About this vendor
Situated in Kansas City, MO, The Magnolia at Brookside is a wedding venue with mid-century architecture and a contemporary feel. Walking through the space couples will find elements from the past, with details reminiscent of Art Deco throughout. The design of the venue was crafted with the intention that it stands out while still being adaptable to the couple’s vision. In this locale, lovebirds can celebrate in a way that is true to them.
Deborah Whitebird-Griffith is the enthusiastic individual who owns Magnolia Events. The company encompasses two venues, The Magnolia at Brookside and Magnolia Venue & Urban Garden. She is originally from Guthrie, Oklahoma, and is a proud member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of the state. Many of her family members are known for their artistic talents and she is no exception. She carries these skills into her current business. The name for the company comes from the magnolia tree that grew outside her home in Oklahoma. These trees grow slowly, which to her represents how with patience things bloom. She believes that everyone should follow their passions, which for her has always been events and design. Deborah enjoys arranging get-togethers of all manners, from weddings to baby showers. She also carefully keeps track of trends, her design-sense proving its worth when her home was included multiple times in publications.
The Magnolia at Brookside is spacious with an airy vibe. There is a dressing room for your convenience. This also gives you and your wedding party the chance to mingle before you take your walk down the aisle. Inside, the event space spans 5,000 square feet while outside there is a 2,000 square-foot garden. Seated gatherings held in the venue can be accommodated for up to 200 while up to 160 can be in the garden for ceremonies. Wood flooring and string lights create a charming atmosphere for “I dos” and dancing alike. The details throughout the space help to make for an unforgettable wedding.

Ava was so amazing. Once she took over she had complete control and we had no stress day of. She had the entire place set and torn down and ensured our vendors were where they need...
ed to be on time. She even made sure we had some of our late night snacks to make sure we soaked up the alcohol we may have had. I could only imagine how messy it could have all gotten if she had not been there to keep the wheels on track. Loved working with her!
My husband & I got married at Magnolia at Brookside 10/16/2021. We had the BEST experience! We found this venue after looking at the downtown Magnolia - we ended up wanting somethi...
ng a little smaller & the dates that we were looking at were already booked. We immediately knew when we toured Magnolia at Brookside that we wanted to get married there! We had our ceremony in the outdoor wedding space & it was absolutely beautiful! So many of our guests commented on how much they loved the venue. Deb (the owner) is so sweet & was extremely helpful along the way. She and her team were always available when we had questions & made sure everything was perfect for our day. Everything was flawless day of & we had the absolute best time! I would absolutely recommend checking out Magnolia at Brookside if you are wanting a venue in the city!
I certainly cannot recommend Magnolia. While this is a nice venue, the management was completely inconsiderate of the event. The place was rented until midnight, last call at the...
bar came at 10:10pm. While it was specifically requested cleanup did not occur before closing, staff started at 10:30. They said they were told to do so by Magnolias management before the event started. One of the bartenders was beyond rude. The kitchen was very dirty upon arrival the morning of the event. The bride and grooms family did most, if not all, of the cleanup.
This is a nice venue with a great atmosphere. However, planning and holding a wedding reception at this venue was one irritation after another. We tried to work with Deborah, the ...
owner, and obviously we had specific questions for our planning. However, the day of the event we found the answers she gave us were completely the opposite. It happened with the provision for cups at the bar, the candles for the tables, and most irritating, what time her staff would begin to clean up.... Just FYI it’s while your guests are there and you still have almost two hours before you're supposed to be out. We were supposed to be out by midnight. They did a last call at the bar at 10:10 p.m. and the decorations on the tables were cleaned off at 10:20 p.m. When some guests returned from the dance floor to their tables their drinks had already been picked up and tossed. Also, the morning of the event when we came in to set up (at the time Deborah told us) the place was filthy!!! Be very wary of this venue. The owner is clueless!
I used M'Khila and Deb for planning my wedding at Magnolia Venue & Urban Garden. They were SO incredibly kind and professional. M'Khila had so much patience in working with my type...
-A personality and answered my 1 million questions! She kept me in the loop with all the COVID related changes and made me feel like whatever we had to do to make our wedding safe, they would be taken care of fully. Day of, M'Khila and Deb were on top of EVERYTHING! I literally didn't worry about a single thing. They kept us on schedule and coordinated effortlessly with all of our vendors. Literally, everything was absolutely perfect. THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY WEDDING A DREAM COME TRUE!

fell in love with the venue – from the modern, welcoming vibe to the beautiful lighting and outdoor space, we knew it was perfect for our day. The owner, Deborah Whitebird-Griffith, is kind, knowledgeable and with us every step of the way. She understands just how important of a day this is in a couple’s life and shares in your vision to make it all come together. The Magnolia at Brookside and their team are truly special – we would recommend them to anyone!

d pop up. They were so understanding when we had to postpone, and I'm glad we did so we could take advantage of the beautiful changes they've made to the space. This venue is perfect for couples who want to have their ceremony and reception in the same place, and they offer plenty of ceremony set-up options to choose from. We cannot say enough great things about this venue, it truly is a hidden gem in Kansas City!
