We cannot thank Paul enough for making our wedding ceremony so incredibly special. Paul had a sincere interest in getting to know us and understanding our vision. He took the time to personalize our ceremony beautifully, making it feel deeply meaningful, authentic, and uniquely ours.
Paul was easy to work with throughout the entire planning process, bringing a positive energy that put us completely at ease. If you are looking for a minister who is professional, enthusiastic, and genuinely invested in your big day, we cannot recommend Paul highly enough!
My husband and I love the Redwoods, and we decided that we wanted to elope there in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park in the company of just our immediate family. We are non-religious nature lovers and wanted to find an officiant that matched us. We first met Paul remotely over Zoom and found him to be the perfect fit. He was calm, funny, and charming from the get-go.
Paul helped us shape our ceremony, including giving us several options for vows since we didn't want to write our own. He then coordinated the entire ceremony, including holding our rings and even my bouquet at times. The ceremony itself was beautiful and brought in messaging and lessons from the Redwood trees around us. The icing on the cake was that, at the end of all of the hugs, he gave us a waterproof folder containing a copy of our ceremony's script, our vows, and our decorative marriage certificate.
Most importantly, Paul was there to save us when, the day before our wedding, the parks service told us that the road to our ceremony site would be closed. We didn't even get a chance to call Paul before he emailed us and let us know that he just saw the road closure online. He then immediately recommended another site that we liked even better than our original plans. In hindsight, we should've just asked him to pick a location for us to save us the stress of trying to find one from out-of-state!
We can't thank or recommend Paul enough, especially to other couples that are in our same shoes. If you're looking to elope in the Redwoods, especially if you're unfamiliar with the area and locations, then Paul is the shoulder I'd lean on.

Hello, I'm based in Arcata, CA, on the Redwood Coast. Paul Marsh, that's me, is Weddings In The Wild. Your officiant, concierge and adventurer. I perform poetic, nature focused ceremonies for elopements, weddings, vow renewals, and non-legal commitment ceremonies. Concierge service is an option for you if your planning a destination elopement or wedding on the Redwood Coast.

My energy, enthusiasm, knowledge, and reassuring presence combine to create a most memorable experience on your special day. The goal is that your day is low stress and fun, as well as an experience of a lifetime.
A former outdoor adventure professor at Cal Poly Humboldt, I have a genuine passion for outdoor weddings. Helping couples to wed in a beautiful setting where they feel most inspired and comfortable. In 2015, a former student asked me to "marry them". Afterwards, the photographer, an different former student told me that I "had to" do this because at no other wedding he had photographed had the officiant delivered such a beautiful, nature oriented ceremony. This inspired me to start Weddings In The Wild to help couples make their special day both beautifully memorable and low stress. So, as a former recreation and tourism professor, I reached out to my students who were in the marrying stage of life and asked them for input. It worked, and basically Weddings in the Wild is a crowdsourced business, from the name to the concierge option.
Your ceremony with Weddings In The Wild will be based on your needs, beliefs and vision. I am a non-denominational/civic minister who strives to build a relationship. Working to understand you as a couple and help you to create the wedding of your vision. My ceremonies use nature based metaphor to capture the poetic beauty of the natural setting. The delivery is heartfelt and joyful.
