Vinegar Hill Farm is a charming theatre-style wedding and event venue located in Arundel, ME. Though it was built in 1887 and boasts a proud history, the venue itself has been reinvigorated through renovation. Transformed into the modern building that exists today, it features all of the latest amenities and facilities. The name of the venue is shrouded in legend and tells the story of a previous farmer, a barrel full of fermented apples, and a hill. It is said that the barn was built by former Wisconsin Governor, William E. Smith. It stayed in the Smith family for over a century before being purchased in 1997 by Adrienne Grant. Under Adrienne’s ownership, he turned the barn into a functioning playhouse, which operated up until his retirement in 2015. He sold the building to Tim Harrington and Debbie Lennon, two business partners who renovated the venue into its current state. Since then, it has welcomed famous musicians, performers, and various kinds of events such as weddings, reunions, and fundraisers. There are several spaces which are available to you when planning the design of your wedding. Outside features a quaint garden with towering trees and lush vegetation. String lights are suspended above the space to give it an enchanting atmosphere during nighttime gatherings. This area can also be used as an outdoor ceremony space. In addition, a large pavilion tent is also available outside and can be used in the event of less preferable weather conditions. Inside the main event area, the barn is a large and cozy space that is ideal for hosting receptions. Its original post-and-beam design gives off a rustic feel while its impressive 2,000-square-feet area can accommodate up to 140 seated or 220 standing guests.
