Wedit had a smooth process for receiving and sending the cameras. It’s an easy to use process and our guests certainly had fun helping us film. They were quick to turn around the raw footage which we have loved watching. Would recommend it as a cheaper alternative to a videographer! One tip: Have a plan for each camera and consider getting a tripod. Make sure you have all the big moments covered! Also, if you are planning to set up a camera and just have it play, ours turned off after about 45 minutes so make sure you have someone check that they are still recording periodically throughout the night! Overall, I am glad I was able to use this company because we otherwise would not have been able to have videography!
Worst customer service I have ever experienced. They lost half our videos. Half the videos never uploaded for us to see and when I contacted them I was told MANY times they would look…and then weeks would go by and I would never see the rest of the videos uploaded or get a response. Finally, they said they had found the videos and uploaded them to a different drive that they said they emailed me. I never got the email. I responded that I never got the email, but I never got a reply from them. We are now a year and a half past our wedding date and I still don’t have half the videos and so obviously never got a wedding video created. I’m sure when all goes well the videos turn out great…but when there is a problem, in my experience, their customer service is terrible. I’m tired of waiting for this issue to resolve so I will be contacting one last time to get a refund and just cut my losses with the videos we did receive.
Gave this company my money and haven't heard from them in 6 months. I have sent over 10 emails that have been ignored, Facebook messages, and they have literally never answered the phone or responded to any of my 3+ voicemails. This is a complete scam!!!!! I'm so disappointed I found them on TheKnot.com.
I can't recommend this company enough! We had some family that were unable to make it to our wedding due to some health reasons, but we we still wanted to help them feel like they were a part of the experience. Having a video of our wedding day seemed to be the right option, but MAN are videographers expensive! Wedit seemed like a PERFECT option for us! We still got videos of the day, but for pennies compared to videographers. Our experience couldn't have gone more smoothly. They were extremely easy to work with, answered our questions ahead of time, and the cameras arrived exactly how/when they said they would. After the wedding, they did a great job communicating updates with the editing, and were super receptive to our feedback. They were SO wonderful that I even ended up sending them a box full of thank you cookies - that's how stoked I was on working with them. Overall, the experience couldn't have been better! We ended up "Assigning" two cameras to people with a list of moments we didn't want to miss, then the rest was a free-for-all. Turned out GREAT! And we'll enjoy the final video (and the extra clips) over the years and decades to come. Check out what a great job they did: https://youtu.be/2lqtdBkIojQ
A must do for weddings! This service is fabulous and such a great way to document the day. We had a blast video tapping the day, and it was great to have it documented from the point of view of our guests and important people in our lives!
The team was also very responsive with any questions and professional! Such a great value and great idea for your special day!
My husband and I could not afford to hire a videographer, so when I saw WedIt on Pinterest, I was intrigued. The five iPod touches were delivered to our door several days before the wedding, giving us time to make sure they were charged and all working correctly (which they were), the tags on the cameras made several suggestions of moments to film, and our guests really enjoyed playing with them throughout the day. We had people going around asking for words of encouragement, people taking the long, sweeping shots of the ceremony and reception spaces, the big moments like the first dance or cake cutting. Everything was just GREAT. We shipped back the cameras and less than 48 hours later received the link to all our videos and pictures. Our guests had taken almost 1,000 pictures and about 100 videos!! It was amazing to see all the behind-the-scenes action, and to have all that documentation to look through while we were on our honeymoon. Professional videography and photography has a several week turn-around, so this was a really nice way to get guests involved, save A LOT of money, and be able to have our footage quickly and easily. We can't wait to get our edited video! So excited.
We simply did not have enough room in our budget for a videographer on our wedding day but really wanted video to remember key moments, including our ceremony and speeches. After doing some research I found Wedit and decided to try it out. I am so happy we did. We now have wonderful video of everything we wanted from our guest’s perspectives. It’s certainly not professional quality but there is something special and personal about a friend or family member taking the video, they often see something a stranger may not. Wedit was super easy to use and we got our videos back so fast. Definitely a great option if you cannot afford a videographer.
