n makes it very difficult. From the beginning he mentioned we could do as we pleased with our wedding day, since it is our day. Before we booked we double checked with him what our vision was for our wedding. We had 2 meetings with the venue to go over our plans, I remember trying to give them my vision and ideas, but Dan would rush through the meetings when the itinerary wasn’t done his way. The last meeting we had was 3 weeks out from the wedding, it was Dan, my husband and I which at this point I had everything planned for the big day and when I tried to explain my seating chart he moved right past it and it felt like we had to dig information out from him regarding the step by step process on the day of the wedding. At this point very little help and information was given and sometimes it was hard to reach through emails for further clarification. Our wedding had everything DIY’ed by us, I had written down everything so I could share but I felt like I wasn’t being listened to and he was very adamant on some things he wanted at our wedding. But I stood my ground and he absolutely did not like that, he would raise his voice when I would say “no, I don’t want that”. The day before our wedding we were allowed to bring all of our stuff so we brought all of our DIY’ed projects including vases and floral arrangements. The day before the wedding he said at 11am my daughter will show up and sort through your stuff and we will ask you all the questions we have. I told him the day of the wedding I would rather not answer any questions because I was already anxious enough and would prefer all questions be directed at my sister. He said “that’s okay, we will ask you since you’ll be here.” That was my tipping point because the venue had 8 months to ask us all the questions. On the day of the wedding while my bridesmaids, mothers and I were getting ready we found out there was a separate rehearsal happening at 11am when they should have been focusing getting things ready for our wedding. Dan knew the men from our wedding including dads would be arriving at 11am to hangout and have our photographer take photos of everyone. However, we were unable to do some of those photos because the rehearsal party was passing through or being in the background. He also wanted to change the cocktail hour on the last minute from the original 60min to 90 minutes which was already set on the invitations. The day of, I gave them a timeline of our wedding day because I already knew it was an issue. We had a church ceremony so we ended up getting back to the venue around 5:15ish, so we started dinner at 6pm, during that time we were listening to music that was never part of our list. We had a Mexican wedding (Spanish music we wanted) and all the songs were in English and had commercials. One of the members of vendors came up to us and stated that Dan had gone up to the musicians and told them to play specific music which was never informed to us until later during dinner time which is absolutely not okay. He didn’t pay for any of the vendors and it was our wedding day. When my husband and I went to talk to him, he started to raise his voice at me and he treated me like a child. I still remember it vividly when he raised both hands at me and started pointing his fingers at me. I told him he is not allowed to do that or talk to me like that. I had to step away because I started crying, my husband kept calm and explained to him that he was not allowed to talk to us that way and that he is not to raise his voice or point fingers at me. We had been very professional and polite the entire 8 months. He kept his distance after that incident but it was very difficult working with him since he wanted to do things his way. There were some things that were not placed correctly which I let that slide but they were no coordinators when they never bothered to ask before the wedding day what our plans were or what we had in mind. My sister had to run the whole wedding day because when it came down to the reception there was no coordination from Vine Hill House. The speeches were coordinated by my sister as well because there was no coordination by Dan or VHH. No one can take the beauty from the venue, it is beautiful, as long as you’re okay letting Dan have control of your wedding.

We really appreciated that the VHH team was responsive and communicative and made the process seamless. Plus, the O’Connell wine is delicious, so enjoy! You can tell that Dan and the whole family have poured decades of care into the property, and still love hosting weddings even after doing more than 1000 of them! One of the things that initially made us decide to go with Vine Hill is that coordination is included. Dan and Brigitte guide you through the whole process, with meetings every few months and lists of recommended vendors to pick from. Brigitte is absolutely wonderful, she and Dan had us laughing the whole time and always made us feel so comfortable. When the day came, we were able to entirely let go of logistics and just enjoy the day. They made sure everything ran perfectly — they are true expert event planners and have it all down. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how beautiful the venue was and how smoothly everything went, which is all due to their amazing planning and coordination with our other vendors. what they do and really care about making your event perfect for you. They were extremely responsive, clear, and helpful throughout the planning process. We appreciated how experienced they are–they’ve seen it all and provided helpful guidance while also allowing us to make the wedding unique to us as a couple. We chose all of our vendors off of their recommended list–everyone we worked with was spectacular, and it was really helpful to have a recommended list of vendors familiar with the venue to work from. On the big day, Dan and Brigitte were there with us to make sure everything ran smoothly so that we could just enjoy our big day. Vine Hill House is a beautiful venue and we loved having the ceremony, dinner, and dancing all outside. The weather was comfortable for guests throughout the event (not too hot and not too cold at night–we did recommend guests bring a light jacket for evening). Because the venue is so beautiful, you really don’t need much in terms of extra decor or floral. It’s very well laid out so that guests move between areas smoothly throughout the event. We loved our wedding and would highly recommend Vine Hill House!

