Take a step back in time when you host your wedding at Waldmann Brewery, a warm, welcoming one-of-a-kind restaurant-brewery and outdoor biergarten in Saint Paul. Originally established in 1857, Waldmann was re-opened in 2017 after being lovingly restored to its original charm. Founded by German immigrants Anton and Mina Waldmann, who dreamed of bringing a piece of their "home" to the frontiers of Minnesota Territory, Waldmann thrives once again as the oldest surviving commercial building in Saint Paul, its only surviving Civil War-era saloon building, and a designated and protected historic site.
Waldmann has a humble, welcoming, and casual atmosphere that harkens back a century, yet still provides everything you'll need to create a memorable event. Waldmann's lovely outdoor patio evokes the biergartens of Europe, seats up to 110, and can be protected from the elements by a variety of canopies at your option for an extra fee. Indoors, your guests will be immersed in the unpretentious grace of Waldmann's four distinctive rooms, two with fireplaces, each seating 20-25 guests, and featuring flickering lamplights, original oils and engravings and hand-crafted furnishings. Gazing through the hand-blown windows that blur the reality outside, Waldmann's spell is complete--and its romance hard to deny!
Waldmann's history is inextricably entwined with the introduction of German lager beer to America in the 1850s, and its approachable and award-winning German lagers and ales are sure to impress the most discerning beer fans on your guest list. Waldmann's rotating non-alcoholic beer, brewed on site with the same care as its other fine beers, respects the non-drinkers among your guests. Waldmann is also a full-service restaurant, featuring a menu crafted with pride and with natural, local ingredients. eeting to the big day itself. The space worked well, both inside and out. The bridal party gathered and prepared upstairs, the groom’s party downstairs, and the ceremony and reception took place under a large tent in the Biergarten. Luck would have it that we needed that tent as our day ended up with some weather which was quite a bit colder and wetter than we would have liked. Tom and his staff took the rain in stride and maintained a positive and cheerful attitude which was greatly appreciated…and the warming German fare tasted that much more delicious and comforting. This is not the place for a giant party as indicated by the capacity limits, but is an absolutely perfect location for a smaller wedding. This was evidenced by one of our cousins telling us it was the best wedding he and his family had ever been to. All in all, if you are looking for a unique, intimate setting for your event, let Tom and the Waldmann team take care of you - you’ll be happy you did.

Tom, the owner, was incredibly helpful in planning. He was prompt on response time, thorough, and provided very helpful recommendations for food and drink services.
The food and drink itself are outstanding. There is no better German food in Minnesota. There is no better beer in my opinion almost anywhere in the US.
The environment Tom and his staff provided was second to none. The service from the staff was outstanding all night. Tom let us set up some small decorations to help customize the room a bit. The room itself was so cozy cozy and welcoming. His brewery is designed with his customers in mind.
At the end of the night we headed out to the Biergarten and it was just beautiful. There was a Christmas tree set up and with all the heaters outside it was almost... dare I say... warm outside in December in Minnesota.
I would recommend Waldmann to anyone for their engagement party. There is no better place.
