The Veterans Memorial Civic & Convention Center is a wedding venue located in the heart of downtown Lima, OH. It is the largest, most versatile venue in the region. Choose from a variety of spaces to fit your style and love story. The Civic Center has everything you need to turn your vision into a beautiful wedding.
Wedding packages start at $1,500. Each wedding package includes an eight-hour block of time, tables, chairs, linens (your color choice of black or white), setup & tear down, and china and cloth napkins. Staging is provided for the head table and free uplighting is offered in the Exhibit Hall. Security and bartenders can be arranged for those who wish to serve alcohol.

The Exhibit Hall is the largest event area at this venue with 13,950 square feet of space. This hall is complete with large ceilings and ample room for seated guests, a dance floor, and live entertainment. This event space can be configured in several ways and accommodate up to 1,000 guests. For slightly smaller gatherings, the Exhibit Hall can be split into three separate event areas with the use of soundproofing wall separators. All of these spaces are equipped with state-of-the-art audio and lighting fixtures for custom celebrations.
Crouse Performance Hall is great for ceremonies like no other. This theatre has played host to many well-loved plays and can now host unforgettable ceremonies as guests take their seats to watch you exchange vows. This performance hall boasts 1,774 seats and a large stage area.
Additional facilities include the City Club where everlasting receptions can be hosted. This renovated space includes some of the building’s original features from the 19th century including restored stained-glass windows and more. The City Club can host large festivities that feature a dance floor, entertainment, and dining tables.

Very upset with our experience with the civic center. At first everything was great prices were reasonable. A week before our wedding we get a call from our caterer that the civic ...
center is billing them commission, this was not at all in our contract and when we spoke to our event coordinator he stated it was not in the contracted because it’s between the civic center and the caterer??? Like the caterer would just foot the charge without billing it to us.
We got there to set up the day before our wedding and was informed they didn’t have linen for the tables. They make you submit a floor lay out a month before and if there’s changes they charge you. They decided to change our floor plan for us because they thought it didn’t look good. While setting up staff kept interfering in the work that we were doing and eventually linen(table cloths and napkins) came. They came wrinkled and we had to fold the napkins ourselves.
Our wedding came around and we had previous made bar decisions that all drinks would be poured into plastic cups that we had provided as the Civic Center serves pop in 20oz bottles. For the first few hours the bar tenders were just handing out bottles of pop instead of using the cups we had provided. Civic center staff was in charge of pouring champagne for the head table before the toast and when informed that we were ready they came to the head table and said since we didn’t have champagne on our order list(we did) they were going to charge us per glass. When told that was incorrect and we had ordered this months in advanced the woman laughed in our faces.
To top things off the Civic Center had the main doors almost completely blocked off due to new construction. This blocked off the drop off area and all handicap parking. We were never informed by staff that there was going to be construction during the time of our wedding.
I write this review not to be hateful. But, to help another bride. We had a beautiful wedding in the civic center. But, that was in spite of the civic center. From the start it was...
impossible to get info. Emails unanswered for weeks. No info online. Very hard to get a phone call with the person you need. We just needed to know what Catering company we were allowed to bring in. Basic things.
It was beautiful because other vendors worked hard to fix a layout that was done by the civic center that included no dance floor. We drove from Dayton and back to personally go over the layout, we were told there would be a dance floor. Of course we need a dance floor. I walked in Thursday of wedding week, no dance floor. Tables everywhere. I was told it was my fault, and it was very unpleasant. Instead of listening to what I needed, I was just told to calm down repeatedly. Im a critical care nurse, 1) telling people to calm down, never helpful 2) I can calm down, beleive me, i can work under stress. It was very condescending. It soured those precious days before my wedding. That still saddens me. I was a mess Thursday, instead of spending time with my family and getting sleep.
I would go with a venue that actually likes weddings, has someone who will help you, keep your interests in mind. If we didn't have at least our outside vendors who were like that, im not sure what would've happened.
And the elevator to the skywalk was broken. Noone told me. It was broken for a week before the wedding at least and on our wedding day. Our guests had a very hard time and a warning would've helped those who struggle with walking in the heat.
