Finding an officiant who 'gets' you can be rare but Brenda exceeded every expectation we had when looking for our wedding officiant! From our very first meeting to the last, she took the time to truly get to know us—not just as a couple but also as individuals! My husband left our first meeting saying "Brenda is exactly the type of person I pictured when I think about who I want marrying us!" She asked the right questions, listened to our story, and took so much care in planning our wedding ceremony!
By the time our wedding day arrived, it felt like having a close friend marry us! She brought such a fun, vibrant energy to the ceremony that kept our guests engaged and kept us smiling! Most importantly, she was incredibly intentional about making sure the ceremony reflected us and what we wanted! Brenda is a full-time professor at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, teaching public speaking courses. She became an ordained minister in 2013, initially wanting to help LGBTQ+ couples find the perfect officiant. Over time, Brenda realized that she could bring something special to every single wedding ceremony and has met many wonderful people throughout her journey.

I became an ordained minister in 2013 with an initial desire to help couples who were having a difficult time finding a minister when civil unions were first being performed, and later with the passage of marriage equality. What I found was that it wasn’t just same-sex couples that needed a minister; every engaged couple could potentially use my help. And so that began my journey. I’ve met so many wonderful couples along the way. My belief is if you bring me in as your officiant, you’ve gained a friend for life.

Brenda gave us a super fun couples Q&A to help her personalize everything, and she even added some playful extra vows that had everyone laughing and smiling. The ceremony ended up being lighthearted, genuine, and full of joy—exactly what we wanted.
So many of our guests came up to us afterward to say it was the best (and least boring!) ceremony they’ve ever been to. Brenda truly made the experience feel like us, and we’ll always be grateful for that. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for an officiant who brings warmth, humor, and heart to their big day!✨💍

We spent time sharing our story and had the opportunity hearing hers too. She ensured the ceremony was exactly what we wanted, with as much or as little formality as we saw fit. She made the wedding ceremony script so personal to us and added many funny twists. It was absolutely perfect! During the reception I had so many people asking how I knew her or how I found her. By the end of the day, she made friends with some of our family and even sat down and ate with them at our reception. I feel like we made a lifelong friend in her.

We received so many compliments from our guests on how she conducted and directed our wedding: she kept everyone on track (if you have a rowdy bridal group) and she kept the ceremony sincere and loving with a *dash of spice* by adding humor where it was needed so you could hold back some tears. We have a blended family and Brenda suggested a ribbon tying with all 4 of us which was really special. Sean lynch (radio pro djs) and also married an old friend of mine last year. She was quick to respond to my late night message. She rearranged her day so she could help us on such short notice. We met the following Saturday, spent 2 hours together and I immediately knew our friend bailing was the best thing that could have happened. She’s smart, funny, willing to step out of the box to incorporate things we wanted in the ceremony. She did a fantastic job of keeping it serious as getting married is serious, but also keeping it fun for us and our guests. We had and still have people commenting on how unique the ceremony was. ck to me and when my husband and I met up with her in person before the wedding I felt like I had known her for years. After meeting with her it was a weight was lifted off my shoulders, she made me so comfortable and was extremely knowledgeable and I had full faith in her abilities. She interacted with our families and friends and everyone was commenting on how great of a person she was and how much they enjoyed her presence. I lost count of how many people came up to my husband and I, as well as our families, and told us that our ceremony was one of the best they had seen in a very long time. Brenda took the time to get to know us as a couple and made our ceremony unique and personal and I could not have been more pleased. She will forever have a special place in my heart and she has become a lifelong friend. I cannot thank her enough.

I had people coming up to me for weeks after telling me they adored her, she did such a fantastic job, and asking for her information so they could ask her to officiate their weddings as well. She made the ceremony more than just a wedding ceremony. She made it personal and special and really made it about my husband and I and the love we share between each other because she took the time to get to know us. We just love her! We were so fortunate to have her and I would not trade that experience for anything!
