Michael was absolutely amazing! He kept everything on track, played the music we asked and even through in some other songs that fit the vibe people were dancing to! Not to mention he was just a fun guy! His prices are also super affordable especially for the Charleston area!
Michael was amazing to work with! Knew how to get the party started but very professional! Payment process was easy as well as communication throughout! He was able to reel in some guest who went out of hand and kept the party going! We are grateful for him!
Michael was a fantastic DJ. He took the time to meet with us before the wedding to go through every last detail to make sure everything went the way we wanted it to. Where we were unsure of things he was able to step in and give incredible professional advice as he has been doing weddings for quite some time. Michael and his team were also very fast to respond to emails and very accommodating to our needs for the wedding. Now, when the dance floor opened Michael knew hot to get the party started and played all the important songs to us. He listened to our request to have no requests which was very important to us:). I would highly recommend Michael for any wedding.

Michael from Wedding Music Charleston was the best. He was everything we could have for as a DJ and more. Not only was the music perfect, he was professional, considerate, organized, flexible and so pleasant to work with. He made working with a DJ no stress at all - he was so organized, and the music selection process was super seamless thanks to Michael's spreadsheet, which made it easy for me as a bride, when wedding planning can be so overwhelming. I went back and forth on giving a 3 or 4 star review but I had to go with a 3 unfortunately. Michael was very nice through the whole process of wedding planning and was very detailed in getting all of the announcements, songs, toasts, etc outlined. My wedding was outside and as my flower girls walked down the aisle the music stopped and wouldn't start back up. I waited and waited for the music to start again looking back and forth between my planner and the DJ for what I should do and finally I just had to walk down the aisle with no music at all. Apparently his equipment overheated, which I understand he cant control but an outside wedding in Charleston is not uncommon and he insisted that this had never happened before. This was the absolute one moment of the whole day that I did NOT want the music to stop. Aside from the fact that I just felt awkward walking in silence, I loved the song I was supposed to walk to and I have said since high school "that is the song I will walk down the aisle to". Other than that I thought the rest of the night DJing the reception was fine, had to tell him to skip a few songs but nothing crazy. Again, I know he couldn't control that but I feel like he should've had some sort of backup considering they have DJ'd weddings in this exact location multiple times before. Unfortunately the one aspect that went wrong was a very big deal.

I do understand your disappointment about the processional. I have done many weddings outside in my 25 years of experience, and I have never experienced this. Your processional was all one song with you entering near the end of the song...
. The wedding began late and my set up was in the direct sun, so sadly the Ipad overheated just as you were set to enter. I was devastated as well. I do always bring a backup Ipad, but since the song was near the end and the Ipad overheated just as you were set to enter it would have been difficult and time consuming to change over and try and find where we were in the song. Thankfully I was able to play the recessional music as requested and the wireless mic worked flawlessly. It was certainly not what I would have hoped for, and in retrospect there are things I will do for the future to prevent something like this happening again. Direct sunlight on hot days is mentioned in the contract, but I was trying to keep my footprint small due to the restricted space on the pier so I set up with no cover. In retrospect I should have known better, but I have never had this happen so I assumed it would be ok. I truly apologize for that. I am thankful that the entire wedding party made their way before the Ipad shut down. :(
During the dancing portion of your reception, the songs you asked me to skip were on your playlist so I assumed you wanted me to play them. When you motioned for me to skip them I did that smoothly and immediately as you asked. I am always watching my clients to be sure they are happy with what is playing.
Again, I am very sad that this happened and I will make changes to my process for the future to be sure that it does not happen again.
Technology is awesome, but it can-on rare occasions- be glitchy.
Experienced DJs learn from mistakes and make changes to prevent future issues.

Michael was so communicative and helpful in planning our music and announcements for our wedding. Jesse was excellent in keeping the reception moving and having fun on the dance floor.
We weren't going to hire any dj but they had a package where we could pick all the songs (which he had detailed organizing strategies for us) and we got the announcer to help with the flow of everything. Jesse helped with telling guests there kids meals to helping us cut off chatty toasts. 10/10 recommended!

