they are just inexperienced and/or not skilled seamstresses.
The environment itself also felt unprofessional: no 360° mirrors to see the back of the dress, dirty floors that left debris stuck in my gown (they blamed this on the type of fabric of my dress saying it "picks up everything" instead of simply keeping the floor clean), and loud noise from children in the next room throughout my fittings.
When I raised these concerns and asked for a partial refund, their reply was dismissive and unprofessional, shifting blame onto me instead of taking accountability. In their reply they said that I "nitpicked every last detail" when I pointed out something out that was poorly done - but this is also my WEDDING DRESS. Alterations were overpriced, inconsistent, and poorly executed. In the end, I had to take my gown to another seamstress just weeks before my wedding to fix their mistakes. I didn't get my gown back until 1 week before my wedding. It was a nightmare.
These women are initially nice during your shopping experience, but don't be fooled. They are rude, unprofessional amateurs. Please take your dress elsewhere for alterations.
Helped me find the perfect gown for my wedding day! I felt so beautiful!
Very open minded, kind, and non judgmental staff. Thank you for being our saviors with our wedding. You made dress fitting fun. Thanks.
Although my experience of picking out and buying my dress was great, I paid a flat fee for alterations so they did not try to fit the dress properly. They totally ruined the dress....
I tried to take it to another seamstress in a desperate attempt to fix it before my daughter’s wedding and was told that they destroyed the dress. I was embarrassed to wear the dress and ended up with bruises under my arm after my daughter’s wedding. Their seamstress also missed hemming an entire layer of my daughter’s dress. If you buy your dress here, take it elsewhere for alterations!!
My favorite thing about URB bridal is you get to design your own dress with the help of the very friendly, accommodating, transparent, not sales pushy staff. Their prices are so af...
fordable too. They make the dress shopping experience individual, fun, no pressure, and you feel good about yourself. Their sample sizes come in a huge variety compared to other stores, even plus size. I honestly can't say enough good things about URB bridal and not a single bad thing to say. If you're looking for a dress you got to check them out even if it's a drive, it's worth it.
I had the best experience with Alysse. I am an October 2024 bride. I made a decision early on that I did not want to look at stores such as David's for my gown. I am a plus size br...
ide. I picked my dress on DAY ONE of looking. I went to an open house at a small family owned shop the morning before my appointment with URB and it was a completely different vibe. URB truly makes you feel beautiful and special. I was all about the glitter and rhinestones, etc and they were able to customize my dress to be exactly what I want. Seeing the smile on my mom's face let me know that this was THE DRESS. I can't wait until it is complete so that I can have my first fitting! You will not be disappointed.
My daughter and I had a wonderful experience with Alysse at URB Bridal! We booked a 6pm appointment on a weeknight, thinking we would just browse their selections. Alysse was able ...
to quickly narrow down what my daughter wanted in her dream wedding gown and she found a dress she loved. Then we learned about all the customization they offer at the shop - adjusting necklines, modifying sleeves, adding pearl buttons and more! Alysse was so knowledgeable about fabrics and design, offering many suggestions to make the gown one-of-a-kind and comfortable to wear! All this at a very affordable price point, meeting our budget with ease. They offer a huge selection of gowns, every dress available in size 00 to 36 with no extra fees for sizing. What looks like a small shop from the outside is huge on selection and customer service! I highly recommend you visit this shop run by two sisters to find your perfect dress!
I said yes to the dress at URB last night! My experience at this shop with owner Alysse was nothing but positive from the beginning! As a plus size bride, dress shopping can be ver...
y intimidating and stressful and from the moment I stepped into this shop , I felt excited and confident!! I went to another shop and walked out as it didn’t compare. Called another and they were beyond rude which made me even more stoked to return to URB!
Alysse made sure to ask a lot of questions about my needs and make recommendations of my style and body type spot on! so many different beautiful dresses to chose from and being able to customize ANYTHING is what makes this shop unique and fun! No one will have your exact dress but you!
