Once we had decided on a location for our wedding, we knew there was no other place to have our reception than at the White Elephant on Nantucket. From the very beginning of our wedding planning process, everyone there was so communicative and ready to help us with anything we needed. For our reception and the duration of our stay there, we and our guests were treated like royalty, and we received so many compliments from our guests about how fantastic the servers, bartenders, coordinator, and management were there. Would highly, highly recommend them to anyone getting married on Nantucket!!
The White Elephant provides a breathtaking, picturesque backdrop for any wedding, surrounded by superior service - undeniable. With this being said, I was married there this past summer and it has left a very sour taste. Three specific items to mention:
1) Our cake was served before we cut it.
2) The wine, for which we were paying by the bottle, was being served so freely that my 12 year old cousins had full glasses, and those who had moved onto other drinks were still being poured. It was being poured without asking, and thus significantly increasing the bill. Many of our guests noticed and questioned it, mentioning later. We felt like we had been taken advantage of.
3) Lastly and most importantly, a wedding is a large expense with many bills going in and out. It is not an occasion for surprises. After the wedding was over, with receipts for all payments, and being told the balance was clear, my parents received a $10,000 charge 5-6 months LATER on a credit card that was NOT APPROVED for the transaction, with NO warning. There had been an accounting error on their end and one of the payments had not been processed, even though we received a receipt.
As I mentioned, nothing can beat the scenery at the White Elephant. It is exquisite. We also thoroughly enjoyed our tasting experience which was a real treat and an 'experience'. The food was great. The staff was amazing.
There were many positives hosting it at the White Elephant, but I did feel that the issues that did arise were significant and inexcusable for a venue of that stature. Despite the beautiful setting and my true love of the White Elephant, it had left me with mixed feelings.
Recently married 10.6.18, we could not have asked for a more perfect venue than The White Elephant Hotel. Not only was the venue stunning with views overseeing the Nantucket Harbor, the staff was so kind, helpful, organized and professional that we never worried about anything. We worked with Brittani directly and she made our day PERFECT. She never made us feel as if we were asking dumb questions, she promptly answered all my ridiculous email, calls and always left us feeling so confident in our choice of venue.
The White Elephant took care of everything. Chairs, tables, organizing all the deliveries and setting up the day of including ceremony, cake, flowers, DJ etc. We never worried about one thing the days leading up to the wedding and the day of. Brittani was so organized and had such a wonderful staff that we actually didn't realize until the next morning that we had left the gifts, shoes, coats, phones and everything else downstairs to which we found out that morning they placed everything in our room as we continued to party at the Chicken Box.
THE FOOD: Spectacular. We went up for a weekend to taste the food and wine and loved that they had a sommelier to help. We never would have paired these wines with the magnificent food. We had a budget in mind and Brittani continuously gave us options always working with us never dictating which made the experience so enjoyable. The White Elephant printed our menus which is one less thing to worry about but have never heard so many compliments about food at a wedding.
We have never been happier with our decision. The White Elephant made our day magical and gave us the most amazing memories :) We were so lucky to work with Brittani and her team. Nothing but happiness comes to mind when thinking about having our wedding at the White Elephant. xo.
We were married at the White Elephant this Fall and I cannot speak highly enough about our experience both on the weekend of our wedding and throughout the year of planning. The venue is beautiful and Kelly and Brittani worked closely with us throughout our planning process. Brittani and Kelly also helped to seamlessly coordinate my beautiful bridal luncheon at the Wauwinet and Sunday brunch at the White Elephant. We loved our whole wedding weekend and are so appreciate of all the help from Nantucket Island Resorts!
We had our amazing wedding at the White Elephant Hotel this past summer and it was everything could have ever wanted! Brittani helped us plan, coordinate and manage every detail of our wedding from start to finish. She also helped us think and work on all those little details we wouldn't have thought of or known about. We had both our ceremony (on the lawn) and reception (at the Brandt Point Grill) and both were everything we dreamed of and more. The attention to detail, service and coordination with our vendors was impeccable. The food and service level throughout the whole event was amazing (as expected). Our experience was beyond 5-stars and we couldn't be happier with our choice of the White Elephant. I would without hesitation book this venue if you can get it!
Picking our wedding venue was quite honestly the biggest decision we have ever had to make as a couple up to this point in our relationship. There were so many factors and so many things to consider. We both work in sales roles and are customer facing so, the overall serviceability from a venue could not have been more important to us.
We only visited one venue and felt we did not need to visit anymore as we knew this was the one. The White Elephant staff could not have been more friendly, inviting, and comforting. Along with accommodating, patient, and truly excited for our big day. They made us feel special from the first day we met them to 14 months later during our wedding weekend. Never hesitating to help us when we had a problem, or celebrate with us for something exciting, like a job promotion for my husband. A couple of examples stand out in my mind over the last year: Brittani calling to just check in and say hello to see how our relocation went after my husband was relocated for work in January; or Kelly sending us a Christmas gift for our new home and her true happiness for me when I got an award at work. These individuals became friends, and made us feel they truly cared about us and our lives, not just our wedding. Not to mention, they manage one of the most spectacular hotels on island, or anywhere for that matter. The views are stunning, the ambiance is perfectly Nantucket, the rooms are gorgeous, and the beds are some of the most comfortable we have ever slept in!
