Eric was an awesome photographer. He showed up early, got a run down of the venue and immediately started taking great photos. He got incredible detail photos of things like the decor, cake, venue, etc. while also getting beautiful photos of us and our guests. He was very friendly and fun to work with. Everyone was laughing the entire time. I absolutely love all of our photos, but especially the ones of us and our bridal party. There are so many great photos of guests too! I swear there’s a photo of almost every person who attended our wedding. I highly recommend Eric and his company. He’s easy to communicate with and gives you exactly the service you’re hoping for!

Eric is not only amazing with his work but as a person too. He was extremely personable and so patient. His artistry is a masterpiece and I’m so grateful and blessed to have had him capture my very special day. If you want incredible photos, please work with Eric. Eric was such a blast to work with. His amazing picutres pretty much speak for themselves, but his personality and creativity just add to the package. He is so laid back and hard working, not saying No to any ideas. He's up for anything (including my fiancé wanting to jump all the way into Lake Michigan during our engagement shoot!). Eric did an amazing job capturing our special day. He was organized with rounding up groups to get family pictures done and has an eye to add little details to bring it all together. Might I add he is also very hilarious which allowed him to capture pictures of everyone’s real smiles.

My wife (!!) and I researched photographers for probably 10 months before we found Eric and reached out to him. I could give all kinds of effusive praise, but to make this review actually useful to you and something you're willing to read, I'll just say this: I changed every single element of my wedding between planning and execution, except Eric. Dress, ceremony location, officiant, invitees, schedule, food--I really mean all of it, except the brides and our photographer. I have absolutely no regrets.

Eric was incredible to work with! Super responsive before our big day, so easy to work with even though I can be kind of particular (read pain in the butt). Eric is an amazing photographer. In the informal evaluation process that my wife and I set up to select a wedding photographer (we ended up hiring both of the finalists in our search, one of whom is Eric), Eric stood out from almost everyone else during our discussion. He demonstrated a thorough understanding of his craft and candidly and thoroughly described his philosophy and modus operandi. A brief review of his portfolio reinforced the positive impression I got from our discussion. While I only know of his work as a wedding photographer, he demonstrated such mastery of his craft that I believe his talents would likely transfer over seamlessly into any type of photography. Eric has almost completely converted over to digital photography, but his training and early experiences were in film photography, giving him essential knowledge in the core concepts of professional photography and the photography parameters that were essential in the film era. Eric has a keen understanding of what makes a good shot. It is said that top-notch photography is equal parts art and science; Eric has mastered both of these aspects and it shows in his work. I would highly recommend Vague Photography to anyone who wants to have the special moments of their lives preserved in the best way possible.

Vague photography was awesome for our wedding! Eric was very down to earth and helped us feel comfortable. He was up for anything and even drove through a blizzard to get to us! We just got our photos and we and all of our family LOVE them!!

Eric is an excellent photographer! His use of lighting is brilliant and he captured so many moments and beautiful details from the day. He’s an artist, for sure, which is exactly why we chose him. And we received SO many compliments on our photos. They are gorgeous. That said, if you want ultra filtered, washed out so everything looks 10 shades brighter photos, this probably isn’t the photographer for you. But if you are looking for a truly artistic photographer who captures both the image and mood of your day, I highly recommend Vague Photography.

Eric went above and beyond to make sure that the finer details of our wedding day were captured via photos. He is based in Michigan, but didn't hesitate to join us in Chicago for our celebration. His entire approach is to capture the day as it happens, so when we look back at the pictures, we are immediately brought back to the moments that made up our special day. Eric has a style all his own when it comes to editing photos & his eye for framing up shots is unreal. We are so happy with the finished product and love so many of the pictures that we honestly can't decide which ones to print! His jokes and charisma kept the posed shots with family a breeze & kept everyone in high spirits during the hustle and bustle of calling out the shot list. But photography never felt intrusive during the getting-ready process, so we always felt completely in the moment. 10/10. Would book again!

So we didn't hire Eric directly, he came along as a second photographer for our wedding, and I gotta say I am so happy he did! Eric was awesome from the moment we met him, he made sure every single shot was perfect by taking the necessary time to set everything up. He was super funny and personable, and I think that really helped ease some of the nerves I had on the big day. I don't know what he charges, but I can assure you it's worth every single penny.

We couldn’t be more thrilled with the work ethic snd photos from our wedding day. Eric was kind, funny and put everyone at ease. It was a hot, Sunday, August afternoon when we got married and Eric didn’t break a sweat l, kept things moving and captured our wedding day perfectly through glimpses and details he captured our emotions and documented the day. I love looking at my wedding photos and have had zillions of compliments on them. We have worked with Vague Photography several times, family photos, event photos, business photos, tintypes and have always been blown away by the quality of Eric’s work and his professionalism. I would highly recommend Vague Photography and plan to work with them again soon.

