We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect wedding venue than Waterfall Lodge! It was everything we were looking for and more. From the moment we found this place, we knew it was the one. We wanted to get married in a beautiful forest setting, and Waterfall Lodge delivered beyond our expectations. The property is absolutely breathtaking—surrounded by lush greenery and towering trees, it created the most magical and intimate atmosphere for our ceremony.
One of the things we loved most about Waterfall Lodge was the ability to stay on-site, which made the entire weekend so much more relaxed and stress-free. We were able to enjoy the full experience without worrying about transportation or logistics. It was such a joy to have the entire wedding weekend unfold right there, and the fact that so many of our guests could also stay on-site made it even more special.
The team at Waterfall Lodge was fantastic. They were incredibly accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. Anytime we needed a lift around the property or had a question, they were right there to help. Their attention to detail and care made us feel so supported throughout the entire process.
If you’re looking for a beautiful, serene, and unforgettable place to host your wedding, Waterfall Lodge is the absolute perfect choice. We’re so grateful to have had the chance to celebrate our love there, and we wouldn’t change a thing.
Waterfall was the perfect venue for our wedding, I loved all the red wood trees and the site itself was just stunning. The staff was great, and I had the ability to hand pick my vendor team which made the day all the more special. Everyone loved staying in the cabins onsite. We stayed one night and got married on a Sunday, if you are interested in this venue and your date is flexible they have great options for single or multi night stays, they also have highly recommended vendors they have worked with before. The team was really great with resources, questions, and communication.
Waterfall Lodge is absolutely magical! our wedding there could not have gone more smoothly. Only visit the venue if you are prepared to be swept off your feet by the trees, the peace and quiet of the forest, the adorable cabins, and the beautiful lodge. We were a little nervous when we first booked that the rustic nature of the venue and some of the requirements might make our event more complicated, but we needn’t have worried. We did take care to book vendors that were familiar with the site, which went a long way to enabling such a great day, but they were also very accommodating of our DIY plans and really worked to make sure that we had the chance to create our vision. The shuttle service was wonderful for our older guests, and everyone else really loved walking around the property and finding little paths through the woods to get around. We didn’t even notice the noise restrictions on the dance floor (and we like some bass!). The cabins were cozy and comfy - just what you want after a whirlwind day. Our guests were completely enchanted and really grateful for the chance to experience the redwood forest. If you have guests coming from out of town who might not have ever visited California, the woods just up the road from a quintessential beach town makes for a really unforgettable weekend. We wish we could have spent more time there, but even booking just one night we didn’t feel rushed at all. The staff were so friendly all day, and made everyone feel welcome. Thanks so much for hosting the best day of our lives!
We toured tons of venues throughout the Bay Area hoping to find something that was surrounded by redwood trees and felt intimate for our guests. Waterfall couldn't have been a better option, and was far-and-away the right choice for us. Their staff that handles guests staying onsite, making the venue look great, and safely getting people in/out of the venue is fantastic. Every inch of the place itself is well-maintained, from the guest cabins to the dance lodge to the ceremony site. And the weather/overall ambience there is perfect for so much of the year. If what you want is a magical feeling getaway in the forest, it's perfect.
It was such a fabulous wedding at the Waterfall Lodge and Retreat, and I can’t say thank you enough to the whole team! They are truly professional and thoughtful people who really take care the entire process. From the very beginning, the team provided a site tour with lots of hints and recommendations about planning different sections of the wedding and help my husband and I to picture how the wedding day may look like. Having a positive attitude and smooth communication is the most enjoyable part of working with the team. For instance, the team understands our budgets and other expectations, and they were patient to walk through our questions about the contract terms to ensure we have a fair agreement and no surprise. They make the whole process transparent and smooth! There is no doubt how pretty the ceremony site is! All our guests had an unforgettable experience and keep asking us how we found this amazing place! The site location is kind of private and the lodge is built on the mountain. For safety reasons, the site would recommend renting a shuttle to pick up guests who can park their cars in a parking lot near the site. Additionally, the site has Bride’s and Groom’s dressing area separately, and it is perfect for couples who want to plan a “first look”. I would recommend an overnight accommodation to get a full experience about the redwood forest, and it is a cozy and stunning experience for you and your guests!