Michael was excellent with our wedding. He was so easy to work with and was a huge part in making our day so special!
Michael and his team were AWESOME! From our first phone call with Michael, we could tell he goes the extra mile to learn about us and our vision for the day. He asked so many helpful questions, provided lots of wisdom, and is overall such a nice human, making the experience really great. The music for the night was a hit. Our dance floor was full all night long, and Michael added such a special, FUN presence. We couldn’t be happier we found him and his team!
100% recommend Michael. He extremely professional and helpful with planning and suggestions for our wedding day. We really felt lost until we met with him and reviewed his timeline suggestions, playlist recommendations etc
He was also asked for a list of specific people allowed to speak that day and would literally turn the microphone off it someone not on the list tried to sneak in a speech lol we really appreciated that!!

The best DJ EVER & wow what a phenomenal communication through out!!!! He was driving at times and couldn’t text so answered the phone to speak to me. Super on board with everything & we just had a VERY good experience with the DJ! He made our night so special & fun! Many guests came up to me through out the night saying how the DJ made the wedding! He was SO SO good!!! One million percent recommend you hire him for your special event! We are so beyond satisfied with Michael! He played the ceremony music perfectly. His cocktail hour and dinner music was a perfect mix of genres/songs. Michael was easy to work with and has many years of experience in the wedding business. He was very knowledgable about our venue and gave me tons of tips about weddings he has done in the past and advice for my own wedding! He also was great at keeping the party going! I would highly recommend Michael for all your DJ needs!
We had such an incredible experience with our DJs! Earl kept the party going all night long! Our guests had such an amazing night. Everything was so perfect! Earl made sure everything ran smoothly the entire night and kept checking in with me and my husband to make sure everything was going the way we wanted! Cannot say enough about how amazing Michael and Charleston Wedding DJ were! We actually were saying how out of all the vendors he was by far our favorite and so easy to work with! He learned about us and picked fantastic songs, was so patient and professional! If I’m ever in need of a DJ he is by far who I would choose again. So affordable and goes above and beyond, and did more for us then required. We appreciate Michael so much!
We had really high hopes, but too many things did not go well on our wedding day that truly disappointed us. Michael seemed thorough based on the repeated conversations we had about music taste/preferences, flow of the event. One of my bridesmaids walked down without any music because he did not loop the song. During the reception we asked him to find some more upbeat songs and change some songs faster (rather than letting every song play in full) to keep the guests dancing. He did not do that. He also asked for a list of 15 songs we would like played... he played only 2. We requested that while our guests line up for our exit he play a certain song for a private last dance, he played that song before he announced for guests to go line up. We did not get our private last dance to take in the moment or the pictures that would have gone along with it. He had a questionnaire where all of our expectations were outlined in addition to the conversations we had, so we were very disappointed in the lack of follow through. He also brought an assistant to help carry items (totally fine) but the assistant was sitting on the lounge set near the dance floor during the reception so our guests didn't go use it, family also mentioned that the assistant went back for a second round of food before some of our guests had gotten any. All in all we would not recommend Wedding Music Charleston for your events.

As you mentioned, we work very hard to learn about our client's vision for the perfect event, from the time of our first contact and throughout the planning process.
After every wedding we also send out a follow up asking clients to review us so that we can always learn from them and improve on our services.
In my 25 years of weddings, your review is the first time that I have ever received a negative review for my personal services at a wedding. (across all sites online)
You can rest assured that I take your review to heart.
I have gone back and researched every part of our communication and all of the videos we took at your wedding as well. (see the link to those videos and photos at the bottom)
I plan to review our procedures from top to bottom to assure that we are better than we have ever been.
Regardless or their experience and talent, no entertainer will be a good fit for all clients.
We do our best to determine if we have the right DJ for the client's needs and are happy to recommend other companies when we feel like we will not be a great fit.
I do recall your asking to move through songs more rapidly, not allowing them to play for long.
I don't think I fully understood how short you wanted the songs to be.
Normally at weddings the guests like to hear much of the song before making a transition.
Rapid transitions and remixes are a Club/Hip-Hop/EDM DJ strategy.
I can admit that it is something I am not personally accustomed to.
In the hundreds of weddings I have done myself I have never been asked to do this to the extent that you seem to have wanted.
I work hard to make sure my transtions are smooth and the dance floor remains active, but quick transitions are not my personal style.
I will be more careful to discuss this in greater detail with future clients to be sure we are accomodating.
In looking back over all of the videos, and the song requests you gave me I can assure you without any doubt that I played the majority of your requests.
If I had to guess, I would say with a fair amount of certainty that I got to all of them.
As you can see in the dancing videos, you and your guests seemed to be having a great time with the music selections.
However, I learned long ago to be sure that I play a clients requested songs, regardless of their effect on the dance floor.
I always, always make it a point to get requested songs in rotation. I also recall playing many songs that were requested by guests at the event.
It is easy for newlyweds to miss some of those songs while they are mingling with family and friends.
I recall you and McKenzie moving back and forth between inside and outside the venue often (understandably) and you may have missed some of your requests in that way.
I always try to touch base with clients throughout the evening to make sure that they are happy.
I don't recall you mentioning being unhappy at all on the day of your event.
In fact, your negative reviews on Google, The Knot, and Wedding Wire this Saturday are the first indication that I had that you were not happy with me or Jesse. I would have loved to do everything possible on your big day to make you happy, believe me. A vendor does not get the kind of reviews that we have by being apathetic or complacent. We work very hard to get it right every time.
Regarding the wedding party processional, I have a video of that and can see that the song ended just as the last young lady was escorting the little ring bearer into the aisle.
I think we were all focused on how sweet the child was, but I do apologise for that momentary lapse, even though it was brief.
The walk from the screen room to the aisle was quite long, but the aisle was short.

