Went here to get my nails done for my wedding. Not only do their nail techs not do anything special... but they are rude.. short.. obviously think that the 'leg and hand massage' is lightly slathering lotion on the mentioned body parts.. they charged me $10 to removed my polish and didn't even get it all taken off, so you can see remnants for my purple polish on my french tip manicure (which was the only thing they CAN Do that resembles anything Bridal.. other than slapping on a thin layer of glitter on the ring finger..) The tips are crooked.. at weird slants meaning you can see my normal nail tips.. I think I've had my friends 8 year old paint my nails better than this lady did. And, might I mention.. that the mani pedi was a gift.. someone got me .. Apparently they went in and asked specifically for a gift card covering a mani pedi and the tip.. It did not. I DO NOT recommend going into this place if you want to actually enjoy the mani-pedi.. it was rushed.. they were more interested in getting me out of there fast.. than actually doing the job. I WILL NOT be back.
I had my hair done by Jay at the Valparaiso location. I love her. She is amazing. We had six other girls working on my bridesmaids and family's hair. They all were stunning. Vanis is the place to go!
I actually went to the Vanis in Valparasio.I was very happy with my hair and makeup on my wedding day. I did feel that the salon was overpriced, and that many of the services should not have been an extra charge. For instance, I was upset that I did not get a discount on my hair trial run. I mean I do not think I should have to pay the same updo price when I am just getting a trial. I feel like this should be part of the bridal package, or at least a discount. I also was unhappy about the way they handled the charges. I had put $500 down initially and the girls were supposed to cover the rest. On the day of the wedding instead of asking me who was responsible for everything, they discounted the girls payments, and I was stuck with the foot of the bill. The girls had already gone back to the hotel, and there was not much that I could do at this point. They should have consulted me on the payment, and not assumed that me, the bride, would cover everything. I was unhappy about this lack of communication. It was a rather large charge for me to come up with, thank gosh I had the money with me.
I was not completely impressed with the salon, but I was VERY impressed with my stylist, R.J. She was so nice, and gave me a beautiful updo for the wedding. I added extensions and wore my hair half up and down. She was wonderful, and without her I would have most likely gone somewhere else. If you do go to this salon, please request her, she is a wonderful stylist, and deserves all of the business that she can get. The makeup artists are also wonderful. They are very responsive to your requests, and do makeup exactly as you would like it DO not be afraid to request the makeup darker, as they tend to put it on light unless otherwise requested.
My bridesmaids, mother and myself went to Vanis in Crown Point for our wedding hair. All the girls looked fabulous!
I didn't absolutely love my hairstyle, but it was simple, elegant and stayed all day - exactly what I wanted.
I feel that my cost as the bride was quite high just because I was the bride. I had a simple chignon and had to blow-dry my hair straight (I have curly hair) the night before myself. It took the stylist about 30 minutes to do my hair, but cost $75 with tip.
Overall however, I loved all of the other girls' hair and I don't think they were overpriced. Everyone at Vanis was very friendly and the decor was tranquil and peaceful.
I was disappointed after my trial...the stylist did not listen to what I wanted, and the make-up artist also tried her own wings on some things that I preferred to be certain about.
The wedding day was...unpleasant...in terms of the hair. Again, the stylist wanted to go her own way. When I wanted my extensions put in, she said she didn't think I needed them and said, "go get your make-up and when you're done let me know what you think." I got my make-up done and it was incredible! So, a thumbs up on that. My bridesmaid told the front desk that I was not happy with my hair and they had an assistant curl my extensions until my stylist was free to put them in. (It was technically still within the timeframe of my hair appointment, so she should never have sent me off to make-up without finishing my hair!) My girlfriend re-fixed my hair later that day because the assistant didn't use any products on the extensions and the curls were flat within the first hour. EXTREMELY disappointed, because I paid a LOT of money for this.
I had a wonderful experience with the stylists and staff of Vanis in Schererville for my wedding. I did schedule a trial for my hair and makeup and was paired up with really skilled stylists. I felt that they really cared about the look that I wanted to have on my wedding day. I was initially interested in a different makeup service for my big day, but my makeup techinician helped my find an even better application that looked amazing. My entire wedding party was welcome at Vanis and they worked efficiently. I'm so pleased with the hair stylist I had. I can't wait to go visit her again. The ladies were always asking me how things felt in my hair and whether I liked it or not. I'm so glad I gave Vanis my business for the biggest day of my life. They helped make me feel my best!
