Jonelle is the owner and photographer for Wailea Photography. She met with me in advance and we went the sites for both my ceremony and reception, which were two different locations. We discussed the best lighting and if I had anything in particular I wanted to be sure to capture. She suggested we choose a specific side of the bay so that there would be shade for my guests, as well as shade helping with the lighting for the best photos, and pointed out that we'd have three different natural backgrounds which all had a different color and texture (green plant life, black rocks, blue ocean). It was perfect because it ended up being an 80+ degree day so my guests were happy with the shade, and we were out of the way so beach-goers weren't interrupted. She helped guide the marriage performer (my god-father) to pick the best spot for performing the ceremony so she could get good photos and the guests would all be able to see and hear us. Afterwards, she quickly organized our guests to get a group shot, and then we stayed behind for a few family photos and couples shots.
She moved to the reception site with us and took more photos of us on the beach, running, jumping, sitting, kissing, etc. She captured all of the usual. She could tell I was pretty much done with photos and wanted to socialize with my guests, but she gently coaxed me to get a couple more shots that I love! She also did a good job of capturing candid shots that I didn't even realize she'd taken until viewing the proofs. Once done with our couples photos, she got more candids of our guests and captured all of the essentials: décor, the bouquet, our rings, the cakes, etc. She was easygoing, our guests didn't even notice her at the reception shooting photos, and we had many compliments on her energy when she shot family and friends arriving to the ceremony site. She managed to do all of this in just 3 hours and we received over 500 photos! (She guarantees 300+ photos in 3 hours.)
Jonelle was a pleasure to have as our photographer and I felt we got more for our money than I could've ever expected- it was a fantastic experience.