I do recall something happening regarding your last dance.
I know the coordinator was struggling to move the guests to the exit location to allow you the private dance.
It took quite some time to get guests to move from the dance floor to line up for the exit.
They were very enthusiastic and did not want to leave the dance floor.
It may be that in the confusion of the moment I missed something there, or the time had elapsed allowing for a private dance.
If so, please accept my deepest apologies. I would never skip something like that intentionally.
My assistant on your event works hard to help me, and always goes above and beyond to help our clients as well.
I have shared your review with him and his heart is broken as mine.
He will be much more careful about where he sits and when he visits the buffet in the future, though it is hard for me to imagine him causing hardship intentionally.
He and his parents spent several years on the South Dakota reservation ministering to the Lakota tribe in the harshest of conditions.
Jesse is a beautiful soul that cares deeply for people of all nationalities.
Once again, thank you for the insight and my heartfelt apologies that you or your family were not elated with my services.
I will strive to be that much better in the future.

They did such an amazing job not only keeping everyone dancing but capturing the most important moments during the day! Everyone complimented our DJs and had a blast. I really appreciate Michael for always announcing what’s to come next like for example cake cutting. They both were so professional and friendly. I recommend anyone to work with Wedding Music Charleston for their next event!
Sincerely the best DJ we have ever experienced at a wedding. We were put in a sticky situation when our original DJ (not at all affiliated with Wedding Music Charleston) canceled on us a week before our big day. We reached out and Michael was so quick to respond- incredibly professional! To add to matters, our wedding was the weekend of Hurricane Ian! We were paired with Gregg who absolutely blew our minds!!! Not only was he incredibly kind and thoughtful throughout the entire evening, he was also energetic and fun (which really matched our group of guests and bridal party)!
My family, bridal party, and friends have all been raving about Gregg since our wedding day. It was an honor to work with him and Wedding Music Charleston. You can't go wrong with these amazing professionals. If I ever need a DJ for anything again, I would immediately choose them!! Michael was wonderful! Not only did he keep our party upbeat , he took requests in stride, was super flexible, and was an amazing value for our Charleston wedding. He definitely did a great job getting the vibe right for our group - 90s, dance hits, Latin, and salsa - he listened to our needs for our various guests and everyone had a blast! I felt so at ease knowing him and his staff were extremely organized and took my input and ran with it, it really relieved the pressure on more decision making during our night :)
I am so impressed by the Wedding Music Charleston! They ask you to fill out a spreadsheet with all your "must have" music selections and then come up with a great playlist. They did a great job announcing important moments and getting guests up and dancing without sounding corny. Definitely recommend!
I would highly recommend Michael and his team! Michael and I had multiple conversations leading up to the event so by the wedding day we were prepared. Because he knew the venue (Historic Rice Mill) well; his knowledge and organization skills enabled me and the day of coordinator to know exactly what was happening and when. I hired Wedding Music Charleston for my wedding in February and they were amazing! Before the wedding, Michael was a great communicator and very easy to work with. Michael was a pleasure to work with and made our wedding night a party we will never forget!! Greg was our DJ for our wedding in November and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect guy for our night! Leading up to our wedding he met with us and was so professional and personable. He made me feel completely at ease with the way the night was going to go. ( Which is nice when you’re the bride and you’re worried about everything.) And he delivered!! He was so much fun and all of our guests had a blast and loved all of the music!! Wedding Music Charleston and Greg are all truly professionals. Each event throughout the night flowed so seamlessly well! I wish our reception would’ve lasted longer looking back. Honestly I can’t say enough good things about about these guys!! I absolutely loved my experience working with Micheal from Wedding Music Charleston. From day one he was giving me helpful tips that I didn’t even know I needed without being pushy. His team works quickly to respond to emails. I thought picking music would be easy but it was a little bit of struggle for us and we didn’t know where to start. The excel sheet they provided broke everything up into sections making it easier to focus on a couple things at a time. When it came to the wedding day Micheal made sure everything went through as planned. We got many compliments on the musics choices for different age groups and his great voice! I would 100% recommend Wedding Music Charleston for your wedding.