It was the good choice for us on our budget for our wedding. We couldn't afford a videographer, so we found wedit.com. It's a great idea, give cameras to five people get video from different points of view. The cameras were able to capture some moments that we were not able to experience. However, video quality was not that great and the guest that we gave cameras to didn't read the tiny directions on the attached card instructing them to hold the ipod horizontal. I found the cost of renting the cameras a little steep for the quality of film.
If I were to do my wedding over again, I would still choose to spend the money to rent the wedit ipods but I would make sure that the people using the cameras knew how to use them and knew what we wanted to see.... more video more picture. Tell them to take pictures and video until they run out of memory.
I had seen this service on Pinterest a bunch while planning my wedding. I thought it seemed a little to good to be true so I decided against using it. However, my wonderful bridal party realized we didn't have a videographer and bought these for us as a gift. Unfortunately, this was simply a waste of money. The pictures are absolutely terrible quailty, most are completely unusable. The video is hit and miss because they only work in bright natural light(and partially due to the fact that the guests did not read the sign on the cameras and many filmed vertically and upside down). And now that we have all the raw footage, it's either up to us to edit it into something watchable ourselves or pay another $350 for the site to edit it for us. If you really want a video of your wedding, pay a professional to film it. Wedit is just a rip off and a headache.
We got the full package-- including a full edit package for under $800-- really wonderful bang for the buck, and more personal than a typical videographer
We wanted video but didn't want to pay thousands for it. This was a great option for us. They sent us five video cameras the Tuesday before, we sent them back the Monday after, we had access to the video by the Wednesday after our wedding. I love that I have time to decide how we use it and that we have multiple angles of our ceremony. If you're concerned about the price of videography, check this out!
In theory, this seemed like a great idea - we could capture moments of our wedding as they were to our guests. However, when we received the "HD Cameras" as described on the website, they were actually ipod touches. It also was very stressful to decide who we would ask to use these cameras throughout the night, but we felt like we were asking guests to work! Thankfully one of our friends was there with his actual video camera and was able to videotape most of our wedding day so we didn't have to rely on the short clips from the ipods. definitely not worth it and I would not recommend it. I gave them two stars for service because a representative was timely in responding back to me about an address change.
Be sure to read the fine print. Probably my mistake but did not realize the cameras would be iPod touches. Not only does everyone have a smartphone now a days which renders the service unnecessary, it also required a well lit room. As I had an evening wedding, that was not possible. Alas I did not use the service and returned the cameras, I emailed the people as I expected a partial refund at the very least. However Wedit refused to grant it. The reasons are somewhat unclear as I did not use half the services I signed up for. I can't imagine sending 5 iPod touches cost $349. Very confused and very upset. Will tell all my friends to avoid.
Good cameras and service. When using the cameras have a teaching tutorial so people get video in the right direction of videos are not good quality.
We chose Wedit because we were trying to put our money in the places that mattered to us most--venue, photography, etc. During planning, videography didn't rank that high on our list. I wish I had done almost anything else. Although the Wedit site promises five HD cameras and shows pictures of Flip cameras, we received five iPod touches (4th gen.) The quality was not what we thought it would be based on examples on the website. In the end, one of the biggest reasons I wish we had done something else was because of the people we asked to do it. I wish we had talked to them more thoroughly and not expected them to read the tag on the iPod that said to hold the it horizontally. I wish we had asked more specifically for the type of footage we wanted. More than anything, I wish I had reallocated money to have a real videographer.
I read a few negative reviews about Wedit when I first started planning (mostly around their customer service), but I figured they were a new company still working out the kinks and decided to take a chance. I'm so glad I did! Our videos came out great -- I was very worried when I first saw a lot of the footage my guests got -- I didn't think they'd be able to pull it together into anything coherent. They far surpassed my expectations -- the videos are beautiful! They've also been very responsive to every request I've had.
