Hi! We're Zach and Katie of Water & Whimsy. Travel wedding videographers; retired college athletes; wanderers; (big) dreamers; "Survivor" junkies; and, most importantly, best friends. If you've made it here, we're so stoked you're interested in our work!
If you're looking for more of an untraditional approach and product, you're in the right place. Our goal is to be so much more than a "vendor" to you (cringe)! We want to get to know you... become friends with you... and provide you a unique experience from start to finish. On wedding day, we want to capture the real you - not the posed, staged, stuffy you. Clapping the mud off your hiking boots, stopping the car for more beer, screaming "we did it" at the top of your lungs... you know, that kind of stuff. It's those perfectly imperfect moments that we eat right up.
Together, we have 6 years of experience in video production (wow, time really does fly)! And we don't see that ever coming to an end. We have mad love for this industry and working together as a team.

Our film was, simply put, amazing. It's hard to actually describe in words but it possesses all of the energy that I felt on our wedding day. You can literally FEEL the love and joy radiating through everybody - and I'm not the only one who feels that way. I've shared with many friends / family who weren't able to join us on our wedding day and they all have said that it makes them feel a little bit like they were there, experiencing the day with us. My husband and I are so excited to watch this on all of our anniversaries to come (though I must admit that I've watched it on a random Tuesday since we received it - more than a normal amount). The second I watched the video, I was already thinking about other special moments that Katie and Zach could capture for us in the future. This video will forever be one of our most special keepsakes. THANK YOU does not, and will not ever, suffice for your beautiful work!
Where do I even begin!? When my husband and I first watched our wedding video, we cried the entire time. Even now (after watching it over and over), we still cry. Katie and Zach did an incredible job at capturing all of the love shared by me and Ethan as well as all of our family and friends. They captured the beauty of Kauai in such a breathtaking way! The video captured every moment I could have possibly asked for! They joined us on a Na Pali Boat Tour and captured the most amazing dolphin and underwater shots. Katie and Zach are the most talented individuals!! And not only that, they are wonderful people! They brought such joy to us the whole wedding day/weekend. They were encouraging and just a blast to be around. The pictures and video were more than I could have even asked for. I would 10/10 recommend to everyone to hire Katie and Zach. I have goosebumps just thinking about our day and now need to watch our video AGAIN. Katie and Zach, we love you guys and think the world of you both! Thank you for capturing our dream wedding day.
Zach and Katie were an absolute joy to work with! Professional and personal, they made us feel incredibly at ease! The video turned out gorgeous and we could not have been happier! We highly recommend selecting these two for your wedding!
We absolutely love our film! Katie and Zach did an amazing job capturing our whole day.. the emotions, incorporating our personal vows, the people, and all of the details we spent so much time on. We are so thankful we have the video to look back on and we can re-live the day whenever we want! Katie and Zach truly felt like they were friends we have always known and were such a big help in more ways than just being our wedding videographers. When we changed our wedding venue due to COVID, they did not hesitate to support us and still be there for our day. We would recommend them to any of our friends for sure!
2020 couple here! Navigating through a pandemic and planning a wedding is mind blowing, but having flexible and compassionate vendors brings so much joy to our special day! W&W films are uniquely catered to the couples. They captured and pieced together the most beautiful parts seamlessly. To see our loved ones moving and enjoying our day is priceless—you can’t put an amount on this. 10/10 highly recommend, you won’t regret reliving your day—over&over&over again. Trust!
Our experience of working with Water and Whimsy was truly amazing. We replanned our whole wedding in just over a month and Katie was so helpful, I'd like to say she was our second wedding planner ;) The replanning process was stressful, but she was there to help, give ideas, and just listen... all the things we needed in such a confusing time. We are SO OBSESSED with our video. We can't turn it off and we are crossing our fingers that video's can somehow soon be displayed as art work in a home?!?! The way the music matches with the footage is just so good, especially in our highlight. Not only does it capture our love so well, but it captures the whole night spot on. We wanted our wedding to be one that was emotional, heartfelt, but also a big party with our favorite people and it's exactly that. We haven't once pressed play and been able to hide a tear. We will forever continue to recommend them to every friend of ours soon to be married, we would be doing a disservice if we didn't.