Michael was amazing! From the first initial conversation to the wedding day, he was so responsive and helpful with not only DJ/music, but with helpful tips and advice etc. He also took photos and videos of us/venue throughout the day and it made for some fun clips we never got to see! He was really amazing and I would 100% recommend him again to anyone having an event!!

I absolutely ADORE this company and Michael especially!
He (and his assistant) were extremely helpful on quick responses, extensive guides and forms to walk me through the process of their services and booking, very punctual and reliable on setting up calls as well as day of attendance.
His tips were very helpful as well for what he needs with the venue or space and how to make my day smoother and better than ever WHICH HE DID.
I (the Bride) sat down once to eat and that is all! We all had such an amazing time we didn’t want to leave! He helped make the day amazing especially ever since having to postpone from October 10th 2020 and my services beforehand vanishing into thin air.
My contract consisted of mic and speaker for ceremony plus set up and coordination through the ceremony - went super smooth and he did great! He was so helpful when choosing certain songs and cues as to when he would transition. As well as cocktail hour guitar played by Michael, absolutely set an amazing mood for my guests. And lastly but absolutely not least the DJing throughout the night as planned through some chosen songs and requests from guests throughout the later portion of the night - Michael handled the madness, the time slots, and the song choices PERFECTLY. I also had a monogram projected on the dance floor that he ended up projecting on the wall later that was an awesome choice and I loved it. I can’t say enough great things! Very happy with how my day/night went and he really set me up for success when I get the crazy dance photos!

We were married on September 25th, 2021. Our original wedding date was scheduled for September 12th, 2020. However, due to the Covid-19 situation we had to push the wedding out to the later date. We had already booked Michael for the original wedding date back in February of 2020. Michael graciously worked with us on rescheduling when we made the decision to move the wedding date out. . From the very first time we talked to him and explained to him what our expectations were for our special day, we felt that Wedding Music Charleston was a perfect fit for us. His professionalism, organization, and the several different music DJ/MC package options that he offered us were right on point. He listened to us and was able to give us every detail possible that we requested. The communication was very open and clear between Michael and us leading up to and the day of the event. There were no surprises (with regard to his services) on our wedding day. He definitely delivered on everything as promised.

For our first dance, we wanted our dear friend to perform the song and he coordinated with her directly and made it happen. It was so special having her perform and we could not have made it happen without Michael!
Further, he did a wonderful job reading the crowd and playing songs that got everyone, young and old, out on the dance floor! It was the perfect mix of oldies, our weird Indie favs, fast and slow songs.
Also, Michael snapped some extra special photos and videos from our wedding day. It was such a pleasant surprise when he sent them to us!

