After hearing so many nightmarish tales of drama about what really happens at a wedding, I was gloriously pleased to find none of that at Whitehall. Before the wedding, Doug was super easy to communicate with and always answered my multiple emails about everything from the menu to the timeline and decorations, patiently and promptly. The staff on the day of was so attentive to everything both us and our guests could need. They put out snacks in the bridal and groom's suite prior to the ceremony and while we were taking our couple portraits, several staff members even checked in several times making sure we had water and snacks, which was much appreciated haha. One of the best parts of the venue though, is probably the food, which was absolutely delicious. We had multiple guests comment after the wedding how good everything was. They truly go above and beyond and are true professionals. We could not recommend Whitehall enough!!

Doug Armstrong was extremely accommodating, flexible and an absolute joy in helping to make this a dream wedding. He does not try to upsell anything and shows you the benefits of providing your own liquor which we did and it saved us a lot of money. The food is absolutely delicious! The staff was also amazing, friendly and very prompt with service, refilling water and clearing dishes. We took our liquor there before the rehearsal along with two corn hole games and we set up the decorations so that we didn't have to stress the day of the wedding. The staff provided the table lanterns and lit the candles for us. There are several very beautiful sites to have your outdoor wedding and for photos. There are also several areas that guests can relax on patios. I can't stress enough how Doug and his staff were helpful, caring and provided our daughter and her fiance with a memorable and gorgeous wedding.

I was continuously told that I would not get to eat at my wedding and that I shouldn't be so excited about the food, but they made it a point for me to not only have appetizers and dinner, but there were drinks waiting for the wedding party after the ceremony as well. Our 92 person head count fit perfectly with plenty of room to spare. I have been told by countless guests that it was one of the best weddings they have ever been to. Thank you Doug, for everything you did for us. Our special day, even though it had its fair shares of unrelated chaos, was perfect thanks to you.

Doug operates Whitehall and has done an amazing job of hiring great people to work their events. They were all hard working and went above and beyond in making sure our wedding was a hit. The food was delicious, everyone enjoyed their meals whether they ordered Beef/Chicken/Veggie. The people working behind the Bar were outstanding and made everything from Margaritas/Mai Tais/Bloody Mary’s. They are a well oiled machine here and fully capable of handling minor problems without direction or needing to bother the Bride/Groom. Highly recommend Whitehall as a venue and as a catering service, and can not thank Doug and his Staff enough for making our wedding a perfect day!

Things I hadn't even considered were seamlessly taken care of. Even my vendors remarked that Whitehall is one of the best venues they have ever worked with. One less thing that we had to worry about and the food was all prepared there in house! It was fantastic. The staff was extremely pleasant and clearly knew what they were doing. They even followed my husband and I with a plate of hors d'oeuvres during our family portraits to make sure that we were being fed. It was awesome! There are so many good things to say about this place. Trust me, you won't regret choosing Whitehall!

We created a custom menu, served buffet style, and everything was delicious! The waitstaff is also AMAZING! They offered me and my groom drinks and apps as soon as we got back from our ceremony. Whitehall is a huge part of the reason we had such a wonderful wedding.

It’s an incredibly spacious property with ample room day of to get ready in – both a bridal suite room and upstairs lounge area for the groomsmen – as well as plenty of space for your guests (in addition to the main reception hall, our guests took advantage of the front and back outdoor patios as well as the lawn and, for our younger guests, the upstairs kids room.) The views surrounding the property are gorgeous with the Blue Ridge Mountains in the background and many wonderful spots on the Estate itself including a small vineyard, old dairy barns, and even an old railway car (all great spots for photos!). Douglas, the owner, was our main point of contact and he made the entire planning process incredibly smooth. He was super flexible meeting with my husband and I – over Google Hangouts a few times as we were in California – and was happy to answer any questions we might have throughout the planning process. Whitehall was also wonderful to work with as our caterers and they were incredibly accommodating for the various food allergies we had; Douglas even made sure to offer us gluten-free hor d’oeuvres to samples on our first visit to Whitehall after I had advised I have celiac. The food was delicious and everything from the hor d’oeuvres to the entrees to the late-night snacks was well received by our guests! On the day of our wedding, Francisco was our point of contact and he and the team did an outstanding job and ensured we had a wonderful time! We loved the Whitehall venue and loved working with Douglas, Francisco and the entire Whitehall team!

I could not be happier with our choice to use Whitehall Manor as our wedding venue. The biggest complement from our guests was the food quality. I heard time and time again how the food was the best food they had every had at a wedding. Again, Whitehall checks all the boxes and you will be glad you chose it for your wedding.

