We had a wonderful experience with Wainwright House & their in-house caterer Bartleby & Sage. The entire wedding process went smoothly, from the menu tasting and rehearsal to the actual wedding day itself. I was genuinely impressed by the coordination of every detail, particularly on the day of the wedding. We worked with Leslie, whose expertise and attention ensured everything ran flawlessly. Our wedding day was magical and our guests LOVED the property, it's very charming and doesn't feel like your typical wedding venue, not to mention the food was spot on. Wainwright House is truly a memorable venue!
Wainwright House is an absolutely stunning venue that offers a picturesque setting overlooking the water. The caterer and event planner Bartley & Sage are detailed in ensuring your vision for your event is achieved. They offered an elegant atmosphere for our Wedding Anniversary that made it perfect.
The Wainwright House itself boasts timeless architecture and charming interiors, seamlessly blending classic sophistication with modern amenities. The ambiance is warm and inviting. Its expansive grounds and waterfront views create an idyllic backdrop for all celebrations. All of our guests were impressed with this venue and even booked it for their upcoming event.
It's truly a gem that elevates any experience with its unparalleled charm and elegance.
The Wainwright House provided my husband and I our dream wedding and the best of both worlds. While we are local to NYC and are very connected to a church in our neighborhood, we also wanted a beautiful venue with an outdoor setting.
The Wainwright House was everything we dreamed of. The elegance of the historical mansion, paired with the beautiful water setting, and the ability to have different locations within one venue for our cocktail hour, reception, and after party, and the service made it an incredible choice.
The tent itself is draped so beautifully. One major benefit of this venue is that you get to work with Bartleby & Sage for catering. Over a month later, all of our guests are still raving about the food at our wedding. The passed h'orderves were so delicious and beautiful. We were able to completely customize the menu to match out taste without quality be compromised at all. Your guest will be saying this is the BEST food they have ever had at a wedding. Bartleby & Sage was a guiding light throughout our special day and we are forever grateful to have decided to work with Leslie and her team.
Our experience with Bartleby & Sage was extraordinary; if we could give 10 stars we would. Our wedding on October 19 at the Wainwright House exceeded our expectations 10 fold. We tried to think of one thing we would change to improve the experience - and cannot. The Wainwright House is stunning - much nicer in person! the properties on site where guests can stay were gorgeous. Fascinating history and unbelievable location. The staff, and Mary the manager were available and very accommodating. Leslie, Barbara and the team from Bartleby & Sage were consistently professional, available, kind, supportive and true professionals. When we mentioned to other vendors we were using them they always responded by saying that Leslie and her team are top notch, and they were. Our wedding was elegant, warm, and perfectly executed. The wait staff were professional, elegant and very kind. Delivering hot food, all together, gracefully and quickly. Nothing went wrong. Our guests are STILL talking about the food and the elegance of the experience. We are both trained chefs (with high standards) and were incredibly impressed with the quality, preparation and presentation of the food, and Leslie's thoughtfulness and generosity. Our cake was stunning....and delicious. Leslie and her team handled situations with grace, professionalism and kindness, and created the exact experience we discussed with her. My sisters MIL told her that my sister had a great wedding, but this was the best she's ever attended. We heard that repeatedly. We cannot adequately express our appreciation and gratitude to the entire team for creating a beautiful and memorable experience for us and our guests that we are proud of and thoroughly enjoyed. They really helped create what will be some of our fondest and most meaningful lifelong memories. Thanks so much! Sabrina & Michael
We loved getting married at Wainwright House; it was the perfect venue for our wedding. Echoing other reviewers, any negative reviews were from before Bartleby & Sage became the point of contact for Wainwright's weddings. Wainwright was such a beautiful space and easy venue to work with that we decided to also have our departure brunch in the manor.
Wainwright House is absolutely stunning. The manor itself was a beautiful setting for family photos and our first look. We used the second floor rooms and library to get ready. It was a clean, comfortable, and large space. The house is in good condition and there are multiple bathrooms upstairs and downstairs. There's also a bedroom where the bride and groom can stay. It was perfect for the bridal getting ready photos.