I was so obsessed with my film. Y'all incorporated exactly what I asked for. I like that my video was special to me, it was unique and I feel like it captured our vibe. It brought back all the feels and I cry happy tears every time I watch it. I loved the voice overs of special parts of the day and the candidness of the film. To be honest, there were so many parts of the film that while I was watching that didn't even realize y'all had captured that. I liked that I never felt uncomfortable or like there was a camera in my face. It was such a fun experience. All my guest enjoyed the 2 of you. I loved the drone footage, SO HAPPY that was an option. YES I would most definitely recommend to any couples looking for a videographer. This was by far some of the best money I spent on my wedding. THANK YOU!!!
Zach & Katie were absolutely amazing to work with throughout our entire wedding planning process. They communicate very well and make sure to ask all the questions to ensure you're getting exactly what you want out of your video. They are SO fun to work with and there was ZERO stress. We cannot watch our wedding video without smiling and remembering how absolutely beautiful our day was. They captured it so perfectly and we truly feel like we can re-live our wedding day. We cannot thank Zach & Katie enough!
Zach and Katie do amazing work! They were our number one choice...but then Covid hit. Since we had to change our date, we weren't able to keep them on (because of their high demand) but they were extremely understanding and gracious. Highly recommend booking them for your wedding!
If you're considering booking with Zach and Katie, you should absolutely do it!! Our wedding video does a perfect job at capturing the entire day and we just love it! They got so many different shots that I wasn't even aware that they were shooting. It's been so much fun being able to re-live our wedding day and we can't stop watching it!
Zach and Katie were both so much fun to work with and get to know. Leading up to the wedding, Zach was always available by email to answer any questions that we had. They were both easy going and always were ready with ideas of what shots they wanted to get.
I would definitely recommend them to anyone considering a videographer!
We are absolutely in love with our video from Zach and Katie! We had a really hard time finding a cinematic videographer in our style, and we weren't sure that we would have wedding video at all. Then we stumbled upon Zach and Katie and are SO glad that we did! They were a pleasure to work with and answered all of our questions. They were fun and easygoing on our wedding day and we honestly didn't even notice they were there during our ceremony. They captured all of our raw emotions and favorite memories with our friends and family and we can't stop watching our video. Seriously incredible. We can't say enough good things about working with them and would highly recommend them to anyone! One of my bridesmaids liked working with Zach and Katie so much that they are shooting her wedding as well. You can't go wrong with Zach & Katie!
We are so glad we hired Zach and Tip of the Mitt Videography for our wedding. Zach was great at working with us, our guests, and our photographer. He really got to know us during our wedding day and did an excellent job picking the special moments to feature in our video to perfectly capture us as a couple and our wedding. We love the amazing video and are so glad to have it to remember our day. We highly recommend Tip of the Mitt.
As a photographer myself, it was very important to have our videographers and photographers fit my artistic vision for our wedding. Zach and Katie were amazing throughout the entire day. We were a little anxious about having cameras video tape us all day but I can honestly say they were awesome at being discreet and were very professional. Their creativity and editorial skills truly helped capture our big day perfectly. We're beyond thankful and excited that we'll always have this video to cherish and reminisce the time we had with our closest friends and family. We’d recommend them over and over again!
Having a wedding in Northern Michigan, while gorgeous, can often come with limited options in the event industry. My now husband and I were in search for videographers who had an artful flair in their work, an eye for design and captured the in between moments that are so special to look back on. We couldn't find anyone with these skills until we came across Zach & Katie! We could tell by watching some of the videos in their portfolio that they were highly talented and most importantly passionate about what they do. They were incredibly professional while being a blast to work with the day of! They made us feel super comfortable being video taped all day and never once made us feel like we had to do something for the sake of the camera. They let those raw, real & emotional moments come out naturally. Now almost a year after our wedding I still tear up watching their perfect compilation of our day, as it floods back all the emotions and memories we had together and feels as if we were reliving it. I couldn't have imagined not only not having a videographer but not having Zach and Katie preserve our wedding day - they gave us a gift that we get to have as a keepsake forever. Would highly recommend having them as part of your day as well!
We can’t say enough good things about Zach and Katie! We met them on the day of our wedding and immediately I felt like I had known them for a long time. They made us feel so comfortable and we had so much fun with them. Our video is to die for and I’m so glad we decided to capture our special day on film. We have watched our video a million times and it gave others a chance to see it too who were not able to attend. I highly recommend these two and would work with them over and over again. Thank you Zach and Katie for being so awesome and giving us such an amazing gift that we will forever cherish!!!
