Western Kentucky Botanical Gardens

My husband and I booked this venue because it was beautiful, inexpensive, & allowed us to bring our own vendors. We booked the gazebo, the pond area, & the building that had a getting ready room & bathrooms for only $600. It was a great deal & the grounds were lovely for the pictures. But sadly I still have to advise not to book this venue. The woman who runs it seems very sweet at first but she was an absolute pain in the ass. After we rented our areas & she knew which areas we were using for the ceremony & reception she decided to plant two trees right where I was going to have my ceremony so I had to move it. I rented the pond area & was assured that by wedding day it would be clean but it was not. It was covered in green muck. But those things I could honestly overlook. They were minor things compared to the real problem which was her. She never answered emails, rarely answers phone calls or returns them. You basically had to go there to get anything done. Even then she just decides when she wants to leave and even though you may show up during open hours she may not be there. She likes to go home early. In fact the day that I was going there to pay the rest of what I owed she called me at 11 & said that she was concerned that I wasn't going to be there in time to pay her. I mentioned to her that the gardens was open until 3 and it was only 11. She said yeah but I would really like it if I showed up before 1. What? Even though the office hours are until 3 she just didn't want to stay until then. The day before the wedding she was all up in our business. Even though we had several meetings previously over the same things over & over she kept wanting to have meetings telling us the same things we already knew & signed a contract on. While we were setting up for the wedding the day before she kept bothering us & watching us. She wanted us to get off of the gazebo patio because they had recently washed it & she didn't want someone to fall but they shouldn't have waited until we were setting up to wash it. She bothered my caterer. The business that we rented our tables & chairs from actually refused to work with her directly because they have had so many problems with her. On wedding day she bombarded the people that showed up to help me set up with questions. She said who are you, where do you work, do you have kids, what are your kids names, etc. Like none of your damn business! She was there to help me set up decorations. Then I get there with a complete car full of decorations & my wedding dress. I get there and she won't let me through & won't give me the key to the building until we sat down and had YET ANOTHER MEETING. I was bothered that she wanted to have another meeting when I was on a schedule to get set up and get ready for my wedding but told her that I would go hang up my dress so that it didn't wrinkle and be right back. She refused to give me the key and let me in until we had this meeting. It pissed me off and we argued and things got really heated. I had already paid and signed a contract and had a million meetings with her. She added extra stress on my wedding day!!! I went to grab the key and she actually grabbed my hand and wouldn't let go and threatened to call the cops on me! After things cooled down we had the meeting and it was the same stuff she had already told us before which pissed me off even more. It was so stressful and an absolute nightmare. I tell everyone not to have their weddings there because of it.
