Wow there are not enough kind things I could say about Rick that would ever be enough. Professional, courteous, punctual, kind, genuine, authentic. We are so glad we picked Rick to officiate our wedding. We had the most beautiful ceremony and it was everything we could have dreamed of with his help. We received so many compliments about him and our ceremony. He was truly the best guy for the job and such a special part of our day. If you’re even thinking about using Rick , stop thinking and book it! 10/10. We can’t thank you enough .

We were not happy with the officiant. He made an insensitive comment about individuals on the spectrum, when multiple family members of ours have ASD. He came across as misogynistic and overstepped boundaries set by me (the bride) and our day-of coordinator. 1 out of 5. Do not book this officiant.

Rick was an awesome officiant! Super personable and easy to work with. He hired him as part of a destination wedding, and even though we were hours away from each other, Rick still found a way to make our ceremony tailored to us and exactly what we wanted. He even had a tissue handy when the emotions started flowing lol. He really gets to know his couples, and I would recommend him to everyone!

We loved working with Richard as our officiant. He has great resources to help you customize your ceremony script to whatever your traditions or preferences may be. Day of, he helped us keep the nerves at bay. He did such a great job during ceremony and we had many guests come up to us and tell us how awesome he is! Highly recommmend!!!

Rick made our small elopement ceremony so, so special (10.5.23). We were a last minute addition to his schedule, but you’d never be able to tell. He took so much time with us in the month leading up to our ceremony, careful to make sure everything reflected what we wanted as a couple. On the day of our ceremony, he went so far above and beyond to make everything run smoothly. He took time with our families after the ceremony, and took interest in us as people. He’s very genuine and very kind. His joy and care is so evident. Even though we’ve known him for such a short amount of time, it feels like we’ve found a lifelong friend. ♥️

Richard officiated our wedding on 9.9.23. Everyone loved him as much as we did. He was so well spoken and have amazing samples of what your vows could look like. He made jokes in-between to get a few laughs and even handled my groom a tissue when he was crying. Just all around a fantastic human! Thank you so much for making our ceremony so memorable!

Rick is so deserving of a glowing review! My husband and I live in Michigan so when we decided to get married in SC we were a little nervous about booking out of state vendors. We found Rick via The Knot. Rick was highly professional, accommodating and thoughtful throughout the entire ceremony planning process. He began discussing our ceremony vision with us months in advance and sent over a number of documents that helped us in crafting our perfect ceremony. The day of Rick was punctual and extremely well prepared. We knew we were in good hands with Rick. Kyle and I highly recommend Rick for your officiant needs.

Richard officiated our wedding and did a fantastic job. We married just outside of Bryson City which was about 7 hours from our home. For this reason we were only able to communicate via phone. Richard made it very easy and was very organized and aided us in creating a service that was perfect for us. He made some great suggestions and made the planning very easy. When the time for the ceremony came he was on time, very calm, professional and made sure we didn't have any concerns or questions. The service was perfect, personable and represented us very well. The rehearsal was done prior to the wedding which worked well for us, I, the bride, was not present so as to not see the groom, but he made sure I had all the info I needed. My Groom was very impressed with how quickly he handled the rehearsal and made everybody's role easy to understand. We would highly recommend Richard.

We are so happy that Rick was available for our special day. He helped us tailor our ceremony to exactly what we wanted. Everything went as planned and was absolutely amazing. We had spoke over the phone and e-mail a bit, but had not met him in person before the wedding weekend as we had an intimate destination wedding. Where to even begin with a review for Rick! My family has been incredibly lucky to know Rick for almost 10 years, as we first met when he was the head concierge at the Charleston Place Hotel. There, Rick quickly stole our hearts as he has always been the most kind, personable and well-connected man in all of Charleston! Flash forward 8 years when I got engaged, I knew exactly who my family would love to work with as an officiant. Rick exhibited such kindness and assistance to me and my family while planning our wedding during a pandemic. Due to COVID, we had to move our wedding date, and Rick was so kind, understanding and flexible with us on that. He even drove 4+ hours each way to help us! I did not know where to begin when creating the wedding ceremony program, but Rick eased my nerves by providing multiple readings, poems, offerings and vow examples to help craft our perfect ceremony. On the weekend of our out-of-town wedding, our perfect 70 and sunny weather drastically changed to 40 and raining sideways, and since our ceremony was outside we quickly had to pivot. We were able to find a church inside and reached out to Rick and the rest of our guests the morning-of our wedding that we changed venues... Again, Rick was so kind, understanding and helpful in making us feel calm and collected during the chaos. I truly cannot recommend a better officiant, and friend, to have on the day of your wedding. Rick has such a welcoming, calm and loving personality that means the absolute world to you and your nerves on your wedding day. I really cannot recommend him enough!!

