We had a wedding in the midst of the #CoronaVirus ya'll! Owner Denise at Village Bakery was AMAZING to work with. You can only image the challenges of having a wedding and communicating to your vendors when they can't legally run their business!! The cake was definitely a highlight of the wedding!! We had a 4 tier cake with 4 different flavors: White cake-white icing, chocolate cake-chocolate icing, Italian cake - Italian icing, Italian cake-Italian/pineapple icing. Guests of my wedding are still RAVING about how good they all were!!
Village bakery is a well known bakery in the city I got married in. Rightfully so, I was excited about using them for our wedding cake. I had an initial consultation with the head baker which went very well. She was informative and had plenty of samples! About two weeks prior to the wedding we had another consultation to finalize the cake design and flavors. Fast forward to the wedding day; the cake design was not what was discussed in the consultation and the flavor combination was different. The cake plate was also forgotten. The cake tasted great but some of the details were missed!
This place is Very unprofessional, I contacted them in early January about a wedding cake in April. I followed up the following weeks for cake testing and to order the cake. The day I was to pick up the cake they told me they tried to call me about not being able to finish the cake... Really? Also they only accept cash and checks, stop being cheap it's 2017
First off, this is going to sound crazy, but I used Village Bakery from Tyler, TX even though my wedding was in Austin! I had actually been a guest at a wedding prior to mine and LOVED the cakes. When I found out they were from a bakery in Tyler I thought there was no way they would travel all the way into downtown Austin...well I was wrong! Not only did they bring the cakes (my three tier wedding cake and 3 tier groom's cake) all the way from Tyler, but they arrived perfectly and in plenty of time.
As mentioned earlier, what drew me to the bakery originally was the cake I had while being a guest at another wedding; the cake stood out to me so much because most wedding cakes are not good in my opinion...they are either too dry, too plain, or have terrible tasting icing. NOT THE CASE WITH VILLAGE BAKERY! My guests went on and on about how moist and delicious our cakes were and kept asking where they came from (I seriously can't wait until our first anniversary so I can eat the top!).
Not only were the cakes to die for taste-wise, but they were beautiful and the bakery did a great job of creating the custom design I came up with. They also blew us away when we told them to surprise us with a Game of Thrones themed Groom's cake. It was amazing! (if you go to the lahra bryant photography blog and search my name, you can probably see a picture of it!)
In short, do yourself a favor and use Village Bakery. You won't be disappointed!
P.s., I noticed they have the incorrect website listed here. Here is the correct one: http://www.villagebakerytyler.com/
Village Bakery In Tyler Texas is the bakery to choose.. Wow Mrs. Betty owner of the bakery went over and beyond. The wedding cake was beautiful , better than anything we even expected it to be. The Italian Cream Cake with white chocolate fondant was wonderful. The Grooms cake was a chocolate cake shaped like a pyramid with chocolate filling I have never tasted a cake from a bakery that was as delicious as this cake was and it was just what my son in law wanted . All the guest ask where we got the cakes. I went by and visited with Mrs. Betty today and took her a thank you card. wow is all I can say.
Our cake was beautiful and tasted amazing. The flavor was Italian Creme, very moist. My only complaint was that they quoted us a price at $450 when we were meeting with bakers. It ended up being close to $650 by the time everything was said and done. If I had known it would be that much, I probably would have gone elsewhere. That being said, it was beautiful and delicious--just much more than initially told. So my recommendation is to get your price quote in writing and you should be fine :)
The owner Betty gives your personal attention when picking the design of your cake. She personally delivers it to the reception site and makes sure it looks perfect. The cakes tasted amazing and I had many many compliments on the design and taste.