s about our experience with Dan & Brigitte. Before the event, it was obvious from every conversation with Dan that he had tons and tons of experience. He was able to take suggestions for "I want it to be like [xyz]...", "I want to do [abc]..." and give solutions from his context of having done [I don't even know how many] weddings at the same venue. He knows how to make things work. He helped us think through every detail beforehand, and both my wife and I walked into our wedding day super confident that everything would be running smoothly so we could actually enjoy the celebration. The day-of execution was also great. I know our Polaroid camera ran out of batteries at one point and without missing a beat Dan found replacements (I still don't know how), and Brigitte wonderfully shepherded my now-wife through the night. Perhaps the best compliment I can give is how easily the wedding ran and how little thought my wife and I had to put into the execution. Writing this now after our wedding, I can honestly say that The Vine Hill House team left us feeling like we were the most important couple in the world, and they will always have a very special place in our hearts!

is golden hour and you can see the sunbeams moving through the vines. The guests are seated at their tables on the lawn, and all of the tables are glowing with numerous little candles. The sunset then starts showing through the clouds with pink, purple and orange hues, and you get to watch the light change. The string lights have just been turned on and make the redwoods grove light up where you will soon gather for your first dance. When the sun finally sets, your dance floor becomes an enchanted forest. There is even a chandelier strung between two arbors. Guests are warmed by the fire pit and stand sipping whiskey at a little bar in the trees. Finally, the stars come out. Our wedding at Vine Hill house was even better than we could have dreamed; it was colorful, vibrant, beautiful, intimate and unique. It was entirely outside but was elegant and classy. The views were spectacular and really showcased what California has to offer. I cannot recommend Vine Hill, Dan, Brigitte and the team enough. They guided us through vendor selection and made the day run seamlessly; we didn't have to worry about anything. The venue was one of the more reasonable places cost-wise; we didn't need a wedding planner, could buy our own alcohol and had the actual owner watching to make sure everything was perfect. Since the property is not a winery, you can buy any type of spirit. All of the vendors that Dan recommends have worked there before, so they are familiar with the setting. Dan even shipped our excess alcohol back to us since we live in a different state. This is the kind of service you need for your wedding experience! You can tell that the team really loves their job and wants to please. Our wedding was absolutely perfect- thank you Vine Hill team!!

From the beginning, we were looking for an experienced vendor who could help support and guide us through the often chaotic and overwhelming wedding-planning process. Dan, the owner of Vine Hill House, and his team took a lot of the stress out of planning. Dan has a lot of experience, knew what questions to ask to keep us on track with the planning process. It should be noted that Dan can be set in his ways and often has his own vision for the event. We had some nontraditional elements in our wedding that required talking through, and in the end they brought a personal touch to the wedding that our guests loved, but be prepared to talk these through and stand your ground on aspects that are important to you. Vine Hill House has a collection of vendors with whom they’ve cultivated strong relationships, which made finding vendors very easy. The vendors we contracted were used to working on the property and the setup and execution was seamless. The property itself is stunning, with views of vineyards and apple trees and a redwood grove that we used as a “tasting grove” for sampling Japanese whiskeys and sakes, which was a huge hit with our guests. There’s a small house that I used to get ready the morning of that is available to the bridal party. The setup on the day of the wedding was very quick, and Brigitte provided kind, personable assistance on the wedding day, popping up at my elbow and helping direct us through the event. She also did an excellent job of gathering and packing up all the remaining decorations, food, and other materials we had brought and having them ready for us to pick up the next day; she was very helpful throughout the weekend. The rates for using Vine Hill House as a venue were reasonable for such a beautiful Wine Country property, and purchasing only two cases of wine from O’Connell Vineyards is required. This is rare in Wine Country—many winery venues ask that you purchase much, much more wine from them or use their wine exclusively for the event, so we were very happy to be able to use mostly our selected beverages for the guests. However, we thought Dan’s estimates for how much alcohol we’d need to buy for the wedding to be very, very generous. We purchased the amounts of wine, beer, and liquor that he recommended, but we ended up with about 100% more alcohol than we needed and gave a lot away (and our group were not light drinkers!). I’ve recommended Vine Hill House to many friends and acquaintances seeking wedding venues in Sonoma County Wine Country!