Waterfall Lodge is SO beautiful and the setting blew me away from the moment I toured it for the first time. Getting married in a grove of redwoods is unlike anything else and the dinner location is incredibly magical. The cabins were so lovely and we were so glad we got married here.
Waterfall lodge is an incredible venue. Nothing compared to the towering redwoods and amazing cabins. All of our guests loved it. It is a massive venue but they have an internal shuttle to help with transportation. I loved having a 3 day event where we played volleyball and games night before, had a relaxing wedding morning, and stayed the night after the wedding. Book your wedding here!!
Waterfall lodge was an absolute dream wedding venue. Everything was absolutely perfect. The pictures really don’t even do it justice. We had the best experience you could hope for. From the actual beauty of the venue to the incredible effort and detail the staff pay to your event, you simply cannot go wrong. As soon as I visited I knew we had to get married here, and I am so glad we did.
Waterfall Lodge was the absolute perfect venue for our forest wedding. They were incredibly helpful as we toured the venue and began our planning. We loved the on-site cabins that hosted our guests and bridal party. From the start of our planning right up until the end of our event, Waterfall Lodge were flexible, professional, and beyond what we could have imagined for our magical day. Cannot recommend this venue highly enough!! - Colette
I can't say enough wonderful things about this venue. It was truly a dream come true to get married here. As a restoration ecologist, the only part of my wedding I had ever dreamed about was getting married in the redwood forest. The Waterfall Lodge and Retreat far exceeded even my dreams of what my wedding could be. It is truly in the forest and the beautiful light streaming through the trees is magical. The stunning Lodge building and cabins push things over the top. While the beauty of the space is undeniable, it is also so thoughtfully laid out so as to make for an effortlessly enjoyable experience. I really liked how easy it was to move from the patio outside the Lodge for cocktail hour to the dinner courtyard to the inside of the Lodge for dancing. While one area was being used another could be set up or cleared. The real unsung heroes though were all the amazing staff that worked tirelessly to welcome guests, shuttle folks around, direct traffic, and many more things. The narrow roads and many guests unfamiliar with the space could create chaos, but they were able to make things run so smoothly. I couldn't recommend this venue more highly. It filled all my woodland elf wedding dreams and more.
Waterfall lodge was our dream venue. It is absolutely stunning and so many people have told me it’s the most beautiful venue they’ve ever been to. While it’s a pretty DIY venue as far as vendors and decorations go, it’s nice being able to personalize everything. Guests loved stayed onsite in the cabins. The shuttles for people staying offsite was a little logistically complicated, but totally worth the effort. Cristina was incredibly accommodating and responsive throughout the whole process.
We celebrated our wedding at the Waterfall Lodge this March and it was genuinely perfect. The staff were all so incredibly kind and helpful, the venue was gorgeous (in the rainy season the waterfall is super prominent and is an amazing landmark) and the lodgings were super cozy even on cold nights. We were initially worried about our guests navigating the grounds but Waterfall was very coordinated and there were no issues. We can't thank the wonderful folks at Waterfall Lodge enough for the wonderful day!
Waterfall Lodge is a dream of a venue and I would get married there again and again. The ceremony site feels like pure magic, standing under the redwood trees surrounded by the most important people in your life. There is easily space for your welcome table and for people to mingle as they start shuttling in. There is lodging available on site, so our wedding party did stay on site with us which was very special. It did take some extra coordination on our part to assign rooms and ask everyone ahead of time to commit to staying onsite. It also took some extra coordination to organize the shuttles for offsite guests from the parking lot and another shuttle for guests who didn’t want to drive. But in the end, it felt so worth it.
The space for the reception is perfection, from the farm tables to the hanging string lights, to the barrel tables, and the spectacular lodge to host dance parties. My only minor complaint about this area was that there are only 2 bathrooms, so when you have 115 people drinking, there is constantly a long line. But the bathrooms were inside so people were warm and mingling.
Communication with the Waterfall Lodge was okay but I do think could have been better. We found ourselves trying to piece together exactly what the Lodge would come with (from tables and dimensions to decorations) so it would have been helpful to have a list with photos that is continually updating. We also weren’t notified of one of the cabins being taken off the site so when our guest went to book, they weren’t able to and we had to shift things around. Lastly, we were informed when we booked that this was a beer and wine venue only but our coordinator let us know 3 weeks before the wedding that they changed the rules, so we didn’t have enough time to change the menus and add in a specialty cocktail.
