UPDATE: So I got a phone call shortly after this review about how happy they were to find out they could get my dress here on time (which was still way later then originally told us) never once mentioning any additional charge that would come from this, because i would never agree to “rush” a dress that we were told would be here way before I needed it. When I go to pickup the dress and on my way out the owner wanted to sit and talk for 20 minutes about taking the below review down saying it wasn’t fair and at the time I still have it 3 stars, what about what’s fair to the customers? After being lied to saying they tried calling me and I didn’t have voicemail options (had the same voicemail set up since I was 16 I’m almost 21 now). So the last version of the story they gave me was another girl had ordered the same dress and they just assumed mine would come in a similar time. (mind you they never said the dates given originally were an estimate they said it would come in never it “might”) I honestly was so over, so the same dress that should’ve been here in February came in May and we paid an additional $150 for it being late
So if you want to deal with a bunch of lies and headache then here’s the shop
I ordered my dress a while back after my sister in law got hers from here. The service was fine in the beginning, but her dress was almost two months late I’m pretty sure, and the lady really pushed me to order a different size then what me and my mom thought might be best, and I called to ask when my dress was supposed to be in last Wednesday and someone took my name and number and said they call me the next day to tell me when it was coming in which seemed a little odd to me, but I figured they were just busy and the next day I never got a call. And the day after that and the day after that to the point where it’s almost been a week and I’m starting to feel like I should’ve gone elsewhere to order a dress. And I’m so over the Covid excuses for shipping anything, even the covid holidays had everything shipped to my house in the estimated shipping dates so non seasonal covid really shouldn’t push it back past a day or two in my opinion. I’m just getting very frustrated which is so upsetting because I was so happy with it in the beginning. Since hers was two months late, mine cannot be that late because I will not be able to get alterations done in time for it to be ready by the wedding. The fact that I haven’t gotten a phone call or email or anything after asking what’s the status is just beginning to really concern me.
It was more on the expensive side 1,500 range. A decent selection with at least a 100 dresses. At first it wasn’t a pushy environment but in the end it started to feel like it
I had a great experience buying my dress at Village Bridal - the owner and consultant, Margaret, was so helpful in encouraging me to make decisions about what I liked and didn't like and listening to my feedback. She ended up finding me my perfect dream dress and I appreciated her support and the way she made the experience fun so much!
However, I would not recommend getting alterations done here. I ended up having to take my dress to another seamstress because it was not taken in at the bust and sleeves in a way that fit my body the best, and steaming the dress was a significant additional charge which we thought was unusual based on the experience of others in the wedding party. We brought our concerns to them at my final fitting, but there was little time to make a fix before the wedding and they weren't willing to make those changes in the time frame we had.
Great purchasing experience and a really kind staff, which made me extra disappointed that we had difficulty communicating about the alterations and dress fit.
My wedding dress fit perfectly after the first alteration! I only waited one week for my dress to be finished!
The owner, Margaret, helped me go through the entire store (or as much as i wanted) allowing me to pick out every single dress that I wanted to try on. She asked what pricing I wanted to stay within, and she helped make me aware of which dresses were in and outside of my budget before we began, so I wasn't taken off-guard by falling in love with a dress outside of my budget. Margaret and her staff helped me and my sister and friend enjoy our time in the bridal shop being very energetic and helpful, giving me space as needed. I ended up finding my dream dress at my first try! I hadn't gone to any other stores prior to this visit, and I am a shop-around type of girl, so this was hard to believe. The dress was a one-of-a-kind (in this shop at least) as Margaret had traveled to Spain and purchased the dress there. I was blown away by the fact that she flies around the world purchasing the amazing gowns herself for the shop. Only down-side was the dress had a dirt stain on the bottom and was way too big, but that's what you get when you purchase from boutiques. Another plus was the bottle of pink champagne they surprised me with as I was completing the purchase. I definitely recommend her shop, and my friends loved the experience too! The groom, my now husband, LOVED the dress and said it was absolutely perfect and better than anything he could have imagined. Thank you Margaret and team!
I was provided great service when I got my dress but they didn't do a good job is measuring or directing me to the best size so I had to spend a lot in alterations when I think it could have been avoided. They have a beautiful collection of dresses but you should probably have a second opinion on the size you order before you sign.
Gown was beautiful. I payed a lot of money to alter the dress and it never fit me perfectly.
The owner Margaret is the sweetest to work with! Village Bridal was the first boutique I visited. The first gown I tried on ended up being "the one" after a day full of other boutique appointments. They have the best and most exclusive selection of Pronovias gown which are made in Spain. Even though it took 9 months for my incredible gown & veil to be made to order, it was worth every minute & penny. It was stunning & one of a kind!
My gown was all delicate spanish lace with a lot of detail. I was worried about alterations, but Julia (who works out of Village Bridal) was superb! She did the most fabulous job!!
I had an amazing experience at Village Bridal! Margaret went above and beyond to help me find the perfect dress for my special day.

All four bridesmaids, including myself, wore a beautiful dark blue Jasmine Belsoie gown at my sister's wedding back in April. The dress was floor length, strapless and made of chiffon. Loved the color! Dress style fit all of us and looked very flattering. I had to make some alterations around the top of the dress as it was a little bit bigger than I needed, but it fit perfectly everywhere else. We have decided to go with this dress because the dress can be easily changed from floor to knee length, which I am planning on doing myself. This is best feature of this dress, because I hate buying dresses that I can wear only once :) Now I will have a perfect cute coctail dress that I will be able to wear multiple times. I highly recommend Nashville Village Bridal for bridesmaid dresses selection as this bridal shop has a lot of choices to pick from and the owner is very nice and helpful. I will be coming back to this store for any future special ocassion dress shopping.
