We are not part of a church, and neither one of us wanted a religious ceremony. We wanted a ceremony focused on us and on our love for each other. This is hard to do when you don't have a pastor or friend who is ordained. Debra put in the work to get to know us via zoom! We talked, video conferenced, and corresponded via email throughout the entire wedding planning process. Debra asked us individual questions about ourselves, our families, our upbringings, our philosophies, and much more. She explored us both as people to get a good grasp on who she was going to be marrying. Debra had us complete assessments, and coaching to have us analyze the hard questions, and bring up scenarios we may not have considered prior to marrying. When I say she is thorough, I mean it. Debra started out a complete stranger to us both. On our wedding day the ceremony that Debra wrote, had family, friends, and friends of our families in tears. She not only got to know us, but through her words helped our family members who didn't know all of our story feel closer to us both. This is our one wedding, and she was a large part in it's perfection.