The grounds overlook the Long Island sound and have a view of the Manhattan skyline in the distance. We held our ceremony and cocktail hour on the grounds before moving into the tent. One note is that the outdoor ceremony space is on grass that slightly declines towards the water. It wa perfect visually and acoustically, but guests with limited mobility might need some help getting to their seats. The grounds have a beautiful sunset over the water. Wainwright has an outdoor tent with the same view. Outdoor music does have to stop by 10pm, but we seamlessly moved indoors for an after party with a DJ in the manor. The venue is 5-15 minutes from hotels in Rye, Greenwich, and White Plains. Rye has a lot to do for guests, as well as bars for guests who want to continue the festivities.
We absolutely loved working with and getting married at Wainwright House!
All the bad reviews are old from before Leslie from Bartleby & Sage took over as the exclusive caterer and priority point of contact to coordinate weddings here. This is an absolutely incredible venue with beautiful views - we couldn't believe how lucky we were to be able to have our wedding here at a reasonable price. There are a few drawbacks biggest ones being no amplified music outside, some additional rentals needed if you're having a bigger wedding, and needing to stay closer to Greenwich CT for hotels since there isn't much in the area. But, the alternative of having dancing inside, spending a little extra, or getting transportation 15-20m away really isn't much compared to other venues that have those things built in but is more expensive overall.
Our wedding here was a dream and would definitely recommend!!
The Wainwright House was a gorgeous location to celebrate with our nearest and dearest on our special day. We got ready there in the morning-- they had a beautiful area for hair and make-up, plenty of rooms for families / little ones who needed their own space, even a yoga room where I did a little pre-ceremony meditation! The reception was truly stunning, hard for it not to be in such a gorgeous location-- the house itself is so stately, the waterfront so dreamy, and the sunset stole the show! Every detail was looked after by the diligent team at Bartleby and Sage. They gave us recommendations for all local vendors, who were equally exquisite! We are so grateful to have had them all throughout the process!! Can't recommend more!!
I am so very disappointed with this Venue... do not book a wedding here. They do not care about you nor the safety of others. They are the complete opposite of what a non-profit means; unethical and avaricious. Shame on them and shame on you if you book with them.
Professionalism is extremely important to me and I never heard back when I requested a viewing. All I got was a subscription to their email newsletter that is irrelevant to wedding events. Clearly they are not organized and it is a big red flag when they can’t even respond to a viewing request. Look elsewhere, unless you want a headache.
DO NOT BOOK A WEDDING HERE. This organization is a disaster!!!! TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
These people have no idea how to run a business and lied to me and my family. The organization made a huge mistake on their part and tried to cover it up. We canceled our wedding and lost all of our downpayment even though we were assured by the team and our contract that we would get it back.
While the Wainright house itself is beautiful location. The team working there is very unorganized and was a huge disappointment. It was extremely upsetting to be lied to and have money stole from.
Save yourself the trouble and book somewhere else!
Hate to write a bad review but I really think they need to work on their customer service. First, we couldn’t get hold of anyone to arrange a viewing, and so in the end we just showed up, and were allowed to show ourselves around. We were told that there was no minimum guest count. They only do 10 outdoor weddings a year with music, but we were told there were still some of these available. So we got very excited and started planning to have our wedding here. The next battle was trying to find out what dates they had available - we sent emails, we called, no one got back to us. My fiancé got in touch with the caterer (they only have one) and arranged to meet with her to discuss arrangements, but she kept cancelling on him because if rain, and being too tired. Then he finally met up with her, and we figured we had made progress. Again, she didn’t say anything about a minimum guest count, and he told her what numbers we were expecting. We followed up via email, no reply. For a while. Eventually, we got hold of her - suddenly, there was a minimum guest count, and all the outdoor music spaces were booked up. The minimum guest could is also due to go up by an extra 50 people for weddings in 2019. All in all, we wasted A LOT of time and energy on this place, and were pretty crushed to find we couldn’t get married here after all. It’s a beautiful place, but if this is how the6 treat you before they’ve taken your deposit, one can only imagine what kind of experience you’d have afterwards...