All things considered, it was a magical day and Waterfall lodge is so special. It just does take a little extra work to make sure you are getting the wedding of your dreams.
We cannot recommend WL&R enough. The venue is STUNNING! From our very first visit we were greeted with professionalism and kindness. We toured the venue in the pouring rain and one of the staff members, Bella, graciously continued the tour. She was thorough in her description and outlined everything in detail. Cristina is amazing! She responded to all of our emails promptly and with a lot of detail. She was consistently helpful throughout the entire process. The venue speaks for itself….the redwoods are stunning. We had our wedding in September and we were nervous for heat but it was perfectly perfect! Birds were chirping during our ceremony and the weather was perfect. The trees are captivating and we had many of our guests commenting on the breathtaking beauty of every aspect of the venue. The ceremony site is stunning. Absolutely stunning. The dinner area, under the trees and lights, was perfect. The barn was gorgeous and perfect for dancing. The cocktail hour overlooks a valley of redwoods that cannot be found anywhere else. We did not want to leave! Michael, Cristina, and their team helped us have our fairytale wedding and we cannot thank them enough.
We could not be happier that we chose Waterfall Lodge for our wedding venue! The whole site is absolutely a magical place. Everything is carefully maintained and cared for, but there is also a natural beauty to the place that can’t be replicated. All of our guests were thrilled to spend time there and locals and visitors alike were blown away by the beautiful redwoods. Everyone felt like they were on a mini-vacation in the woods. We were even able to go on a short hike on site the morning of our wedding, which was exactly what we needed.
All the staff are so friendly and accommodating. Unlike a lot of other wedding venues, we were not constrained to a list of approved vendors. Cristina worked with us every step of the way to make sure we had what we needed from the venue, and that all our guests would be comfortable.
It was such a special experience to be able to have most of our guests stay on site in the beautiful cabins. There are a variety of different cabin configurations that allowed us to place all our guests comfortably, regardless of whether they were a single guest or a family of five. Having our guests on site really allowed us to spend more time relaxing and enjoying the company of our friends and family not just for a few hours, but for several days.
Wow! That's how our wedding went in May 2023! We were so lucky to be able to secure the venue of our dreams. When we were first looking, we wanted the forest, fairy tale feel, and we definitely got it with Waterfall Lodge! The venue was spectacularly gorgeous. The waterfall was flowing in full force after the heavy winter rains. The cabins were picturesque, cute, and comfortable. And the staff running the show behind the scenes did an amazing job of making sure that everything on our special day ran according to plan. The day was too short and I hope to one day be able to wander the grounds of the venue as a guest at someone else's wedding because that is the one thing that we missed out on by having a Sunday wedding. Can't recommend this venue enough. Michael, Cristina, and the crew are amazing!
This venue brought my dream wedding to life. It is gorgeous from every angle and the staff is so professional and communicates well. I am so happy I chose it for my big day.
From the moment we stepped out of the car for our tour of Waterfall Lodge, we knew we would be getting married here. The area is absolutely gorgeous, with the beautiful lodge and cabins tucked in between lots of towering redwood trees, and is very quiet and secluded. Their staff, including Jamie, Mark and Michael, helped make sure everything went off without a hitch, including having a planning meeting with us 2 months before the wedding, answering numerous questions that came up during the planning process, and providing a list of recommended vendors (which all turned out to be great!). They were also very flexible and accommodating, as we had to reschedule our wedding from 2021 to 2022 and they worked with us to find a day. We can’t say enough about Waterfall Lodge, you can’t go wrong with choosing this place for your wedding!
Waterfall Lodge is the most BEAUTIFUL place to be immersed in nature and to celebrate such a special ceremony as getting married. You can just tell everyone who is involved with caring for the venue — Michael, Beccan, Mark—absolutely love this land, these trees, and this venue. Michael especially helped us so much in welcoming us to the venue for our site visit, showing us around, recommending vendors, and giving advice on the best ways to utilize the venue to its fullest potential. We felt so cared for throughout the planning process and especially on the weekend of as they were all onsite to help everything run smoothly. Our loved ones/guests could not stop complimenting the venue and were absolutely amazed at how majestic and at the same time intimate it was to be staying there all together throughout the weekend. It was literally our DREAM wedding. Waterfall Lodge will always have such a special and warm place in our hearts!
