playing and I thought to myself, my (now) wife was right in suggesting we have a live band over a DJ. Our ceremony was outdoors and was beautiful. Velvet City managed the sound and microphone system for our wedding, so our guests were able to hear our service in our outdoor setting. Unfortunately, after the service the weather took a turn for the worse during our cocktail hour. Despite the rain our Band Lead, Jordan just scooted his equipment a little further into the lodge, covered some of his equipment, and proceed with playing for our cocktail hour. Winds picked up even more and the power to the region ended up being taken out. This meant that the 3-piece band was not reality. Although we did not get to hear the other 2 pieces of the band perform, Jordan held strong and performed acoustic for the entirety of our wedding reception despite there being no power. If we had decided to just go with a DJ our reception would have been dead in the water. Instead, we had Velvet City Sound and Jordan improvised ensuring he was still a part of our unexpected but definitely unforgettable wedding night. Prior to the day of, Nick (band manager) was super communicative and made planning the service and reception music so straight forward and simple. Would definitely recommend Velvet City Sound for your event!

The band knows hundreds of popular songs from every genre you can think of, and they are willing to learn whatever songs you want that are not on the list. We ended up hiring them for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception which was the best decision because the live music made every moment so much more special. We are so thankful to have had VCS at our wedding, and would hire them again in a heartbeat! They are wonderful musicians but also just wonderful people!

The band took extra care into the setlist and made sure to fit all of our requests in. a song we didn’t expect to get the crowd going AND they let my husband’s cousin play with them. We did the five-piece band to get an additional female singer and she was absolutely amazing. They even learned a new song for our first dance & rocked it. It was an absolute blast & would absolutely recommend them to anyone who asked. The night of our wedding was SO fun and I had no worries with Nick leading the band and MCing. We got compliments all night long and after the wedding about how fun the band was. They were high energy, went exactly by our requests, had amazing vocals, took song requests during the reception and just kept the party going until the very end. I cannot recommend this band enough! They MADE our wedding reception!

s our only child so we've never planned an event like this before. I researched several bands and found VCS. Our event was on New Years Eve in Mobile, AL. VCS traveled to Mobile and had everything ready to go when we arrived at The Bragg-Mitchell Mansion for the reception. One of the classiest moments was walking in the cocktail hour and hearing the piano and saxophone playing for our guest as they entered the reception, ate and had a few warmup drinks. The reception then moved outside to where we had a tent and the full band playing. We went with the six-piece band. Saxophone and female vocal are definitely recommended for an add on. VCS kept the dance floor full the entire night. Many guests asked us who this band was and how we found them. VCS far exceeded our expectations and I highly recommend them for any event where you may need a band. Oh, and the night ended with a fantastic playing of Sweet Home Alabama. Thank you, Nick and VCS!

- all through VCS! Every musician was amazingly talented and as a group they served as fantastic emcees. My husband and I are musicians ourselves, so it was both important and meaningful to us that we had live music for our wedding. VCS drew our attention with all of the options and talent that they could provide and sold us on their huge array of songs that we could select from. There is truly something for everyone in their songlist and they still have flexibility to work on other songs for you should you want something specific for your ceremony, special dances, etc. An incredible example of that was my "walk down the aisle" song. My husband wrote a song for me when we first started dating and I dreamed of walking down the aisle to it. We reached out to our VCS manager with the idea and provided written chords/score and an audio recording. They agreed and spent the time learning the song on piano so that we could have this magical moment on our big day - it was AMAZING! Another magical moment occurred during our reception, when we'd prearranged for my husband to join the band for a song that he played with a restaurant band on one of our first dates. He borrowed one of their guitars and they gave him the main microphone to lead the song. It was so wonderfully HIM and it brought the house down! We can't thank VCS enough for letting us join them and add some special moments to their typical plan/setup. I also want to highlight their flexibility. Not only were they adaptive throughout the event as the schedule changed and they were forced to do some things on the fly, but they also made some major, spontaneous concessions that were unexpected. Unfortunately there was a power outage affecting our wedding venue on the weekend of our wedding. This meant that not only would our wedding now have to take place outside in the July heat, but there would be no power for speakers, keyboards, amps, or any electrical equipment the band would use. The band manager worked closely with my mom and our wedding coordinator to workshop new ideas to still pull off the music for our wedding and went to great lengths to acquire a generator (hours before our wedding!) so that we could still use all of the equipment. Fate would have it that the power came back a couple of hours before the wedding so we returned to our original plans, but VCS undoubtedly went above and beyond to make sure that our wedding happened no matter what! Our guests raved about how fun it was to dance all night long with a live band and they certainly kept our dance floor packed until closing time! I cannot recommend a live band enough, and if you are leaning that direction - Velvet City Sound is the way to go!

My husband and I actually heard VCS play before the wedding at a local event. The lead singer that day was Jordan, and my husband and I knew immediately we wanted him to be the lead at our wedding. I emailed Nick, and he made that happen for us. We had a call with Jordan the week before the wedding to finalize all the details. Our only request was to keep everyone dancing and having fun. Jordan went above and beyond to make that happen. Our guests were on the dance floor having a blast all night! VCS is amazing and we cannot recommend them enough!

I was very specific about the set list and the order of songs and they nailed everything. They said they would learn a few new songs that weren’t part of their massive list of songs, and they went above and beyond by learning several new songs that we requested specially. I never left the dance floor at my wedding. I requested mostly classic rock songs but the variety of songs they can do is extraordinary. I highly recommend VCS!

As a wedding coordinator, I know that keeping people on the dance floor isn't always easy, but they got it done - even as they were competing with a local college football game that was on in the bar...so that is saying something! :-) I think the best thing I can say is that I would recommend them to other brides.