erlooking a lawn and vineyards that you’d swear is out of the movies…and also…Redwood trees. Best of both worlds! Plus little niche areas to hang or for various activities. The house (included) is ideal for pre-wedding preparation and mid-wedding respite, and there are also outdoor areas if trying to keep say the ladies and guys separated while getting ready or pre-“first look”. The tree-lined wedding area with vineyards behind it is sublime, and the lawn perfect for the dinner service (heat lamps included if needed). The ceremony area is seamlessly repurposed to the dance floor, for boogying under the redwoods. We worked with the owner, Dan, and Annalisa. Fantastic folks whose sole focus seemed to be making our event as amazing as possible. Tremendous attention to details, lots of advance checklists to make sure nothing is missed, pre-event walkthroughs…nothing was left to chance. We never really got nervous about us “messing up” at the wedding as we were convinced Dan would simply not let it happen - all bases were covered. VHH as a private event venue has more flexibility around things like what beverages are allowed (e.g., not just wine like at wineries), and are more liberal with modest outdoor noise and end time than other places we looked at. It’s a wonderful size, not too big for our 60-person wedding and I’m sure they could do ~150 people comfortably. It’s also its own space, so there aren’t other activities like wine tasting or other events going on. Sonoma County wedding venues aren’t cheap, but overall we found VHH a good value for what was a top-notch wedding. For things like catering and DJ, they have a very short “approved vendor” list. While this initially concerned me, the upside is those vendors have special packages for VHH that cover/include things that might be done a la carte otherwise. It also allows Dan/VHH to ensure things will be at the high quality level he knows they can deliver. We used Park Avenue for catering (praised separately) and our one contact there (who worked closely with VHH) handled all the food, rental, tables, glassware, linen, etc. as part of the package they offer at VHH. We felt the included options gave us plenty to choose from. For things outside the package, the caterer handles all that directly with the rental company, and the few additions we went for (a “queen table” for the wedding party and one larger round table) were extremely reasonable. Saying this as it made our lives a ton easier just having to work with these few people, who then handled a ton of other details, vs some places that might have had us account for things separately. In hindsight compared to other venues we considered, the limited vendor options and vendor-special “VHH packages” might have actually saved us a bit of money and absolutely saved us time and stress. We’ve been surprised how many of our guests said things like “best wedding ever”. While “it takes a village” for that to happen, Vine Hill House and their team were front-and-center in us having a wedding day that exceeded our biggest hopes and dreams.

noma, and Healdsburg and struggled to find one that didn't feel like a "wedding factory" (or that wasn't wildly overpriced). Our search was over as soon as we got out of the car at Vine Hill House! The property is absolutely gorgeous with the best vineyard views, and while Dan and his team host dozens of weddings each year, it still feels personal and authentic. I think a huge part of this is because this is Dan's family property, and you can tell how much pride he takes in it and the experience they are providing to you and your guests. So many of our guests told us it was the most beautiful wedding they'd ever been to, even though we hardly did any extra decor — it's just that special of a venue. Bonus points in wine country: you can go beyond 10pm, have hard alcohol at the bar, and supplement the O'Connell wines with your own selections! On top of this, Dan's expertise and guidance is hugely helpful and allowed us to plan our wedding ourselves and save the cost of hiring a planner. They were so helpful and supportive through not one but two COVID reschedules and made our day (when it finally came!) incredibly special. I simply cannot recommend Vine Hill enough. Go see for yourself!