My husband and I knew that we wanted to get married at Waterfall before we had even seen it in-person. We had toured other venues and Waterfall was our last one. The moment we saw it, we just knew and are so glad we did! The lodge in and of itself would have sold us on the property but the added perk of staying on the property in A-frame cabins and being in the middle of the redwoods was a dream. Between the ceremony and reception, we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful setting. The staff was knowledgeable and we appreciated the site visits we had with Michael with his expertise and advice on how to make our wedding day as smooth as possible. Waterfall allowed us to bring in our own vendors but also provided us with a preferred list. Our only complaint would be the sound ordinances in Santa Cruz, we didn't want the night to end! But the day was perfect and we will just have to fawn over the photos for years to come. We are so happy we were able to secure Waterfall as our venue and you should too!
We got married at Waterfall. The venue is beautiful. We worked with only vendors from the recommended list and they all were awesome. We can't recommend enough how truly beautiful it is to get married in the Redwoods like this.
One extra nice thing we weren't expecting is that the venue is actually in a warm weather "banana belt". Typically in California it's cold in the evenings even when it's comfortable during the day, but it doesn't cool down in the evenings as much here, so it was comfortable eating and hanging out outside.
My husband and I got married at Waterfall Lodge in April 2022. From the moment we toured the venue, we knew it was the perfect place. The natural beauty in the redwoods is elevated with the perfect landscaping by the WL&R team and magical little cabins tucked way in the trees. We chose to get married on a Sunday (they require Friday & Saturday to be booked together as 2-day events) and everything went off perfectly.
Everyone speaks about this magical Michael in their reviews and it's for good reason — he came in about 12 weeks before our wedding, helped us hammer out all the details, and ran the day like an absolute pro. I was able to float through the entire wedding day not worried about any of the details going wrong.
I would also recommend using vendors from Waterfall Lodge's preferred vendor list — every single vendor we chose off that list was excellent, professional, and knew the venue in and out. It made planning SO much easier.
Waterfall Lodge is one of the most gorgeous venues I have ever seen. The entire property is pristinely maintained and they are constantly doing updates to keep the property, spaces, and cabins to continually make it even more beautiful. Working with Jaime, Mark, and Michael was a great experience and they are so professional, organized, and accommodating and helpful that it made the experience THAT much better… because not only is the venue beautiful – but so is all of the staff. We absolutely loved having the cabins available onsite and our guests were so pleased with not needing to drive anywhere and being at the property the whole time. We had many guests tell us how much they loved being able to meet people before the actual wedding by staying onsite in the cabins – it made for such a good experience for everyone. The cabins themselves are also very cute; and are very clean and have towels, toiletries, etc. And let me tell you what a gorgeous backdrop a forest of redwoods makes for your wedding ceremony. There was also so many great places for photos – and Waterfall just makes pictures look that much better. I don’t even think it needs to be said that Waterfall is a venue I highly recommend – as it just speaks for itself.
I mean what can I say, Waterfall Lodge is the most beautiful venue with THE most helpful, warm, kind staff on the planet. The cabins are so cozy and everything was above and beyond what we expected. It was so perfect for us, I can’t recommend it enough!
We held our wedding in October at Waterfall Lodge. It was so beautiful, words can't describe the magical feeling in the redwood forest. It's a very secluded venue, so you can have a very private wedding. The redwoods are STUNNING. Photos really don't do justice in how it feels. The staff is wonderful. From planning to the moment you arrive and you leave, they are all so kind and helpful. Because I'm from Canada, I planned the whole wedding abroad. I didn't get to visit the venue before having my wedding and the place did not disappoint! I wish I had stayed longer. I would recommend if you can rent out the venue for the entire weekend. One day/night was not enough!
Jaime, the events director was very flexible at this venue and made it easy for us to organize everything.
Michael, who built the whole place is so helpful. He's also very knowledgeable about the whole place so if you have any questions about the logistics of setting up everything, he's your man!
