Could not have asked for a better venue. The setting was perfect, the staff was exceptional and everyone seemed to genuinely care about making our day perfect. Dave Becker is a GEM...
, and actually the person who sold us on committing to the venue! We had an absolutely perfect day and received countless compliments on the beautiful venue.
This venue was exactly what we were looking for and the staff went above and beyond.
We booked our venue roughly 10 months before our wedding and Dave Becker, the Museum's Head o...
f Security, was amazing throughout the entire experience. He made sure that there was no reason to be anxious or nervous. He sent me floor layouts, table arrangements, took care of the communication between caterers, DJ's, and anything else that needed to run by him.
The venue provides, chairs, tables, rehearsal dinner space for a fee with hours to decorate before the big day, a sound system, table arranging and the ability to use our own caterer with a Pre-Authorization Contract. This was more than any other venue we looked at and definitely the venue that made our wedding affordable.
Our wedding had roughly 290-300 people and they did their absolute best to accommodate all of the guests. The outdoor amphitheater, where our ceremony was held, was the perfect place. The guests were all able to see, the breeze off the Thea Foss Waterway was great and with the sun settling on an 85 Degree day, we couldnt have asked for more.
I would recommend this venue to anyone who is looking for great flexibility and helpful staff!
This is the most excellent venue for your wedding. The museum staff went out of their way to make sure my daughter's wedding was everything she wanted it to be. They were support...
ive, creative, sensitive, and by the time the day came we felt like they were part of our family! I can't say enough about the excellent quality of service they provided from our first visit (and all of the visits we made over the months leading up to the wedding to measure, chat, and seek advice) all the way through the rehearsal, set up, the ceremony and reception, and the final take down. They are the best! It was a beautiful, remarkable experience and the memories will last a lifetime. Thank you to the best wedding venue we could have hoped for!
My wedding was over the weekend before halloween and the history museum had a haunted house at the same time as my wedding. I couldnt have asked more a fun and unique wedding venu...
e. Mark (the museum event coordinator) worked with me every step of the way and was very pleasent to work with.
The History Museum provided the perfect wedding reception venue. A beautiful building in scenic downtown Tacoma (which was great for photos). Everyone had a fantastic time. Plenty ...
of room for dancing and those who wanted to take a break or weren't too keen on dancing had the option of viewing the exhibits. The History Museum staff was incredibly professional and accommodating — providing complimentary extras that other venues would have charged for (like the use of their flat screen in the lobby for our photo slideshow, use of easels for signage, etc). The only (small) issue we had: We asked if our DJ, who was set up in the Grand Lobby, would be heard by our guests one level up on the Mezzanine, or if he should also set up speakers/equipment on the Mezzanine. We were told announcements made by our DJ would carry up to the Mezzanine. Ordinarily, they would have. But with all of our guests talking, it was hard to hear when the DJ made announcements (e.g. calling tables by number to the buffet dinner). An easy fix by possibly having your DJ place speakers on the Mezzanine level as well. I'm knocking one star off of the quality rating because of this but overall, a fabulous experience!
Compared to the nearby TAM and Glass Museum, this place is a steal! We rented the lobby (with 3-story high ceilings!) and the mezzanine. The entire staff was great, letting us se...
t up the mezzanine early, drop supplies off during the day, etc. They were very friendly and accommodating and easy to get in touch with. Tables and chairs are provided, as well as security, which is nice to have when you're downtown. They made the evening a breeze, at a cost of WAY less than 5 grand!
