Autumn was our wedding photographer and hiring her was one of the best decisions we made while planning our wedding. She helped move the day along seamlessly but also just let us ...
be natural instead of feeling like everything was posed or done just for a picture. She captured the natural beauty and light of our venue and took action shots of us just being ourselves that I will forever cherish. The photos are relaxed and comfortable and unique to us instead of stiff and contrived. She captured our day perfectly. She was great with kiddos and with our pup. She communicated well and had our photos turned around and back to us SO quickly. Even though her business is 2 hours away from us, we would book with Autumn again in a heartbeat and I highly recommend her.
Autumn was a ROCKSTAR. Our other photographer had to cancel with just 3 months ahead of the wedding, but Autumn made everything easy and simple. She was very efficient at formals a...
nd I saw her capturing casual moments I can't wait to see. She also took our engagement pictures which are over-the-top gorgeous. I'd highly recommend her.
Autumn was amazing! She made sure to capture everything we wanted and more. She went above and beyond to make sure our day was special. The photos turned out amazing and I can't wa...
it to see the albums!
Autumn did both our engagement and wedding photos and exceeded all of our expectations on both.
I am a type-A individual and admittedly a bit of a control freak (*new husband is no...
dding his head in agreement right now*), but with Autumn, I was able to completely let go.
So freaking easy with her.
Hire her.
Side note: we’ve received a myriad of compliments on our photos. Spoiler Alert: it was ALL Autumn
Autumn was everything I didn’t know I needed in a wedding photographer. I stumbled on her page on Instagram and the editing, light, and life in her work struck a chord. We booked h...
er and had a chance to meet with her prior to our wedding day. She is chill, professional, and an actual artist. Our wedding day was a bit non-traditional. We wanted to do a sunrise shoot, and our ceremony was at 11 a.m. Somehow, some way, Autumn was everywhere she needed to be exactly when she needed to be. Since I didn’t have a bridal party, just one attendant, we were able to do a few different locations before and even a few shots after before the party started. I’ve looked through my photos about 10x, and each time I see something new. Her use of light is incredible. I don’t think she chases it – it chases her. But what is really striking was her ability to capture the life and essence of our family and friends in a photo. These are the photos that aren’t “just photos.” These are images that evoke memories and illicit emotions. Just in case you don’t know what you want in a wedding photographer, now you do.
We don't have our wedding photos back yet, but I don't even care, you guys need to know how awesome Autumn is. It was FREEZING on our wedding day (in April, yay Kansas) and not onl...
y did Autumn handle it like a champ, she helped us and our entire wedding party handle it like champs! What I loved most (besides her awesome photography talent and style) is that Autumn fit in our wedding so perfectly; she was another family member there helping us celebrate. We'd willingly go outside in 30 degree weather with 35 mph wind gusts ANYTIME for her!
Autumn is absolutely amazing. She captured every moment we wanted perfectly. She is a true professional, but also knows how to have fun. She got every shot we wanted and then some....
Plus she was super flexible with our schedule.
Autumn (we chase the light) is an absolute gem. It's so amazing we have her talents here in the little town of Manhattan, KS! Autumn shot our engagement photos as well as our wed...
ding photos, and she took us two camera-shy folks and made us look AMAZING. She has such fantastic rapport with her subjects, and we are so comfortable with her behind the camera. She was so incredibly patient at our wedding when getting my husband's family together was like an Olympic game of herding cats! Autumn's talents behind the camera and easy-going professionalism make her a real treasure! We hope to hire her again for family shoots in the future!
We run an Event Venue (Dillon House Events, LLC) and have the opportunity to see many different photographers, for multiple events.

ption for about 250 people, and Autumn Shoemaker (dba "we chase the light") was the couples choice.
Her commitment to getting the right/best shot in a very hectic environment was more than impressive. She demonstrated stealth so as not to disturb the guests, cunning to capture some very precious moments, and intense creativity in using the venue as a backdrop for some of the most impressive photos we have seen so far.
She has an ability to see beyond what is just there, but can visualize what it might be is shot "just this way".
Her works in both brilliant color, and nostalgic black and white hearken back to days gone by. Very appropriate in a 104 year old venue.
She is a consummate professional, that appeared to be very much in sync with the bridal couple and their families.
We would be thrilled to have her do MANY more weddings and receptions at the Dillon House, or wherever you choose to hold your special day.
While we are already a Historic Venue, Autumn Shoemaker and "We Chase The Light" will soon become both Historic, and Epic. WOW!
I can't say enough good things about Autumn. Leading up to the wedding, she was very responsive to any phone calls or emails to discuss plans. On the day of the wedding, I couldn't...
have asked for a better photographer. Autumn is very communicative and helpful. She was so fun and laid-back; she put my husband (who hates posing for pictures) at ease, and so many of my friends and family said they loved working with her.
Finally, the photos she took turned out absolutely beautiful. So many of the pictures are so lovely, we're having a hard time deciding which ones to print for framing! It's a great problem to have. If we ever have need, I would hire Autumn again in a heartbeat!
