We used Valey Pig for our wedding caterer and they were absolutely amazing - we had SO many compliments! We got brisket, chicken and pork and we also had an array of apps during ha...
ppy hour. Mutiple people said the smoked shrimp at happy hour was the best shrimp they had ever had! We scoped out many BBQ vendors in the area and there's not really any others that rival Valley Pig's offering - smoking on site for 12 hours is quite unique. It felt really upscale but also just straight up delicious, which is exactly what we wanted.
Josh and his team are truly fantastic. My fiance and I were planning to get married in spring of 2020, but had to reschedule due to the pandemic, so - as a disclaimer - this review...
is for our experience working with Josh to sample the food, plan for the wedding, and manage rescheduling as needed.
First off, the food is delicious. The brisket was moist, the pulled pork tender, and the sides went really well with everything. Both my fiance and I normally feel like smoked chicken is usually pretty standard, but VPP's was our favorite thing on the menu.
As we worked through our planning process, Josh was responsive and helpful throughout. When we started looking into rescheduling, he was totally flexible and prioritized making something work for us. We ended up having to cancel our event, and Josh was one of the vendors who was the most understanding and supportive - very professional and honest. The VPP vibe is casual, which we loved; we planned to rent china, tablecloths, silverware, etc. in addition from another vendor. This ended up being a bigger hassle than we had anticipated, so the one area that would have been nice would be if VPP partnered w/ a vendor to offer a more all-inclusive full-service catering package, but Josh was really transparent throughout the process about what was included and what we'd need to manage on our own, and the price was really great value for what we were getting.
Overall, we highly recommend Valley Pig Pickin' and Josh's team based on our experience. Great food, thoughtful service, and a tremendous value.
WOW! That was the general comment for the food provided by this amazing family operated caterer. It is tough finding someone to do on site pig roasts but they know how to do it W...
ELL. They have been doing this for 16 years! We had pulled pork, beef brisket, and chicken and they were all superbly done. The home made rolls are yummy and fresh, the green salad nicely done with just a light dressing all enjoyed, country green beans very tasty, and smoked mac and cheese to die for! The red skin ranch potato salad was a delightful surprise-not just covered in ranch dressing but a light creamy taste with a hint of black pepper that really complimented the overall BBQ menu. Can't say enough about the quality and professionalism of Valley Pig Pickin's except that they are really nice people to work with as well! We wish them all the best.
Josh and guys thanks so much for a wonderful wedding reception and brunch this past weekend. The food was incredible and your service was outstanding! We appreciate everything you ...
did for us and are very thankful there were leftovers...we are still eating them :) The brisket and the pork were outstanding!!! but I gotta say, the chicken? WOW! That is without a doubt the best smoked chicken I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. Whatever you use for the rub on it....it was a big hit!!!
We received nothing but compliments about the food. BBQ is always good but your's seemed to blow everyone away, way beyond expectations!!!
The brunch was fantastic too!! All of the smoked frittatas, the hash brown casserole---WOW! Again, all the guests complimented us on the food over and over again. It was such a big hit! We could be happier!
Thanks so much and I highly recommend your company and service. If I could give you 10 stars here I would!
These guys were responsive, willing to work with us, prompt on event day, and provided VERY tasty food! The pork and smoked mac and cheese were fantastic. They have a great relatio...
nship with our venue (Stover Hall, also lovely!) and that was helpful because they knew the best way/location to set up the food, where to cook it, and what would be available on-site. We would definitely hire them again.
We found Valley Pig Pickin at an open house event that our wedding venue put on before the opening of wedding season. The food was great, and we had done a couple other tastings in...
the area. Valley Pig was definitely among our top two choices from the start. Our other choice was not a bbq place, so the decision really just came down to what kind of food we wanted at the wedding reception.
Valley Pig Pickin was a great choice for our wedding! We had pulled pork shoulder, which is already one of my favs, and Valley Pig did a great job. It happened to be raining on our wedding day, but that didn’t stop them from arriving to the venue early, setting up the smoker, and slow cooking some pork shoulder and brisket for the main event. We also had their smoked mac n cheese, which is another favorite of mine. They offered different kinds of bbq sauce. The side salad was a great accompaniment to the meal. We also ordered smoked stuffed mushrooms as appetizers. I can’t personally recommend those, because all my guests ate them before I could! They all reported that they are amazing, though.
We really appreciate the effort that Josh from Valley Pig gave for making our wedding reception dinner a great meal. He was able to work with specific requirements for vegetarian meals by producing some nice smoked portabella mushroom caps. Also, we requested a lactose free mac n cheese. While he couldn’t do that himself, he did share his recipe with us, and we modified it to make the lactose free version.
All in all, everyone was very happy with the dinner. And we got to eat leftovers for days after. Yum.
We wanted a casual dinner since we were having an outdoor wedding on a farm. Valley Pig Pickin' did a pig roast, bbq chicken, and provided all of the usual side dishes for a tradi...
tional barbeque. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed the show surrounding the pig roast. We were very happy.