Tip: Remember to tell people to hold the cameras horizontally so you don't get a bunch of vertical videos. The cameras came with a card with this warning, but it didn't really look like a "must read" thing. Most people just ignored it.
Overall, I loved the idea of having so many HD cameras to use throughout all of our wedding festivities, and some very unique clips were captured. However, from the information I received it seemed that we would be getting all the raw footage and a video made by Wedit. We did receive all of the raw footage, but in order to get the video there is another fee. If I had known of the additional fee, I would have hired a videographer rather than using the cameras. We are now trying to filter through all of the raw footage to create our own video.
We ordered five video cameras and gave them to guests to capture the wedding. Have not seen the videos yet but love the idea of getting 5 different perspectives at the wedding!
One of the five HD cameras didnt work - it deleted all but 5 pictures. And some of the cameras did not show HD quality photographs or video once it was uploaded.
Pretty disappointing. I'd suggest finding a professional to just film the ceremony and first dances... and people's well-wishes... and edit them.
Its cool to think of viewing your wedding in five different view points, but guests arent professionals, and the wedit equipment was substandard.
I must say though, shipping was super easy.
Our cameras arrived a day early, safely packaged with instructions for use and a prepaid return label. The cameras were easy to use, and repackaging and returning them was very simple. We are still reviewing our video clips, but they were uploaded within less than a week of us sending the cameras back (the estimate for uploads had been three weeks). We were very happy with this service, and look forward to editing the videos!
We wanted to have our big day recorded, but at the prices some other companies, we just couldn't afford it. After reading the reviews about Wedit, we thought why not. The cameras were delivered the Wednesday of the wedding and we are beyond happy we went with this decision. The videos look great and so do the pictures. All of our emails were answered quickly! Thank you so much for everything.
I was having a destination wedding but couldn't afford to hire a videographer. I got lucky and won the service. It was great being able to pass out the 5 HD cameras to my guests to film the whole weekend and not just the wedding ceremony. I highly suggest it. The cameras are so easy to use and quality is great.
I was under the impression that the edited video was included. That was the only reason we paid for wedit. The quality of the camera is horrible if your wedding has alot of uplighting. only decent quality was outdoors. I could of saved money and bought 5 camera myself and done what they did!
This was really cool, sadly our families did not read the tags and held the camera's like cell phones not the way the tags says so our videos look a little funny (I think this is probably a common problem thus the tags) but it turned out pretty well anyway. I do not like their editing software but lucky my husband knows how to do it himself.
I used the Wedit system to video my wedding. The cost was fantastic - $349 which included overnight mailing to us (we received the cameras 5 days before the wedding) and included a mailing label to overnight them back to Wedit. I received an email conformation as soon as Wedit mailed the cameras with a tracking number and I received an email confirming that they had received the camera back safely. The system came with 5 camera and each camera has 2 hours of footage on them. The battery on each camera lasts for about the same amount of time. The cameras take both video and photos. We used one camera for our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. We also used one for the ceremony and a couple for the receptions. This is was just awesome! We then get all of the raw footage and can make our own video of the wedding or for an additional fee, they will make one for you.
Overall, this was an awesome way to go. I would just recommend that you make sure you have "designated" camera people at your wedding so anything important doesn't get missed.
We got married in October... Not a very busy wedding season. It took 6 weeks to receive the link to the site and the "DVDs". The link is very disorganized. They don't put them in any sort of order. The clips were very random rather than putting them in order of camera and clip #. Also the DVDs don't work on a DVD player. The DVDs come in cheap cases and generic labels. I was expecting our names to at least be on them.
The quality of the videos are great in daylight... But our outdoor reception went into the night and you cannot see anything. They should have mentioned that the cameras are only good in bright light.
I would never recommend this company... Unless I really didn't like you.
Luckily this is the only thing from the wedding that was a disappointment.
Wedit is a great way to get your wedding videos!! It is affordable and also you get to go online and edit your own wedding videos with the wedit team the way you want them!! Love it!!