After a second round of searching for venues that had availability for our date, we visited VHH and immediately knew we had found our venue. Then COVID, and we had to change our date, and Dan was willing to work with us to pick a backup date. To us and all couples that had to reschedule, he offered the ability to host a smaller gathering while waiting things out, at no additional cost. We didn't take him up on this because things opened up quickly enough to host the main event, but really appreciated that he was going out of his way to help us, especially considering that it had been such a hard year for him and all others in the wedding and private party industry. VHH is the perfect place to have an outdoor wedding in Sonoma, and Dan, the owner, knows exactly how to throw the perfect wedding and reception. We (the couple) have had the benefit of going to several Sonoma weddings before hosting our own, and we quickly learned the importance of shade before the sun sets and sources of warmth after the sun sets. Dan has the evening planned out perfectly so guests are in shade for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and then dinner, with patio heaters if it gets chilly after sundown. In addition the space is laid out perfectly so that everything is compact and easy to find, while still spaced out enough that guests (and the wedding couple) can find moments to themselves. The space is also wired for sound so our DJ could easily make sure that everyone was heard during the ceremony and speeches, and enjoy the music during dancing. As part of the wedding package, you have use of a private house all day, and we didn't really understand the benefit of this, so let me tell you it is so nice to have access to a private bathroom and a place to catch your breath between ceremony and dinner, all while still being able to see your guests having a great time right outside. Our guests couldn't stop raving about how beautiful the view was, both during and after the event. Several times during set up and during the event we would just stare off into the distance, down the hill of grapes to the valley and water below, thinking how lucky we were to get married at such a beautiful place.

They made so many wonderful recommendations of vendors because they know what they are talking about. It took away so much time from having to look people up. I trusted in them and so glad I did because our wedding was absolutely perfect from start to finish. They allow you to just focus on the day and having fun that you don't even realize how much work is going on in the background. They work VERY hard to make your day perfect! Our day was better than we would have ever expected and I truly give a lot of credit to their team and the venue itself. People were taken back by the whole thing. Seriously consider getting married here, it was the best decision we ever made, besides getting married :)

Despite some early delays in communication (which were likely due to our wedding being so far away - we booked 2 years out), we always felt that our wedding was in good hands with Dan and Dawnyel. They were very organized and helpful, especially in the months leading up to the wedding, which was a Godsend for me as I planned it alone from across the country. I highly recommend hiring Dawnyel as a day-of coordinator - she was on top of everything, set all of our décor up beautifully, kept in communication with our vendors throughout the day, was super sweet and honestly really fun to be around! All of my bridesmaids were raving about her as well. I am still hearing from my guests how "perfect" my wedding was, mostly because of the gorgeous venue & the general vibe it had. The trees surrounding the ceremony space made the 100 degree day feel comfortable, the beautiful vineyard views from dinner seemed to be a hit and the market lights over the dining area, dance floor and trees everywhere gave our wedding the romantic feel we were looking for. Dan & Dawnyel took care of everything in a very organized and professional way and there was nothing I needed to do on the day of my wedding - they made it perfect and allowed my husband & I to just relax and have fun with our guests. Dan's personal connection really helped us commit to Vine Hill House as our venue. We also had Dawnyel as our day-of help and I honestly don't know what we would have done without her! The setups looked stunning and absolutely perfect. Throughout the planning process, friends and family all warned us that "something will go wrong" but if something went wrong on our day, I certainly didn't know about it. Dawnyel had everything handled and somehow managed to be smiling and positive the entire day. And she made sure I always had a full glass of champagne during the reception! :) All of our vendors shared that they love working at Vine Hill House and we can see why. Our friends and family who attended the wedding all said it was the best they'd been to. The property is gorgeous, warm, friendly, and exactly what we could have hoped for for our day. We love that we're in the wine club and can continue to visit our special place for years to come!

Dan cares so much about each couple, and all of their guests. I felt like he was either my father or uncle, that's how much I felt cared for and looked out for! There is no oversight, and he keeps the night smooth as can be! As for Dawnyel, wow! I think she is 6 women put into one body! She was getting things done I didn't even think about yet! She was beyond attentive to everything going on. She was delegating to vendors, coming up with solutions, decorating, fixing dresses, cleaning, setting up, you name it! All while having the best attitude, and constantly reminding me how fast the day would go by so that I could take in the moments! Even before the big day, Dan and Dawnyel both spent hours with my husband and I, guiding us through the process of planning our destination wedding, giving us suggestions and money-saving options, and graciously accepting and organizing a million shipments of wedding stuff from Florida! :) If you want the most beautiful wedding surrounded by true professionals that care about you like family, you absolutely have to get married here!