The food was delicious and service fantastic! So many guests complimented us on an amazing venue selection. It was beautiful, comfortable and the perfect atmosphere for a great party. Whitehall had great suggested vendors. The DJ was obviously fantastic to work with! He made the day so easy. The cake was scrumptious- there were so many compliments on it. The flowers were beautiful. Everyone was easy to work with and did not add any stress to the process! All in all a perfect day and stress free planning throughout. They have the experience to know how to handle any situation with ease and grace. Yet the professionalism that made me feel at ease that they really cared and were going to make my day extra special! And they did!

The wait staff was very conscious of any specific meal requests (e.g., gluten free, allergies) when serving, prepared a table with snacks and drinks for both the bridal party and groomsmen before the ceremony, and also found us during pictures post-ceremony to see if we needed any foods/drinks - amazing service! One thing to note that due to the location, hotels are about 20-30 minutes away (so we opted to offer bus transportation for our guests), but there is a lot of parking available at the venue.

And the space is BEAUTIFUL… Then we got to our wedding day and we were completely BLOWN AWAY. A bridesmaid and a few of our guests are gluten free and so the Whitehall staff CONSTANTLY made sure there was food they could eat all throughout. They really went above and beyond! The staff was amazing and constantly offering help or beverages to guests (bonus points - they took awesome care of the bride and groom when we decided to have dinner early). We had signature cocktails and they had them ready and waiting, on trays for delivery, as soon as the ceremony was over— the wedding party and our guests loved it! Then there was the actual food during the wedding— IT WAS BETTER THAN AT OUR TASTING. People are still raving to me about the food weeks later, and these are people that I know and love for being serious food snobs. Seriously, Whitehall helped make me the most stress-free bride ever. We used a lot of their preferred vendors (they provide recommendations for seemingly every part of the wedding, and their recommended vendors work at Whitehall often) and I loved every single one of them. Everything was so seamless and perfect. I hope to never get married again— but I would return to Whitehall in heartbeat for another special occasion or party. You cannot find a more beautiful outdoor ceremony option in the NOVA area with better staff, better food, and the best reception room ever. Thank you Whitehall!

t truly is beautiful, very spacious, and very well maintained. From the beginning, Douglas and his team were professional and responsive. A few highlights that we really loved were the food (Celebrations catering based out of Whitehall is so delicious), the spacious getting ready areas for the bride and for the groom, and just the pure beauty of this estate. We had a little over 140 guests which fit comfortably with room for more. They also let you make the "rain call" only an hour before the ceremony starts- which really is amazing if your wedding is on a rainy day and you need to wait as long as possible before having to make the call. It made me feel comfortable and at ease that the Whitehall staff is very seasoned and do so many weddings per year that they know exactly what to do and are able to execute seamlessly. To be honest, this venue is pricey and not for someone who is on a tight budget, however it is well worth the cost when you see (and taste) how wonderfully your wedding day turns out! We are very happy to have picked this venue and have received nothing but compliments from our family and friends! Thank you Douglas and the Whitehall staff!

We had so many guests tell us that the staff at Whitehall went above and beyond to make sure everyone was having a great time. The staff also made sure the bridal party was taken care of before the wedding. They came to the bridal suit numerous times asking if we needed anything and making sure we were taken care of. Douglas said yes to any request we had and he lived up to every promise! From start to finish Douglas and his team was a class act.

I then had to follow up via email and phone before getting a call back and being told "they had a Saturday here and there," but he would not disclose any rental fee information over the phone. I work in events, so I completely understand that pace venues work at and availability changes frequently, but the lack of transparency regarding the pricing really rubbed me the wrong way. Why would I want to waste both my and the venue's time doing a site visit if it's not a viable option due tot he price or availability? Needless to say, due to recommendation from friends, we went to tour the property anyway. As soon as we arrived, I could tell this place was not for me. They had about four other couples touring the site at the same time and I immediately felt like this place was set up like a machine and I was merely another bride passing through. When I shared with Douglass that I work in events, he rudely told me since I work in corporate events "I would see that weddings are like a different language." Let me tell you, there was not one thing that Douglass mentioned that I did not already know and understand in terms of events. I was incredibly offended by his implication that I essentially don't know how to do my job. His entire spiel and tour was rehearsed and ridged. Each time I paused to ask a question it felt as if I was an inconvenience. I felt his demeanor towards me was incredibly condescending and demeaning. It was difficult to imagine paying $15-20k for a venue and catering (fees ranged from $3,500-8,500 depending on the date while catering minimums were $10-12k) given I had no confidence Douglass or his staff would treat me like an individual & provide the care & service I would expect.

Douglas couldn't have been any more accommodating.... he made special arrangements for us to taste the menu (and make adjustments), and have a site visit close to the wedding to ensure my fiancé was comfortable with everything we planned. They allowed several options at Whitehall that other area venues didn't -- like supplying our own alcohol for the bars, candles, sparklers, fun signage around the property, and rose petals. They helped us stay within our budget and I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. My one regret is the outside vendor we used for the wedding cake. If you're in search of a bakery for your wedding cake, stay far away from Edibles Incredible.

