My wife and I got married on 9/21/2024 (not long after the 1 star review) and we had quite a different experience as far as the day of. The communication could have been better on Welch's end leading up to the wedding but that was our only issue and honestly is expected from a ski resort in the off season. The big day was perfect. The food and drinks were delicious and we were able to work around diets and allergy issues including modifying a couple of the main foods. I highly recommend speaking to Jason as much as possible as he is not only an excellent chef but is incredibly friendly and is willing to work with you to make sure your day is perfect. We had so many compliments about our venue from our guests! We had around 120 people and we felt it was just the right amount in there. Any more might have felt a little bit cramped with the dance floor. 10/10 experience i would recommend this venue to anyone!
Pros:
• Extremely Beautiful Views: The venue offers breathtaking and private scenic views, making it a beautiful location.
• Excellent Food: The food is delicious, and the chef provides outstanding customer service, ensuring guests have a great dining experience.
Cons:
• Lack of communication: The response time from the events department was slow, despite having a conversation to try to fix this. I was waiting anywhere from 2 .5 to 5 weeks for a response to an email. A few examples of poor communication: 1. It took over the month to hear back to get the contract signed. 2. The day of, there were items that were not communicated to other departments, which led to my wedding party and parents needing to ask for help constantly throughout the night. 3. Finally, we did not receive a $1,000 credit on two untapped kegs over a month past the wedding.
• Delayed Dinner: Dinner was served 20 minutes late, causing us to miss our sunset during our evening photos. Although the food was excellent, the timing issues were disappointing.
• Facility Issues: Our weekend ended up being quite hot and humid. It was so hot and sunny at the rehearsal dinner was the night before, that people left our dinner early because it was so hot. We lucked out with clouds the next day, however; I was up the night before worrying about our elderly guests being stuck in a hot building all day.
• Other Issues (small but still mentionable): The chairs in the reception area were still dirty and I needed to have my family clean them the day before. Additionally, the contract mentioned glassware and all drinks were served in plastic and aluminum.
We brought these issues to management, and they were not willing to give us any financial compensation for the issues we experienced. I felt that this was in poor taste given that we gave them over twenty thousand dollars.
Since food, beverages, and venue costs typically account for 60-70% of a wedding budget, I would reconsider using Welch Village.
We had a great experience with welch. We had our ceremony and reception there and everyone thought it was beyond beautiful. I also heard so many compliments about the food, which truly was amazing! There were flood warnings due to the over flowing of the Canon river but luckily we were able to go on as planned. Jason, the food and beverage coordinator was the best to work with. I would reccommend this venue to anyone looking for a rustic/vintage or cozy romantic feel to their wedding. Beautiful!!
Perfect place for a reception. Plenty of space, your party is the only people there, other than the servers! Indoor and outdoor space available.
We chose Welch Village for the beautiful location and setting. These things did not disappoint. However, we were promised many things upon signing the contract that were not fulfilled during the planning process as well as our wedding day. It was very frustrating and many things were left to fall through the cracks even after numerous discussions and the coordinator writing things down! We had to put our foot down multiple times when they tried to change things on us like the menu and the floor plan. None of our requests were difficult or complicated. I would strongly advise those thinking about Welch Village to look elsewhere in order to save your sanity. We considered going somewhere else, but we'd already printed our invitations and couldn't have easily made the venue change.
