My husband and I didn't hire White Sands to do our wedding video. They were unknowingly subcontracted by our original vendor without our knowledge. (That's a whole other story...) We were very disappointed for a number of reasons with our weddi...ng video, which in part was out of White Sands's control. However, the elements that were within their control the day of our wedding were handled very poorly. They came unprepared to provide audio for our video. The claim from White Sands was that they were only subcontracted to do video and not audio. That was a poor excuse to me and my husband as it seems natural that the two would go together. When no one from our original video vendor showed up to assist them with audio it should've been obvious that they needed to step in and make arrangements to capture sound. Instead they filmed our ceremony with no sound except for what their video cameras could pick up over the PA system in the church sanctuary. So we have no recordings of our voices as we said our vows and exchanged rings. They lacked common sense with the shots of our ceremony too. The church where we had our ceremony had strict rules for where photographers/videographers could be located. I told them their best bet was in the balcony where we knew there would be no guests seated. They set up video from the balcony, but instead of centering themselves on the aisle and therefore the service they were off to the side and captured an awkward view. We asked for a simple shot. We didn't care for up close or to zoom in on the ceremony. Literally all they had to do was center up the shot and they didn't do it. Despite the last minute hire by our original vendor we communicated in detail to White Sands the day before the wedding our vision and expectation for the video footage. We were assured that the shots we requested would be captured. Fast forward three months and when the raw footage was delivered to us we had none of the sentimental shots we wanted. We specifically asked for no video of our formal portraits and to instead go to the cocktail hour and do interviews with guests. They did the opposite. When we confronted White Sands after these experiences we were told that they had to conform to what the original vendor had asked them to do in their contract. I asked why they listened to the misinformation from our original vendor instead of the specific instruction given by the bride and groom the day before and we were told that they had "a clear conscience between them and God". Essentially they admitted that they didn't do right by us, but were in line with their contract. (They never provided us a copy of this contract.) So this somehow justified their failure to do as we wished on our wedding day. My husband and best friend heard every word of our conversation as I had the owner of the company on speaker as we discussed these issues. I have witnesses that can attest to my stern yet calm and fair behavior, but the owner was so offended that I was honest about their service that he lashed out at me. He spoke over me and said I had no right to criticize him as he was married and a father, which therefore made him a good man and abdicated him of any wrongdoing. Finally, wedding video is a new service for this company and they don't have a lot of experience in that arena. My photographer and wedding planner were not surprised by this fact. They were very unimpressed with their communication and inability to collaborate the day of as well.
