Unfortunately, at my wedding on March 12th, I did not get the service I paid for. not only did she arrive an hour late which means that my three hours hair and make up had to be squeezed into two hours. But by the time she was done with my hair, I looked in the mirror to find out that she had not done the style that we had agreed-upon in the trial. At that point we were running far behind in our schedule, and the entire day was running late because of her. There was no way I could ask her to redo my hair considering we were all waiting on me. It ended up falling down and getting caught in my buttons and it had to be redone several times throughout the day by my bridesmaids, and was a major source of distraction and frustration. Besides the hair being not at all what I paid for, she spent the entire time she was with me, for two hours, talking about her recent, extremely messy break up which included infidelity. So on my wedding day, the day of love, joy and commitment, she would not stop talking about infidelity and personal drama. She was also talking about who was “f**king” who and when while the young flower girls were walking in and out of the room. Apparently it was my responsibility, my bridesmaids’ responsibility, or anyone else’s responsibility but her own to know what was an appropriate conversation topic in that environment. She also failed to give me my touchup kit, which was part of the service I paid for. if you are in the San Francisco Bay Area, I would advise avoiding Vani Leon for your hair and make up artist. UPDATE She claimed that she had consulted me on a different look considering that it was raining and the new look would work well with the weather. This consultation never happened and would not have made sense since my hair type has never had an issue with any weather. My hair doesn’t get frizzy with humidity or anything like that, and I would have said that. I do recall her having a discussion about curly hair having issues with the weather with one of my bridesmaids who has curly hair, but this was while she was working on what I believed to be my trial hair style for my wedding. she also argued that she did leave me a make up touchup kit, but she did not as promised. The makeup service she performed was acceptable, except she used a lip gloss that was gone within an hour. Otherwise the make up service was acceptable. After two days of no response, I had to text her telling her to send me a Venmo for the refund. This followed the pattern of poor and no responsive communication since the trial. She was really responsive up to the trial appointment, but afterwards, after I had pre-paid for the wedding service, she seem to fall off the face of the Earth. At this point, since I had received my partial refund, and our conversation about what was written in the contract was finished, I then mentioned the unprofessional conversation she initiated which included her personal situation with infidelity. She argued that if she was asked to stop, she would’ve stopped, but I reiterated that it was inappropriate to even bring up that subject on someone’s wedding day, and that it had an affect on my experience with her professional services. She was very emotional, defensive, and rude in response back to that feedback.