Due to COVID we lost most of our vendors, it was one thing after the other, our original venue went under and we lost our deejay and photographer. Planning a wedding during the pandemic quickly turned into a lot of aggravation. Luckily we found Michael! He responded promptly and after a thorough conversation about what we were looking for I quickly called him back the next day and booked him. Our first reschedule was still affected by COVID (guests didn't feel comfortable traveling) Michael worked with us. He was understanding and flexible. Our second reschedule finally did happen and due to Michael's flexibility and being an experienced DJ it was a great success! He even figured out a quick mike fix at the last minute for our officiant. Michael is true professional and easy to work with. I would recommend Wedding Music Charleston 200%! We connected before the wedding to review everything and our vision and he executed it perfectly. The music flowed from our cocktail hour, to our ceremony to our reception. Our guests had a great time throughout the whole celebration- people were on the dance floor the whole night. Music is so important a bad deejay can definitely put a damper on your wedding. Go with Wedding Music Charleston, you will not be disappointed. Highly recommend! Thank you Michael for making our special day so memorable :)

MIchael and his team at Wedding Music Charleston are fabulous! We are, unfortunately, one of many couples who suffered from the scheduling impact that COVID had on our wedding... requiring us to change our date not once - but twice! Each time was emotional, frustrating, and stressful. Michael was understanding, flexible, and did his best to assure us that everything would be ok in the end, and it was! He was timely in his communication, responsive to email, call, and text, as well as flexible. His set up at the wedding was perfect, zero hick ups, and he helped with the moving parts of other key players that he was able to support. Michael did such a great job! He very much knew what he was doing, which seems like it should be a given, but let me explain... Due to COVID, I met Michael on the day of the wedding, but he was thorough and ensured he had the info needed ahead of time. He was extremely attentive, even through the guests from across the room. I remember specifically at one point, I looked in his direction during a song and gave the slightest nod that no one else noticed. He quickly found a good spot to transition out of the song that was playing and into the next. We hadn't met before and never discussed specific cues I'd give, yet a VERY subtle, intentional gesture and he was on the same page as me. Aside from an amazing time we and the guests had, that is a detail I will always remember. He also stayed on track with our requests and everything went as smooth as anyone could possibly imagine. Michael was very comfortable with our venue which was a bonus to having him DJ our day. I'd recommend WMC any day!
Michael of Wedding Music Charleston provided all of the music and entertainment for our wedding and it was absolutely fantastic! He knew exactly what songs to play, at the appropriate time and how to keep the positive vibes flowing throughout the day. Michael and his team are AMAZING! He really takes his time to get to know you and your spouse and what you like and don’t like. He is super detailed with the playlist and makes sure it’s everything your wanting. He also gave me good advice whenever I wasn’t sure about some things. He even filmed parts of my wedding that we were able to make into a video since we didn’t hire a videographer. He kept the party going all night. Micheal was awesome! Best DJ around. He let us be so involved with creating our own playlist but also throwing in some songs from his playlist. He had everyone on the dance floor.! I would definitely recommend!
Michael was an excellent DJ choice for our wedding for a few very important reasons:
1. He already had an extensive list of wedding playlists and popular music on Spotify and we used that platform to gather our own list and provide to him. This made picking out music for our ceremony and reception very convenient and low on stress (big deal when planning a wedding!).
2. He actually captured things on video from the wedding day as well giving us an additional option when we opted to not hire a videographer. He captured the bride's dad's speech which was something truly special and now we'll be able to cherish it forever.
3. He was flexible on his charges because of a drastic reduction in wedding size due to COVID-19 concerns. Knowing this is main form of revenue for Michael in a time where his business was certainly suffering along with the rest of the wedding industry, he was still accommodating and that was delightful.
4. He was punctual, prepared and had a positive attitude and smiling face throughout!

Michael was super easy to work with! He even worked with me on surprising my now-husband during the ceremony by playing a song I wrote for him as part of my vows. He played every song we requested timely and perfectly during the ceremony. He kept the energy flow for our wedding reception as well. I highly recommend him for your wedding event.

Michael was fantastic. He was very responsive and answered all my questions leading up to the wedding, and day of we had no complaints! Very satisfied.
Working with Michael was truly the best experience. From our first initial contact, to when we walked into the reception we had nothing but open communication and he made all of the planning so much easier. The day of the reception we decided we wanted to add lights and he was more than accommodating we even wanted to go an hour past our time and he was all for it! Michael was so great from the very beginning! We appreciated how thorough, attentive, and collaborative he was. He was great at reading the crowd and kept the dance floor packed the entire night. My husband's parents surprised us with a flash mob which required Michael to coordinate the music with the dance group. He did a fantastic job and it turned out perfectly!