Finding the perfect wedding dress isn't always easy, but Village bridal made my experience wonderful. From the moment we walked in the door I felt like that special bride. I was the only bride trying on dresses at that time. I really enjoyed being able to take my time and look through the large selection of dresses that they carry (at all different prices). I wasn't rushed and I got the full attention of the consultant. I was more then pleased with there alterations department! They made sure that my dress fitted exactly how I wanted and they were prompt. My mother also bought her mother of the bride dress there and they were wonderful with her also. If you want a great wedding dress shopping experience please go check out Village Bridal (now in Green Hills)!
I got a beautiful Pronovias dress from here. They met all of my needs, and the alteration lady there is great! My sister also got her dress from here and they did a great job with her too. The owner can be a little overwhelming if you catch her on a day she's in, but she definitely makes the experience a memorable one! They have really nice, reasonably priced dresses.
Russian staff is nice but overcharged me. The final price for alterations was $250 more than they originally told me. Total rip off.
I began shopping for my wedding dress in December 2011. I wanted a Pronovias dress so I searched on the internet for a vendor in Nashville and stumbled upon Village Bridal.
From the moment I stepped in the owner and staff were beyond helpful. The store was not crowded so I received one-on-one consultation with the owner and staff. The staff found the dress style I requested and I LOVED the first dress I tried on. Although I went to a few other bridal boutiques in Nashville, I did not receive the same service, nor could find a dress that rivaled the gorgeous Pronovias gown.
Additionally, the seamstress was wonderful. I currently live in New Orleans, and she was helpful in coordinating times to fit within my travel schedule. I received my dress altered perfectly in July, well before my October wedding.
I highly recommend Village Bridal for any Bride-to-Be.
Let me say, I loved my dress! However, the owner of the store (a Russian lady with a thick accent) was not the best to work with. She wrote down how much everything would cost me, taxes, dress, alterations, etc. And then we discussed how 'shipping a dress out of state would be cheaper.' I had heard this from many other stores so knew what she was talking about. Through broken English I decided to purchase my dress here, because I loved it. When it came time to pay she 'didnt know what I was talking about' when I reminded her of our finance agreement (even though it was in her own handwriting.) She was backing out of what she said she would do when I agreed to purchase the dress, I was trying to hold back tears each time I went into the store because 'new fees' came up EVERY visit. I had to go in for 4 alterations (the alteration lady was so precious and nice) but everytime 'something was wrong' and had to be fixed. All in all, it was a horrible experience and not what I had imagined my dress shopping to be, especially for that price of a dress.
I found the perfect dress at Village Bridal. The workers are a little pushy and not to friendly. Good price and selection on dresses.
After looking at HUNDREDS of wedding dress online, I was getting really nervous because I just didn’t like anything I was seeing. I’m not into frilly, poofy, lacey, princess…and that’s ALL I was seeing! Finally I found two Nicole Miller dresses that I really loved and found that they were both in stock at Village Bridal. I called on a Thursday afternoon for an appointment and by lunchtime on Friday I’d picked out my dress! I tried on the one I liked and it was perfect! My dress came in within a month or so (way ahead of what they’d estimated) and then they basically altered it for me on the spot! They were great & very accommodating! Definitely recommend!
I purchased my dress from here, and I do love it. However, the staff is horrible. I had 3 scheduled fittings. I would even call the day before and confirm my fitting. Then I would get to Village Bridal and they wouldn't know why I was there, and insist that I had arrived without an appointment. They had my dress from March till August. On what was to be my 3rd fitting, I found out that they still had not started altering my dress. At one point they called and yelled at my sister b/c I did not show up for an appointment. I had not scheduled that appointment as I was out of the state at the time. The seamstress was not very helpful. She seemed annoyed and put out every time we were there. After she called and yelled at my sister, I decided to take my dress else where for the alterations.
I am from out of state and went to visit a friend in Nashville and she took me to this shop. I found "the dress," but shopped around some more before going back on a separate trip to get it. Elizabeth was great to work with, but the other woman who actually measured me when Elizabeth wasn't there wasn't as knowledgeable. I would suggest making sure you work directly with Elizabeth. I called and Elizabeth had said she would reimburse me on the difference in the shipping cost and the sales tax since I am from out of state, but she never did and the dress ended up being way too big for me. After alterations I LOVED my dress and am so happy I went with it. Like I said, Elizabeth was great to work with and really knows her stuff - just make sure she is there when you order it and you should be fine!
My initial experience buying the dress was great- they had the designer I wanted, and I found "the" dress quickly and easily. The woman who was helping us was very nice and helpful.
Then the alterations began. The woman who did the alterations always seemed to be in a bad mood, but was never overtly hostile. Then there kept being issues getting the hemline correct- my dress had some asymmetry, but was hardly all that complicated. When I went in for the final fitting and pick-up, only the alterations lady was there. She literally would not let me put the dress on to make sure the hemline was right, assuring me that it was fine and that I'd only get it "dirty and wrinkled" if I put it on. My suspicions were aroused, so I had a friend come over to my house to help me try it on. The hemline was still wrong- too short in some places, too long in others. With just 10 days before the wedding, I ended up having to take it to someone else who actually knew what she was doing and discovered that essentially all of the alterations had been done improperly- including the fact that there was an additional inch on either side of my waist that could come in- I actually got to have a trim waistline. Because of the bizarre way that the woman at Village Bridal had cut the hem, the second woman (Karen Hendrix) had to basically deconstruct the skirt to let down fabric to start the hemline all over again- luckily there were folds that even made that possible!
So, I'd say Village Bridal is fine if they have the line of dress that you want, but absolutely DO NOT let them touch it for alterations. Go just up the street to Karen Hendrix instead (she truly was a fairy godmother who swooped in at the last minute to make sure I felt beautiful and COMFORTABLE in my dress!).
