Hi, we worked with Jonah @ We're Gonna Make It and I can't recommend him highly enough. We had a family video that had to be made in a few days, with source material from iPhones, random photographers, bad videos, etc. Somehow Jonah pulled it all together, told a funny, compelling, moving story in under eight minutes (including family credits!) and turned our amateur photography into an art piece. I've worked in film for 30 years, I've seen a lot of movies and talent. Jonah is that good.
I had already selected another editor to make my child’s graduation video when I heard about Jonah’s work. Why would I want another boring chronological montage of pictures with bad music when you could have instead what feels like fantastic short film with narration from the family? At first, I resisted, it sounded like a budget I didn’t have and I mistakenly worried I’d have to take more videos etc. Thank goodness I was intrigued and eventually hired Jonah! The next part was so easy! Jonah interviewed my husband and I for no more than a half an hour. Then I transferred a poorly organized file of photos and videos. Jonah didn’t blink. I did also offer up some of the music I knew to be my kid’s favorite. One of my husband’s favorite phrases when he is disappointed with something is “…they overpromised and underdelivered again!” Well this was the first time he used the phrase… Jonah “underpromised and overdelivered!” Jonah seemed to just intuitively realize how to put everyone in their best light without it feeling like an advertisement or something less than authentic. It was also true that it felt like a short film and something everyone in the family could be proud of. He also had a nice way of including everyone and not offending anyone. Finally, I can imagine other events and purposes I might want to work with Jonah. I would recommend you dig deep to get a chance to do this. You will not be disappointed!

I'm a documentary filmmaker, so I know how to find those moments as they happen and piece them together into a story that's uniquely yours. I'm not there to direct your day; I'm there to notice every little detail. My background in comedy means I have an ear for joy and lightness, and I love to lead with that, then hit you with the emotion. What you get, in the end, is a short film that sounds like your people and feels like your day. Something you'll return to again and again, because it's honest, and it's yours. In addition to capturing the day, I also love setting up a story tent at the reception, where guests can step away for a minute and record a message just for the two of you. Weddings move fast, and it's hard to really talk to everyone you love in one day. This is my way of slowing it down, catching your people looking their best and speaking straight from the heart, straight to you. You'll get the full, unedited messages, plus a short film cut together from all of them.

I am a documentary filmmaker based in Brooklyn. Currently, I am a staff videographer and editor at Life Magazine. I am happiest telling other people's stories, but to tell you a little about myself: I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I am the eldest of 5 children and grew up in a duplex with my large extended family including my 4 younger siblings, 3 cousins, aunt and uncle and grandparents. It was a house full young artists trying to make it and their screaming young babies. Growing up, I sat next to my uncle as he painted murals on our backyard walls and filmed my dad and his bandmates as they made a rock album in one of the bedrooms. It is a family of big personalities and storytellers and as the eldest child of my generation, I had that typical desire to collect them all and share them with my younger siblings, cousins and now as an adult, and as the adults above me get older, I cherish those stories even more.
While I was a student at Columbia University studying history, my love of storytelling and research only deepened. Since college, I have been working in documentary film and have more recently begun making wedding videos and family mini documentaries for a variety of clients.
I love when I can give couples and their families the gift of capturing and collecting their own stories. We are all full of so many and celebrating them and passing them on are something I am passionate about. I look forward to meeting you and hearing how I can make a film that captures who you are and who you love.