We got married June 9th 2018. My wife found the Wainwright House from online research. The minute we walked in we knew that this was going to be the venue. It is a gorgeous view right on the water with the most perfect sunset. All of our guests were raving about the venue. We decided to have the bridal party stay on the two properties. The Fonrose house was perfect. The carriage house was great but one down side. They have yoga going on all morning on Saturday and Sunday. Not a lot of privacy for you and your guests. Other than that small problem it was absolutely beautiful. You will deal mostly with Julia with Cornerstone Caterers however Mary at the Wainwright was also available and helpful whenever we needed her. Would absolutely choose this venue 100% all over again.
Wainwright is a stunning venue! And Corner Stone caterers do such a great job putting on weddings here (PSA- coordinate with them to book). The house is right on the long-island sound, facing west so you get the sunsets in the evening. The house itself is beautiful too. They have a tent set up all summer for larger groups, which is connected to the house-- a great perk if it's raining, the only thing that changes is that the cocktail party moves into the house.
Corner Stone Caterers & Wainwright House were perfect for our wedding! Not only are the views at Wainwright spectacular, but the House itself is warm, welcoming, and very convenient. I've also received several compliments about the delicious food provided by Corner Stone. Our wedding day could never have been so perfect though if it weren't for the amazing teams at Wainwright and Corner Stone. They are incredibly responsive, flexible, and easy to work with. Gary and Julia were on top of all of the details of the wedding and made sure it went off without a hitch. I highly recommend using Corner Stone Caterers and Wainwright House for a wedding or other event!
Wainwright House is the perfect wedding venue. I couldn't be happier with my decision to get married there. Julia and the rest of Corner Stone Caterers did a tremendous job. I honestly have no complaints.
I was very excited about looking at Wainwright House as a possible wedding venue. The pictures on their website and wedding package looked gorgeous. However, I never ended up even going to take a look because of how bad their initial customer service was. I got bounced back and forth between several people when trying to make an appointment to view the property and honestly their attitude and tone of voice over the phone sounded like we were talking about a funeral, not a wedding. They said they'd email me to let me know a time I could come see the property and never even followed up. Finally I asked if I could still come by. They didn't acknowledge their oversight and gave vague responses and finally suggested literally one time slot I could come by over an entire weekend. I was really starting to feel like I was a huge bother to them and this was around me potentially paying thousands down the road for my wedding there? If this was how they were acting before I paid them a cent I wasn't going to find out how it would be after. I understand they might be busy and have other events going on, but their overall communication was so bad I couldn't imagine going through planning an entire wedding with them.
Wainwright is one of the most beautiful places - not just wedding venues - I have ever seen. As a holistic healing center, it has a very calming vibe. The setting is stunning, with a gorgeous location on a harbor off of the Long Island Sound. The view is breath-taking. The house itself is gorgeous in an understated and classic way, which is exactly what my husband and I were looking for. The tent is attached to the house, which is a big plus. It is huge and has very high cielings which provide a lot of flexibility for decor. We had the most amazing outdoor ceremony ever, and thankfully, all of our guests were seated in the shade. It could not have been more beautiful and we ended the night so happy we chose Wainwright.
if you want a storybook wedding, pick the wainwright house. its a stunning setting on the water, with a HUGE tent for the reception and beautiful lawn for the ceremony and cocktail house. the grounds are meticulously maintained, and the staff is incredible. the house itself is a gorgeous old french chateau style mansion - which can be used for a backup plan in the case of bad weather. there's even a small house on the grounds we were able to use for the night for our after-party - and all our guests were able to sleep over!! incredible, incredible wedding!!