Such a great idea! So much better value for your money than a traditional videographer. You can take photos and videos with the cameras they send you and the footage you capture is all candid and I think makes for such a better video than a traditional videographer.
Wedit gave me the opportunity to have an Amazing wedding video at a reasonable price. My friends and family had a lot of fun with the cameras and I can't wait to see the final product!
The cameras came right when they said they would and were so much fun for our guests to use. We sent them back and are waiting for the final product. Very satisfied, just wish the batteries lasted a little bit long, however, I think we got a lot of great footage!
Wedit is a nice alternative to a traditional vidoegrapher. It costs much less as a service, and you often get tape which is far more fun anyway. The cameras aren't of the best quality, but they aren't bad either. You also get an editor to take your raw footage and make a more formal video for you. Overall a good value.
Not wanting to dismiss the importance of videography at our wedding, my fiance and I were not prepared to spend a fourth of our budget on the well known local vendors. After a few emails & meetings with lesser known options, we decided to halt the search as it wasnt going to be worth spending the money if we weren't going to be happy with the product. And then I saw an add for Wedit...what a cool idea! Our wedding vision was to be intimate from the start - only our closest friends and family so what better way to make a video than to have your guests capture the moments?
Our guests had such a blast with the cameras, nobody put them down! We have our ceremony shot from 5 angles, so many amazing moments and smiling faces that only one videographer could never have captured.
The Wedit team is helpful, responsive and work very hard to make their clients happy all for a great price. We are almost done editing our full length video and are IN LOVE with the highlight video, it really is our perfect day so brilliantly captured & edited.
Thank You Sarah & Brett for being so responsive and making sure your clients are happy.
I haven't recieved my final video yet but the process was really easy. Brett the owner was very nice to work with. The cameras arrived on time in a great carrying case. My guests enjoyed filming. Can't wait to see the final edited video!
We looked briefly into hiring a videographer but they were so expensive! This was a great alternative and was a lot of fun. Our family and friends had a great time using the cameras. We haven't gotten a chance to review all of the footage, but it looks great so far and we can't wait to see the final montage and ceremony film. I'd definitely recommend this service!
I used Wedit for my wedding and although it was a great idea and we have a TON of amazing, funny, romantic videos, I would provide a word of caution to be VERY careful who you give the cameras to and make sure they understand what you are looking for. I made the mistake of assuming my closest friends would take really great videos, which in effect was true, however, we have many that are VERY shaky, some are turned to the side-Wedit cameras do not auto flip when you turn them-and we have a good amount of cleavage shots from someone who thought that would be what we wanted on our videos. :) We still had some amazing laughs and we have all of the main things you would want in a wedding video....just be very careful selecting your videographers!!!
The ease of use was so simple and it was nice not to have some guy with a huge camera following you around or getting in your way.
So far, Brett and Wedit have been great! I don't have my video yet but all of the customer service to this point has been awesome. And my guests had so much fun with the cameras. :)
Wedit it is the perfect way to catch all those moments that "professional" videographers don't. You have eight people record throughout all of the wedding festivities and you get footage that is priceless. The best part is - the Wedit staff sifts through all the footage and edits them for you into a highlight video and a longer version of the video with your favorite music. I love that I have different angles of our wedding that the professional didn't catch. We had these video cameras with us at the rehearsal dinner, the night before the ceremony, getting ready before the ceremony, etc... And it really adds a personal touch b/c it's your family and friends who are doing the recording. I watched our highlight video about ten times right after we got it. I love it! Definitely worth the money...
I recently got married and knew I really wanted a wedding video to capture every moment, but knew it wasnt in our budget...my friend had seen Wedit on the wedding channel website and told me about it. The cost was very reasonable and affordable, so we decided to go with it! And Im SO glad we did! All of our guests were more than happy to be involved and felt honored to be a part of filming. The end result was more than I could of imagined, there were so many moments they captured that I did'nt even know happened! I would definatley recommend Wedit to any bride planning there upcoming wedding!!!!!