It is because of all these factors, we chose to do an exclusive wedding weekend buyout and have 140 of our 175 guests stay at the White Elephant Friday to Sunday. We trusted this team, and knew our money was going to a good place for an ultimately amazing weekend.
From Kelly in sales, to Brittani in event coordinating, to Bettina in hotel management, to Mark in Food and Beverage management, to Makenzie and Allison at the front desk- everyone could not have been more welcoming, helpful, and friendly. They all basically became apart of our family, not because they felt they needed to, but because they all truly love what they do and it shows in their teamwork and work ethic.
As a bride you work hard throughout the year to make everything perfect for not only yourself and your future husband but, also your guests. I wanted everyone to walk away having as much fun as we did as the Bride and Groom. After the wedding, while at our farewell brunch, I listened to guests experiences and the one thing that could have been shouted from the rooftops, is how AMAZING the staff was all weekend. We cannot take credit for this level of service seen by every guest, but, we definitely could not be happier with our decision to choose the White Elephant as not only our wedding venue, but our now home away from home. I honestly could go on, and on about how amazing this venue and hotel are, but this post will only allow 3,000 characters so, I must stop here. :)
If you are considering Nantucket as your wedding location, reach out to the White Elephant. I promise you will not be disappointed!
Thank you Khaled, Kelly, Brittani, Mark, Bettina, Makenzie, and Allison! You all are amazing! Keep doing what you are doing, because what you are doing truly works and makes all the difference!
Love,
Kerri and Patrick

Beautiful place for an elegant and classy Nantucket Wedding. I recently photographed a wedding here and fell in love with everything about the White Elephant. A dream venue for my future wedding.
The White Elephant Hotel was the venue for my July 31 wedding. It was AMAZING!
Top of the line service from my first meeting at this venue to my tasting to my wedding.
Mark was a joy to work with and really helped us put together a menu that truly reflected our tastes and one that our guests would never forget. Our guests were amazed at the food that was served during our cocktail hour and reception. It was all they could talk about for days. The food was fantastic at the tasting and even tastier on our wedding day.
The grounds are simply beautiful. Very little decoration was needed for our ceremony.
Even more amazing was the service. The staff did everything with a smile and made us feel so welcomed.
At the White Elephant Hotel, you don't just get a spectacular view, you get exceptional service and delicious food!
I'm so happy we chose this venue for our wedding day.
One month ago, my husband and I were married on Nantucket. From the minute we got engagement, we knew this was the destination, but finding the venue was the hard part. There are many beautiful places on Nantucket, however I confidently say, after much deliberation, we made the right choice. We had the entire hotel for all of our friends and family to stay at and celebrated from Friday night through Sunday brunch and each event exceed my expectations.
Throughout the course of the weekend, the level of service to not just us, but to every single guest went above and beyond. They treated every person as if it was thier big day as well, and ultimately that meant so much in terms of creating a really intimate and special feel for the weekend. In terms of the venue physically - spectacular setting. I mean, just Nantucket in a nutshell. We used all different areas of the property from the spa lawn for a Welcome Party under a tent, to the Lawn for cocktails and finally the Terrace for the reception and farewell brunch. The staff, especially Mark and Bettina, did such an excellent job in translating my vision and executing three outstanding events, each one having a distinct and different feel despite being in the same place. Our guests, even one month after the wedding, continue to rave about the amazing food at every meal, the most comfortable beds in the world, the prettiest harbor views and most importantly, how they were treated when they were at the White Elephant. It was a true vacation for all and I could not have been happier with the outcome!!!
My daughter was married at The White Elephant hotel and it was absolutely beautiful. We overlooked the beach where my daughter spent many summers. From the breathtaking view to the Nantucket atmosphere we were so pleased. The service was great and the raw bar in a boat is a must! Everyone was so accommodating and made it a wedding of a lifetime!
Chris and I spent time in Nantucket for three summers in a row and after we got engaged, I knew we would have our dream wedding on the island surrounded by beautiful water and hydrangea. Being from Manhattan and planning the wedding remotely, it took us a single email with Kelly from the sales dept. to secure plans at the White Elephant. During our pre-wedding visits in January & April, Mark, the event coordinator, was more than accommodating in showing us the location, giving us the inside scoop on local vendors and helping us work through every last detail – even down to selecting lemon or cucumber in the water ;)
Our wedding weekend was straight out of a storybook/movie. Everything went so smoothly, the WE hotel with harbor backdrop was gorgeous, people told us it was the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding, the staff was so sweet & helpful and we had amazing weather - we couldn't ask for anything more! When we return to the island we will definitely stay at the WE as it will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
We had our wedding reception at the White Elephant on Nantucket. It was amazing. They did such a fantastic job. The food, service, and atmosphere was great. No complaints!
Perfect views, convenient hotel right in town, and mouthwatering food, all spectacularly choreographed. A perfect day at a perfect place.
