Located in the heart of Downtown, this state park features 15 different outdoor spaces for you to design your dream day. You and your partner will have a variety of backdrops to choose from for your ceremony and reception, from the tranquil river view to the cityscape.
Famously known as Indiana's only urban state park, White River State Park features over 250 acres of lush, diverse land for visitors to enjoy. The different onsite venues can host a variety of celebrations, from romantic elopements to large receptions with over 500 guests. One of their more popular wedding locations is the Old Washington Street Bridge. You and your partner can exchange your vows with the White River or the city skyline as your eye-catching backdrop. Sculptures made by local artists stand proudly on the bridge for a modern, eclectic atmosphere. For covered seating, the Waterfront Pavilion features two open patios to accommodate up to 100 people. Soon-to-be-weds who prefer a more lush setting will be welcome to use the Promenade Amphitheater. Flourishing trees surround the space for plenty of privacy, while terraced limestone provides elevated seating for up to 250 attendees.
White River State Park has an open vendor policy, giving you the freedom to select any florists, caterers, or event planners to create your dream day. You will have an extensive list of setting to choose from for your first looks and photo sessions. In addition to your big day, you will also be welcome to host your prenuptial events, from your engagement party to your rehearsal dinner.

ld our reception at the NCAA museum; which is inside the state park. They gave us options for chair rentals and my coordinator at the NCAA coordinated the rentals.
The location was right on the water. The guests faced the White River and the pedestrian bridge; it was so gorgeous! We received so many compliments and we had strangers sign our guest book who were simply walking by. We also had strangers gather on the pedestrian bridge to watch the ceremony.
Overall, I would recommend this location in White River State Park. It worked well for us because our reception was inside the park which eliminated transportation for our guests. We also had our guests stay at the JW Marriot which is two blocks away. Having everything in one central location was important to us.
Communication was the park was difficult. I worked with two or three different contacts. Plus, the contacts work for Verizon, not the state park so it was hard to coordinate and distinguish between the two. A week before the wedding they went through more transition and it was stressful knowing that we didn't have a contact person, however, they corrected the issue and our wedding went on without a problem!
I recommend Celebration Plaza Amphitheater for an outside ceremony. Ours was fantastic (held in August).