I found Wedit through a Wedding Channel coupon and, after checking out their website (www.wedit.com), I was sold. I knew a videographer was not in our budget, so I decided that the DIY-filming option was the way to go. They send you 5 Flip cameras, so your event is captured from 5 different angles.
I recruited two guests that I knew had a good photographic eye to “officially” film the ceremony, speeches, and dances to be SURE that the most important moments got captured, but my guests enjoyed being able to randomly pick up a camera and leave a message for us, or secretly film their family member/friend gettin' down on the dance floor.
My e-mails were answered promptly (mostly by the CEO, Brett- there is a hilarious youtube video with him and two Barbies in it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4b5z9Qr30o) and the wedit team was even available by phone. The staff was extremely helpful and polite. After allowing you to view your clips online, wedit asks for your input about the style of video that you want and what parts of your event you specifically want and don't want in your video. I went through every clip (there were 194!) and documented exactly what I wanted in our video, BUT you also have the option of letting them do their thing with more of a general idea from you. You are the master of your own wedding video!
Within the past few days, I received my wedding highlight reel (a compilation of clips from the wedding set to a song of your choice) and also the full length video of the rehearsal dinner, before the ceremony, the ceremony itself, speeches, dances, the bouquet toss, and fun clips from other parts of the reception. I have been able to show many people the highlight reel right from my phone and sent the link to the full length video to all of the members of the wedding party and my family. My mom said that it was like "re-living the whole event," and last night, my maid of honor waited until her daughter went to sleep at 1:30 am and then e-mailed me, "So awesome! Just stayed up to watch it...and I loved it!”
The videos created for my husband and I by wedit are creatively produced and viewer-friendly. There are professional-looking titles before each part of the movie featuring the songs that we requested playing in the background, and the whole video flows nicely. For example, at the beginning of the reception, we taped a clip about how we were going to do the electric slide sometime during the party, and that clip was added into the video just before the footage of the whole crowd doing the electric slide at the end of the reception. The wedit editors take the disjointed random clips from all 5 cameras and make them MAKE SENSE.
After watching each of my videos, there were one or two things that I wanted to change and the wedit team has welcomed my input- it's part of the process. I have edited movies before: it is very time consuming, but I am pretty picky. I was a bit nervous about giving up the editing control, but wedit is so responsive and did such a good job in the first place, they have earned my trust. It was so nice to just send back the cameras and say, “YOU do the editing and send it to me when you’re done.”
The cameras are handheld Flip cameras, so you can't expect Hollywood-quality footage, but if you want a video that you can watch for the rest of your life when you want to relive the special day that went by SO FAST, I highly recommend wedit.
Still waiting for my highlight video, but everyone LOVED the flip cams. They arrived early to allow us to capture moments from the entire weekend. They arrived in a cute hard sided case with instructions, tips and post-its and pens for notes and must-haves. Having 5 cameras allowed us to get video from different and at the same time in different places. No videographer can do that and the savings were UNBELIEVABLE! We are anxiously awaiting our video and will post our ratings for that!!!
When my initial videographer fell through, I was really upset. But then I found out about Wedit through The Wedding Channel and I was actually glad that the first guy fell through because this was soooooo much better! It is an affordable and fun way to have a wedding video, and, in my opinion, it's much more personal.
What's really great, too, is that with this, you can have video at the rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, getting ready, in the limo, getting pictures, at the reception, etc. I mean, you might be able to have that with a hired videographer, too, but that would cost a small fortune.
My husband was very concerned with asking people to use the cameras, but everyone who did use them had a blast doing it and we got some great videos, including the toasts & blessing in full! I am soooo glad we used Wedit & I would highly recommend them to anyone!
Also, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the amazingly fast response time of the Wedit staff. I'm talking within minutes! All wedding vendors should learn a lesson from these folks. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being absolutely awesome, I give them an 11!
