I had my small wedding here and Ros did such a great job at helping me plan and put everything together. It was a beautiful day and she really helped make it perfect.
Ros was fantastic to work with at the Whistling Swan Inn. The location is beautiful and has the classic bed and breakfast feel with a lovely garden. Ros is so helpful in coordinating the smaller details and handling certain vendors (food, tents, linens). She is available to answer questions and really cares about the couple. I appreciated that we didn't feel like she tried to nickel and dime us and was willing to help in any way she could. Also the breakfast was so yummy the next day! Highly recommended for a small (up to about 50 people) wedding that is simple and lovely.
My husband and I agonized looking for the perfect venue -- one that would match who we are as people, accommodate our nearest and dearest, and keep within our budget. After much searching, I am so relieved we found Whistling Swan Inn! Ros, the proprietor, and her staff exceeded my expectations -- from start to finish, I am so pleased with how everything turned out. Long story short: If you're looking for a small venue with elegance, class, and room to house your closest friends and family, your search ends here!
Long story longer: We were immediately attracted by the house and the very reasonable packages to rent out the Inn for our event. This Victorian home includes 9 rooms, each with its own bathroom, and some even have a Jacuzzi for two! The classic and historical decor will delight the interests of all guests. PLUS! The house is so beautiful you'll need to do little more than add your knot-tying accents. The grounds are lovingly trimmed with flowerbeds -- and then you walk into the garden. With a natural wood gazebo adorning one end, a fountain flowing in the center, and a quaint bistro table opposite the gazebo, color pops at every turn. There are many personalities and much potential to this space, and my husband and I harnessed all we could. We hosted our fifty guests for the ceremony and then dinner in the space near the gazebo and set up our dance floor near the bistro table. We had our cocktail hour on the spacious veranda, where the dinner buffet was later laid out. Ros even set up a lounge area on the front lawn, and that, coupled with the mercifully air conditioned parlor inside the house, made for plenty of comfortable and leisurely gathering areas for our guests. No one felt like they were crammed together, which was highly important on this incredibly hot day.
Ros is another bonus! My family had the pleasure of staying the entire weekend, and I couldn't be more grateful to Ros for her assistance with my mother. Ros took care of her like a VIP making sure my mother was comfortable and her needs were met. As the event coordinator, within reason, she was available whenever I needed her. She was always reassuring and sufficiently persistent when necessary -- she leveled with me, and I value that. She always made sure everyone understood the game plan. The closer it got to our big day, the more I was able to lean on her with my concerns and anxieties; however, I never lost faith that we --her staff and my support system -- would be able to tackle any obstacle that may've come up. Though not a devoted wedding venue, Ros has the ability to provide much of the materials necessary to furnish the dinner service: tables, chairs, linens, etc. She conducted her day-of responsibilities without breaking her stride -- that I'm aware of, and I prefer it that way -- leaving my husband and I to thoroughly enjoy our day, our guests, and our marry-ment. :) In case you can't tell, I am so thrilled to have been married at the Whistling Swan Inn, that I almost wish I could do it again...almost, lol.
Liz and her staff were wonderful to work with. From the beginning of the day until the end, they were attentive and saw to every detail. They gave me exactly what I wanted--a beautiful, intimate country wedding.