Waterfall Lodge was truly the most incredible backdrop to our big day that we could have possibly imagined! Their staff is very helpful leading up to the event and Michael (the property manager) is an ABSOLUTE LEGEND!!!!!! We had crazy rain on our wedding day... so much so that when we woke up in the morning, the power was out in the entire city of Ben Lomond! Michael worked relentlessly to ensure all the generators were working. He absolutely did everything he could to ensure everything was working properly throughout the rest of the day and we attribute a lot of the day's magic to Michael's hard work :) Mark (the owner) is SO SWEET and you can tell he has so much passion and pride for the property. He has worked hard to make it the sacred space that it is and it shows. Jaime was so helpful leading up to the event, answering every question I had in a timely manner, which was so helpful for this crazed #CoronaBride! The cabins are cute and quaint! Everything was very clean and I am so glad we chose Waterfall to host our closest friends and family for our big day :) thank you, Waterfall!!!
P.S. for any future brides that may have the misfortune of rain on your wedding day at Waterfall... we ended up hosting the ceremony in the lodge. I was reluctant to make this decision as I had always envisioned it in the redwood grove, but it ended up being SO magical and cozy. It was a tight fit, so not everyone could be seated, which allowed for everyone to squeeze into a big circle around the room. It felt like our closest friends and family were surrounding and embracing us for our big moment!! It was truly incredible <3
Waterfall Lodge is an incredible special venue nestled in a gorgeous redwood forest with a beautiful reception lodge, cocktail hour and dinner spaces, and a beautiful outdoor redwood grove for the ceremony. This was the first venue I toured in person and as soon as I got there I knew that was it!
The team at Waterfall Lodge - Jaime, Mark and Michael really helped make our wedding day completely magical! Jaime was amazing for the year leading up to our wedding answering my (many, many) questions and helping my guests get set up in cabins, etc. We truly had the best day ever and already miss Waterfall Lodge!!
The owner, Mark, went above and beyond helping make our wedding day completely perfect, even during an insane rain storm, evacuations, power outages and more!
He is such a kind person and his incredible help seriously astounded us! The venue is truly a gem and helped make our wedding vision become a reality, a magical wedding amongst the redwoods with our dearest friends and family! We already miss Waterfall Lodge and hope to come back some day.
Huge thanks to Michael as well for all of his help and craftsmanship making such a great venue possible.
This is a 'BYO' vendor venue so know that you will need to put quite a lot of work into making sure all the many professionals and pieces are in place for your wedding, but with a good wedding planner (Dawn Sternadel - Event by Dawn) and using pretty much only vendors from their preferred vendor list it was a wonderful experience and we crafted the most beautiful 2 days true to me and my husband's style and vision. I will remember those 2 days very fondly for the rest of my life!
How can I accurately capture my gratitude for this amazing venue?! Waterfall Lodge & Retreat from beginning to end has been a dream to not only work with but to host our wedding. The location is serene, transporting you to your own personal Redwood forest to dance among the stars with your friends and family. Mark, the owner, gave us a tour and shared the lodge's history. You can tell just how passionate he is about this property and hearing his future plans for Waterfall is very exciting...and yes, there is a Waterfall on property! Our wedding guests and my now husband stayed overnight in the cabins which have all been renovated in the last year, and it was the best decision we could have made! Their operations and logistics manager, Michael, is the MVP though. He has been there since the beginning and knows ALL the ins and outs. He helped us problem-solve during our venue tour and gave us the peace of mind that things were under control during our big day. You will not be disappointed if you choose Waterfall for your special day. It's peaceful, intimate, and romantic. Thank you for making my wedding beyond perfect!
Waterfall Lodge is such a beautiful venue - tall tall redwoods, so special and intimate. We were from out of state, but chose this venue during lockdown. They were very helpful, lots of attention to detail, and somehow we made it work via coordinating from across the US. There were some fires earlier in the year, and the fellow that takes care of the property and built the cabins, personally fought off the fires - you can tell he really cares about the space. We flew to have a site visit after booking the spot, and it was even more beautiful in person. Due to sound ordinances, the wedding had to end at 10, but we rented shuttles to take our guests to a local dive bar. The fellow you built the cabins even called the bar ahead of time and though we had emailed the bar ahead of time, still made extra sure they knew we were coming, and asked about any mask ordinance they may have. So helpful! They are on top of it. My husband lost his license and debit card during the wedding, and the cleaning crew was thankfully able to find them too, and leave it for us the next day. All our guests were so wowed by the beautiful spot. We are so happy we chose this spot, and really couldn't recommend this spot more. A few of our friend's parents who are locals but had not known of the spot stopped by to drop them off before the wedding, and were really impressed by the venue, and said they would recommend their friend's kids to have their weddings here too. Since Waterfall Lodge is so beautiful, you really don't have to worry about going overboard on wedding decorations or florals either.