Richard is fabulous. As soon as we had our first phone call with him, we knew he was the person we wanted to officiate our wedding. His guidance throughout the entire process of creating a ceremony script was invaluable. On our wedding day, he was so organized and had a calming presence, which was much needed. My wife and I contacted Weddings by Richard Burton for a quote and was blown away by his acceptance and his passion for making us a lawfully wedded couple! He was unable to perform our ceremony but his colleague, the fabulous Holly Stiel, was able to take over. From the moment Holly signed on to work with us she was patient, kind, and her only goal was to perform a beautiful ceremony for my now wife and I. She took the time to get to know us, helped us pick our vows and the order of the ceremony. She offered suggestions that were great! The day of our wedding she was on time, kind, loving, and got us laughing and breathing at the the alter as my wife and I are both not in the center of spotlight people. After the ceremony she handled and mailed all of our paperwork priority mail. Within a week of getting married we had our official certificate! I cannot recommend Weddings by Richard Burton and specifically Holly enough!!!

We can’t say enough great things about Rick! We were delayed due to covid and he exceeded our expectations as an officiant . He is so calm, confident and warm. We knew we wanted to book Rick after seeing him as the officiant in another wedding video. Our expectations were always exceeded from our initial phone call to the confirmation of our wedding license being sent within 24 hours of the ceremony. Rick is very professional and made us feel at ease on the wedding day. We were especially impressed with the library of options and templates he accumulated over the years and made available for us to to choose from; we were able to fully customize with ease everything that was said during the ceremony. We had such a great experience working with Rick for our March 6, 2021 wedding. My husband and I unfortunately had to postpone our wedding due to the pandemic, and being able to bring Rick onto our vendor team during the rescheduling process was such a silver-lining. Our incredible wedding planner, Cayleigh (from The Petal Report), recommended Rick and we had such a fun experience planning our ceremony. My husband and I were looking for some traditional elements, but also some personal pieces, and Rick did a great job incorporating all of those. He’s kind, professional and we were fortunate enough to meet him in person during a planning trip before our big day. We really appreciated the resources and examples he sent over, as we had no idea where to start with ceremony planning. We loved being able to choose what was best for us and making it completely our own. Rick also did a great job running our rehearsal in tandem with our planner. The process was very straightforward and our entire wedding party and immediate families really appreciated the rehearsal being efficient and to the point - which made the surprise ‘extra-time’ we had for a drink before our rehearsal dinner a great start to the festivities. We felt so confident Rick would do a great job day-of and HE DID. He is so well spoken and there are so many little things that couples ‘think to remind their officiant of’ - Rick already had it covered. He also made my husband and I feel so at ease during our ceremony and really had our guests focused on us. Thank you, Rick, for being part of our day!

We were supposed to have a family friend officiate our wedding but that fell through so I did some last minute searching and found Rick. I reached out to him with only a month or two before our wedding date and he was able to fit us in and was happy to do so! After talking with him and us getting to know each other I knew right away he would be a perfect fit. He was able to make the trip to our wedding and was absolutely fantastic. He made us very comfortable (which is so important), and was so easy to talk to. He was very easy to reach if I had a question or a comment. I found Rick on the Knot and was planning a destination wedding in Hilton Head so it was a little scary at first having a stranger marry you- especially without meeting him prior to the wedding day. HOWEVER!!! Rick did a phenomenal job! We totally felt like we knew him. Planning was super easy and I was able to customize the ceremony with an easy to use template which was amazing. I’m not sure if Rick should be in the category of best kept word of mouth secrets or not, but I’ll go ahead and leave him a review anyway! Words can’t describe the fantastic professional service Rick provides from the moment you inquire about him. He is so responsive and treats you like family. He really truly cares about each couple he marries and It shows. Rick is so organized and helpful and honestly, Did more footwork for us than people that charge $1200+ for very simple planning services. If you’re looking for a minister to marry you in the Charleston area- book him. If you’re not in Charleston, try to get him anyway. He’s so worth it! Rick does this because he loves it. He loves people, he loves joy, and he loves life. He knows how to be classy and formal and can also be casual and as relaxed as you need him to be. Treating people how they desire to be treated in the service industry is not easy and Rick is the best of them all. Do yourself a favor and hire him before someone else does!

We are so glad we chose Rick to be our officiant for our wedding in Dunes West! He is a very kind and generous gentleman. Rick helped us prepare our vows and readings for the ceremony and his attention to detail is out of this world. He was always quick to respond and catered to all our needs and then some! With Rick as the officiant, we didn’t need one! I absolutely love Richard! He was such a huge help and made sure that everything was perfect. We wanted a quick ceremony especially since the temperature dropped to the 50s and we were doing an outdoor ceremony and he delivered. We had Richard sitting with my grandparents, god mother, aunt and uncle, and dj. Everyone loved getting to eat dinner with him and had nothing but good things to say. When he says he will make sure your day is perfect he means it! We had some drama and he made sure to be there to help my mom and grandparents get it all figured out. He is the kindest person I have ever met!
