She created a custom backdrop for us out of florals and sewing hoops to honor my grandmother that is no longer with us— that was so special to me. Melissa has a true eye for taking florals to the next level. She really understands different mediums, textures (i.e. florals, for us pumpkins, candles, vases, etc.) and making them work to create an enchanting scenery. You have to see the amazing work she did for us!

Our location was at The Lodge at Ballantyne, a beautiful venue in itself, however Melissa transformed it into a romantic paradise that literally made me tear up! My wedding would not have been as cohesive and truly mine without her. Her whole team worked swiftly and we’re on the same page. She’s one of the loveliest people I’ve met.

ts this review. I met with Melissa on 1/19/2018 for a consultation as she came highly recommended by our venue (Whitehead Manor) and photographer. She was great in person, and I truly felt that she saw my vision of lots of greenery and neutral colored flowers. Unfortunately, I did not receive my proposal for our wedding until 3/14/2018, which was nearly two months after my initial consultation, and several items that we discussed were missing. I followed up multiple times, sometimes to no response and sometimes to a response along the lines of “I’m so sorry, I’ve been so busy and will work on this next week”. Our wedding coordinator was shocked when I told her this and felt terrible. I’m not sure if Melissa just did not want to work on our wedding or what, but she left me with quite the dilemna to find a new florist just 2 months prior to my scheduled bridal portraits. Fortunately, the florist we ended up going with was more than accommodating and excellent with communication. Our wedding flowers by our new florist ended up being beautiful and we received so many compliments; maybe it was a blessing in disguise that I was so disappointed with Melissa.

ould have imagined. From the very beginning she was so sweet, so professional, so patient, so creative, and when I got to the wedding venue I was truly blown away. She was super easy to work with and answered my emails so fast every time. For a nominal fee she set everything up and came back and picked up all of her containers and candle holders, etc., which was so awesome to not have to stress about that the day after the wedding. Book What’s Up Buttercup and you will NOT be disappointed!!

Melissa is pure joy! She lights up the room, and her beautiful, creative spirit takes you away. She immediately started dreaming up ways to make our daughter and son in law's wedding stand out. She found a way to make everyone happy! My daughter had a gorgeous bouquet with the most stunning combination of rich, healthy purples, pinks, and whites. The compotes and tall arrangements were breathtaking. The backdrop was a showstopper. Possibly the biggest win were the floral tattoos. It's hard to describe them adequately. It brought a modern and fun feeling to the day, and the photographs are just beautiful. I hope I have another chance to work with Melissa. She feels like an old friend to me now.

n all of the changes I kept making to our original "inspiration board," and worked all the day in the 90 degree heat making sure our decor was perfect. She went above and beyond cutting up fabric we brought ourselves, setting up candles, and putting together decor outside of just the flowers. Most importantly, the flowers were stunning! Everything was exactly how I pictured it and we feel so lucky to have found What's Up Buttercup for our special day!

gh we married at the very, very end of tulip season, Melissa gave us the tulip wedding of our dreams! I was hesitant about having tall table displays, having been to more than one wedding at which I was unable to see or speak to guests across the table because of the displays. Melissa heard my concern and came up with the perfect solution--window frames full of floating tulips that people could see through! It was the most unique center piece I have ever seen and we got so many compliments on them! After we met with Melissa, we couldn't decide on how to best display our escort cards during cocktail hour. Melissa solved the problem, introducing a large hoop full of floating tulips that matched the reception displays. The hoop provided an unmatched display during cocktail hour and seamlessly transitioned to a beautiful backdrop for our cake cutting. Again, we got so many compliments on this impressive display. Melissa is a true artist with the ability to perfectly execute her vision. We are so grateful to have had her talent on display at our wedding!

are envisioning for your big day. We spent days going back and forth, perfecting all the details to my "vision board" (I went for a wine country rustic theme that she brought to life better than I could have imagined). I wanted a lot of texture, greenery everywhere, shades of purple and ivory, berries (you name it) and I got it all! Melissa goes beyond being a florist too - on top of everything she did my tablescapes with candles and hurricanes, chandelier greenery, sweetheart table decor + draping backdrop, aisle decor with rustic lanterns, arbor decor + draping backdrop, wedding cake greenery...the list goes on. This took so much off my plate, as I had just moved and was planning my wedding from Texas! Melissa's work is top quality and she dedicates a lot of time and effort into creating her works of art - my cascading bridal bouquet, for instance, was very time consuming to make but ended up being the most beautiful bouquet I have ever seen. I am so happy with everything she created for my wedding and highly recommend What's Up Buttercup for all you brides out there looking for an outstanding florist!