I can’t say more than wonderful things about URB and I can’t wait to come back for my fitting. Highly recommend this shop for all future PGH and surrounding area brides!!! Thank you!
This bridal shop is everything you could ask for in finding your wedding dress. While at the appointment, they listened and did everything they could to find the dress that was per...
fect. They can even customize their dresses! I had an appointment at another store prior to this appointment, my family, friends, and I were disappointed. We felt looked over and just another number, this appointment changed everything in a matter of minutes. I would whole heartedly recommend this boutique to anyone. They are absolutely wonderful! (And yes I absolutely found my dress!)

wn skin shines through and was far superior to most other bridal shops I visited. Though I didn’t end up purchasing my dress from URB (through no fault of theirs) I still really enjoyed my experience and would HIGHLY recommend them.
The best local bridal shop to go to for anything you could ever imagine! They are the absolute best!
What an amazing experience!

I couldn't be more pleased with my experience at URB Bridal, I am so thankful for these ladies. I was so worried about finding something that I would love in my size (24). I wanted...
to cry trying on gowns, they have sample sizes up to a size 36 and I couldn't believe that I would ever try on a wedding gown bigger than my size. It is truly an experience every woman should have. Saying yes to the dress at URB was an easy choice for me, not just because of the beautiful dress, great price point, and the champagne but because of what they stand for.
I'm so thankful I found URB. I didn't think I would be able to afford my dream dress, but with the payment plan option I was able to make payments over 18 months until my wedding a...
nd I am so excited. The ladies were so knowledgeable and helpful and I really enjoyed creating my dream gown. I am so glad that I didn't settle. I have heard horror stories from other brides and I am so glad I made this my first stop.
I'm so glad I made an appointment at URB, I was impressed with the dress selection, I wanted something unique and they have it! I said yes to a repurposed vintage lace gown, and I'...
m so excited knowing that I am the ONLY bride to wear that gown and it is soooooooo comfortable. Being size inclusive already makes your trip to URB so awesome but the unique dress selection makes it a must for bridal gown shopping. And I was on a tight budget and I am so thankful that they offer a no interest, no credit check payment plan. I have 18 months to pay off my dream gown! They made it so easy.
First off the appointment starts with a glass of the best tasting champagne ever! and a huge selection of plus size gowns, I was surprised at how many options that I had and the un...
ique styles available. I wanted to feel beautiful on my wedding day and the ladies at URB made me feel beautiful. My dress is something that I didn't see at any of the other bridal stores and was surprised that it even came in my size. I can't wait to walk down the aisle, I really thought this process would make me feel bad about myself since I am not a sample size, but URB is for every size and that is what I truly love about it.
My experience at URB was nothing short of amazing and unlike any other. I went to a few other bridal shops the same day and ultimately said yes to the dress at URB because I found ...
my dream gown and was able to customize it to my liking with minimal extra costs, it was a great price, and my gown will be made to my measurements which will help me save on alterations which I have heard horror stories about. I was freaking out before my bridal shopping experience and I am so glad that URB made everything enjoyable and easy. And Rebekah and Brooke are very knowledgeable and even helped me choose my dream gown (I had no intention of trying on) having the option to customize any dress and mix & match made it a fun and easy to be more open to try different things. I am so glad I booked an appointment with URB!
Really exceptionally wonderful ladies working there! All the stars for the staff, and then some. Their service was above and beyond.
Dress selection was quite interesting, but sli...
mmer than I'd expected (not that the dresses themselves were skinny but that there just weren't as many as I expected). Also the Knot's note that they give free champagne isn't accurate (or at least, they didn't give us any -- and no, we didn't ask, but still).
But they were truly wonderful with us, so I'm nonetheless giving them 4 stars! Make them your first stop, or head there when you're looking for unusual details.
Most amazing experience ever. I was extremely scared to do wedding dress shopping because of horror stories I have heard from other women’s who were not sample size 4. But La Marie...
e was so inclusive, from the dress selection in multiple sizes to the flattering shapes and designs and authenticity! Will always thank them for turning a terrifying thing to the most amazing experience!