Eric is a master of his craft. More than that he took such good care of us on our wedding day; among the shenanigans and stress a wedding day entails, he is who helped me maintain my sanity! Extremely professional and patient-we took some photos amidst the bugs (read, outdoors) and I struggled! But there’s is no way one would ever know because the photos he produced are magic! Like something out of an enchanted forest. MAGIC! I was also late for the first look, but he took it all in stride. He has given us one of our most prized possessions. I am eagerly anticipating our tintype session while simultaneously trying to figure out any other reason to have him shoot for us 😆 Prior to the date, Eric was wonderful about answering any questions we had, very responsive, and assisted with planning, helping with timeline, etc. (he’s worked countless weddings, this was our first.) Also, I had concerns with lighting, exposure, etc. because I am dark skinned and my wife is not lol and the balance is something we’ve found is difficult to achieve. This does not seem to have been an issue at all. Will definitely hire him again and wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone who asks for a recommendation!

Immediately looking at Eric's work, we knew that he would be a great fit as our wedding photographer. After having a phone conversation with him, we had no doubts at all! Eric is professional and extremely knowledgeable. It is apparent he loves what he does and it shows through his work. He captured our wedding day perfectly, made people laugh, and adapted to whatever changes occurred during that day. This is the photographer you need! Eric is extremely fun, yet professional, to work with. He is very willing to work with you on choosing locations, poses, etc. But, he also knows how to pose you and get all the right angles for the perfect photos. At the time of writing this review (on my honeymoon) we received a couple teaser photos from the wedding and we are already amazed with how those look. I am sure the rest of the photos he delivers will only continue to blow us away. He was very understanding when rescheduling due to COVID, and has been an absolute pleasure to work with this whole time. Super personable, knows how to work with people and make them laugh, all of our family and guests commented on how funny he is. I cannot say enough good things about him and the quality of his business.

Eric was such a God-send for our wedding! We planned, postponed, re-planned and got married all amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and I really feel like in so many ways I would not have weathered that whole crazy ride as well as I did without his support and understanding. Not only are our pictures amazing, but let me just say I am fully willing to admit I am a tightly wound person and Eric handled that with such calm and care. He helped with SO much that really was not even in the job description of "wedding photographer" just because he truly cares about his clients and wants to see them happy. Highly recommend!

Wow! My husband and I are so thankful that we were able to work with Eric of Vague Photography on our big day. From the very first phone call, Eric put us at ease, really listened to our vision (and our budget!), and showed a genuine enthusiasm for our wedding. We had a small backyard ceremony in Fennville, MI on Labor Day weekend. Eric was prompt and professional, while also being warm and thoughtful. He has a great sense of humor and was able to elicit genuine laughter without being intrusive or overbearing, allowing him to capture wonderful intimate, candid shots with our friends and family. He took great care in photographing my dress, which was handed down from my great-grandmother, and my heirloom jewelry. You could tell he finds joy in these special details. During the ceremony itself, we completely forgot he was there, he moved so stealthily around, but he didn't miss a thing. He has an extraordinary eye for light and color, oftentimes evoking a cinematic, ethereal quality that we personally love. The photographs of our wedding are just beautiful. Excellent photographer with a sweet, funny, and bright personality! He was very willing to all types of photos and cared about what we wanted. His photos are AMAZING. He did take quite a long time post wedding to edit and get the package back (compared to come photographers) but in the end it was so worth it!

I haven't even gotten our photos back, but I had to leave a review! Eric was a pleasure to work with and delt with all of our hiccups in stride. He was such a trooper even when our limo felt like it had no air conditioning! We saw him working hard the entire evening snapping different angles and running about the venue. When our planned photographer wasn't able to commit due to scheduling conflicts, We reached out to Eric. He was extremely helpful throughout the entire process to make sure that not only my wife and myself were comfortable, but also her parents. VAGUE photography was there early, sizing up the location and identified where and when our essential memories were going to take place (e.g., the ceremony, where the groom and bride were going to get ready, walking paths of our guests, cake cutting, first dance, etc.). All the moments we wanted to commemorate were captured (e.g., mothers and fathers, bride with the best ladies and men, groom with the best men and ladies, us together). All the combinations you could think of—and he has a state-of-the-art drone taking imagery that will make you feel like you're flying. Truly amazing—if I ever get married again (to renew my vows ;) I'm going to make sure he's there.
