Welcome to Whispertree! (formerly Bell Valley Retreat) Each year we host a small number of unforgettable weddings on 600 pristine acres in a protected watershed of oak forests and open meadows in Anderson Valley. Whispertree offers the perfect getaway destination two and a half hours from San Francisco, providing a vast nature escape that creates once-in-a-lifetime memories for couples and their guests.
Our facilities offer a blank canvas where you can design your unique wedding. There are also multiple options for staging wedding events. Our built-in, oak shaded amphitheater offers a nature-inspired site for your ceremony for up to 150 guests with valley views all around. Outdoor dinner gatherings can take place under our sailcloth pole tent or on our barn patio, and cocktails & dancing can take place in the tent, at the barn or uniquely landscaped gardens.
Your guests will enjoy exquisitely decorated gathering spaces and accommodations (for up to 55 ppl). They are invited to explore six miles of interwoven hiking trails, a dip in the pond or our 8ft hot tub, visits to the valley's award-winning, local wineries, or they can relax, connect and enjoy the views in Adirondack chairs scattered in selected areas around the land.

We celebrated our wedding at Whispertree this past August, and this place is nothing short of magical. We were planning our wedding from the opposite coast as my husband was comple...
ting his Master’s program, so we initially booked the venue without setting foot on site, which can be a nerve-wracking experience. But all of our communication with the team at Whispertree put us at ease. They were responsive to questions, shared pictures, videos, and details that helped us plan from afar, and worked with us to arrange a time to stay overnight so we could get a feel for what it would be like to be present in the space. The space is vast, but still feels cozy and welcoming. It is beautiful in both summer and winter, and at night, you can see millions of stars in the sky. Our guests who stayed on site also fell in love. Many walked the paths in the mornings, took a dip in the hot tub, or sat outside their tents to stargaze.
I know that beauty & magic aren’t everything, and a venue still has to be functional and organized to work as a wedding space. For this, I have to give one thousand accolades to our on-site coordinator, Freida. Freida has such a deep knowledge of the space & love for it, that she made every moment we spent at Whispertree feel extra special. Leading up to our wedding, she was so communicative, offering detailed answers to our venue questions, along with wonderful, local recommendations for the most delicious food. She was incredibly organized in greeting everyone as they arrived on site, and throughout the weekend made our wedding feel absolutely perfect. Waiting to start the ceremony, I realized I had left my bouquet down where we were getting ready. My maid of honor ran to Freida, and immediately Freida jumped into action. The two of them got in her golf cart, sped down to the getting ready space, grabbed the flowers, and were back in time to kick off the ceremony as if nothing had happened. The entire wedding was so seamless, I know for a fact that Freida, along with our wedding coordinator Aimée, were integral to making it happen through their excellent coordination and care for our experience. It is not a surprise that Freida also works as a Planner, and I have no doubt she would make your celebration at Whispertree as flawless as ours felt.
If you choose Whispertree as your venue, you are choosing a truly special place. We are overjoyed to have been able to share it with our loved ones for our wedding, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a venue that allows you to disconnect and fully live in the moment.

ature nooks to discover. All the accommodations were beautiful, eclectic, unique, clean and very comfortable. The staff are the best humans, so kind, attentive and helpful, they truly felt like family. We will come back year after year to celebrate our anniversary and hope to do some retreats at Whispertree as well. This is a very unique and special place in the world, don't miss your chance to experience the magic of Whispertree.

time, attention and expertise. The lodging for us and our guests was beautifully appointed, comfortable, and felt like such an integrated part of the experience. Loved our night under the sail-cloth tent and dancing in the barn!
Even a year later, we still hear from friends and family who were there with us about how special the land was as part of our celebration. And the thing I personally loved the most was that, since we chose to have most of our guests stay on-site for two and, for some, three nights, there was a such a spaciousness for everyone to slow down, really connect, and truly get to know each other.
Can't recommend it enough!

PS - If you'd like to see more reviews for this venue, prior to 2024 it was named Bell Valley Retreat. It's still the same ownership and staff.. they just changed their name. So, you might other reviews under that former name too.
I found Whispertree (formerly Bell Valley Retreat) when I was looking for a retreat/camping wedding setting for our Spring wedding. It was that and so much more! The accommodations...
exceeded all expectations-- beautiful, modern, eco-friendly, luxurious, and colorful! Our guests raved about the design and the comfort. Frida was so personable and helpful throughout the whole process; she made us feel like family. We got the best photographs because she showed us the secret spots up on the hill at golden hour! We arrived a day early to settle in and didn't want to leave on Sunday. The nature was magical-- especially our late-night bonfire under the stars after hours of dancing in the Barn. Oh yeah, and there's a hot tub! We cannot wait to return and re-visit the memories of our favorite weekend in our new favorite place. Highly recommend the venue, the staff, the vendor recommendations (especially Pilon Catering and Boontberry Farm). Zero complaints.

s nothing like it out there. It's magical when you are here, and words can't describe it. There are so many places on the property to fall in love with. The staff was so supportive throughout our planning process and even more helpful during our wedding weekend — they even went as far as dismantling the front porch when my diamond earring fell through the cracks!
Perfect is a hard word to live up to, but Whispertree is effortlessly enchanting and unique. Our wedding weekend surpassed anything that we could've imagined it to be, and we'll forever remember this place.