I don't think I could say enough amazing things about The Waterfall Lodge. My husband recently had our "we still do" ceremony here after postponing our large reception due to COVID, and I think our guests will be talking about this picture perfect venue for years to come. The scenery is amazing, the lodge/barn set amongst the redwoods is amazing, and don't even get me started about the redwood grove for your ceremony site.
Beyond the incredible location and picture perfect venue, the staff was so amazing to work with and helpful every step of the way. If I could give Michael (property manager) his own review I would because there's no way this day could have gone off without him. Big kudos to Jaime as well, for being so responsive and answering any questions that came up.
I wish I could get married every year at the Waterfall Lodge. Don't walk, RUN to book this venue!
PS, highly recommend staying onsite in the ADORABLE A-frame cabins that surround the property. What an experience.
THANK YOU!
We first visited Waterfall Lodge in September of 2018. We had been on the property for only a few minutes before we looked at each other and knew we wanted it as our wedding venue. Over the next week we scrambled through some competition to try and secure one of the few remaining dates for 2019, and ended up getting a weekend in early October. If Waterfall has one challenge it is how popular it is, so we were very grateful to book a weekend in this magical place.
Mark, the owner, and Michael, the property manager, are wonderful, hard-working people who love this place. Both of them were amazingly helpful to us throughout the year leading up to our event. Their positivity and professionalism really shone through the week of our wedding, when PG&E shut the power off in the Santa Cruz mountains. We got a call on Thursday from Michael, explaining the situation and how he didn’t expect the power to come back on for several days, meaning our wedding would be in the dark. The day before, when it became clear that the power would likely be off, Mark and Michael jumped to action buying and testing generators. Thanks to their quick action we were able to use a generator to power the main lodge and the cabin with the bridal suite. When we arrived on Friday morning Mark had also purchased lanterns and flashlights for every cabin. We spent Friday morning testing things and adjusting our plans to ensure that we could manage not having power when our guests arrived. In a stroke of good luck, the power came back on on Friday night, but even if it hadn’t we would have been prepared thanks to the commitment and positivity of Mark and Micheal. Micheal especially was on site with us the whole way and really was a lifesaver in what could have been a situation that ruined our wedding.
Beyond the amazing team, there is the property itself. Waterfall Lodge is simply spectacular. The redwood grove where we had our ceremony and took photos afterwards is astounding. The individual cabins are wonderfully renovated and comfortable. The lodge and surrounding patios are the perfect event space and are so beautiful in themselves that they don’t need any other decoration or changes. The care and attention to detail that is put into maintaining the property really sets it apart from other venues in similar settings. This unique location is the only venue we saw with overnight accommodations where you did not have to sacrifice quality or comfort to be in an astounding outdoor setting. Waterfall Lodge is magical and it was the perfect place for our wedding.
Waterfall Lodge was the PERFECT place to set our wedding! And the Waterfall Lodge team was incredibly helpful through the entire process. Ef, Mark, and Michael were the best people we could have had helping us! Ef was always quick to respond to any email questions I had, Mark was a great first point of contact and was even there to help with anything we needed day of. And MICHAEL! Is a dream. He met with us multiple times on the grounds and filled in for our coordinator at our rehearsal- he had tips on how to set up the ceremony area and helped with reception layout as well. Our wedding was larger than weddings had been in the past and he was incredibly flexible and worked with us to make our day perfect. He set up the chairs for the ceremony day of and worked quickly to get us in before our allotted time which got our day off to a great start! Any problem that arose throughout the day, Michael took care of- he is so professional but also so so friendly- our friends, family, my husband and I LOVED him and we are still getting compliments on our wedding weeks later.
I truly cannot recommend this team enough I could not have imagined a more beautiful place for our venue or a friendlier team for an easy process.