I received so many compliments from all of my guest. Decorating was minimal to only centerpieces since the venue is already decorated beautifully. Douglas was amazing to work with. He was very helpful, kind, responsive, and straightforward. He was always upfront as well as all of his pricing. Very kind man and I will certainly miss bugging him via email. The staff during the rehearsal dinner and wedding treated my husband and I like celebrities. 5 star service all the way. We also received many compliments from out guest about the service and how great the food was. Bottom line is... This venue is worth every reasonably priced penny. I highly recommend this venue to all brides in the area.

If you are looking for a rustic theme, they have rolling hills and even a barn in which you can pose for photos. If you are having a more classic theme, the estate itself is huge and offers many options for photos like on the porches, in front of the estate's main entrance, or indoors in front of the fireplace. Aside from photos, the venue has everything you will need. You can spend your afternoon at the estate getting ready, with your groom and his party in one part of the house and you and your party in another. The wonderfully expert staff will serve you some snacks and beverages until it is time for you to go. Oh, there is also a kid's play room upstairs which is really nice if you have little ones there in the wedding party or at the wedding later. The food was delicious. I honestly did not have one bad bite of anything. We chose a plated meal with a chicken piccata, filet mignon, and a seasonal ravioli (the ravioli was to die for, seriously the best entree). I know it wasn't just me riding the wedding high though because many of my guests commented that the food was the best "wedding food" they have ever had. It makes perfect sense when you consider that the folks who run Whitehall started as a catering company. Finally, the staff and service throughout the whole wedding planning process was amazing. We could not ask for anything more. Our point person, Douglas, was responsive, helpful, and so accommodating. We appreciated his directness but also his ability to help us keep costs within our budget. He told us up front that they could purchase and serve alcohol but it could be much cheaper if we did that part on our own, which we did and it was. He also made recommendations on vendors and timelines. He was also helpful with the rehearsal which is something they don't really get involved with, but they can offer some advice as far as timing and whatnot. The icing on the cake was the staff on the day-of. Again, I had many people approach me afterwards to tell me how impressed they were with the service. Francisco was the captain and he was patient and offered the kind of service you expect at five star luxury resort. He said to my mother that he has been doing this for over ten years and it is his job to think of everything, especially the things no one else is thinking about. One example would be that it was colder than we had expected/hoped on our wedding day, but we still wanted to get pictures outside. Francisco and his staff had an assortment of hot beverages waiting for us when we came in. They saved us a plate of appetizers as well as a cocktail for when we came in. They managed the set up and helped with the clean up too. They really did think of everything, and they made our special day truly perfect. I would recommend this place to anyone.

The venue is BEAUTIFUL, ROMANTIC, and CLASSIC. 2. I loved that we would have the whole property to ourselves for the whole day, including beautiful rooms for the bridal party and groomsmen to get ready (separately), and we would not be rushed out for another wedding before or after us. There were also many different rooms/coves/balconies/decks where people could go, instead of some of the other venues I went to see that had EVERYTHING in one big room. 3. The bride and groom can decide on THE DAY OF THE WEDDING whether they would like to have the ceremony INSIDE OR OUTSIDE, depending on weather. This was VERY important to me, (and unique!) since I really wanted to be outside for the ceremony but did not want the stress of having to deal with bad weather. 4. The staff (I worked mostly with Doug, but they are all excellent) KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING. THEY ARE EXPERTS. Throughout the year, I had many phone calls with Doug, many of which HE INITIATIED to make sure we were on track with the planning and not forgetting any of the details. He made himself very available and had great tips on selecting vendors (what questions to ask, who to use, etc.), the ‘flow’ of the wedding, and gave great ideas for decorations that he has seen at the MANY weddings they’ve hosted there in the past. It was such a load off of the planning that they provide the venue, the catering, the staff, bartenders (but not the alcohol, which you can easily buy at wholesale price instead anyway, and not the dessert), linens, and more. Note that the catering (everything included except alcohol and cake) is about $100 per person, which brings the price up quite a bit, but it is definitely worth it, and the food is delicious – got lots of compliments. YOU CAN’T GO WRONG IF YOU HAVE YOUR WEDDING AT WHITEHALL! Plus, the photos will turn out beautifully! GOOD LUCK!

He responded to every email in a timely and complete way, no matter how silly the question. He was also incredibly accommodating when my husband and I asked if we could have our engagement photos taken at Whitehall. His recommended vendor list is worth its weight in gold - every vendor selection we made based on that list gave us incredible service and value. When we arrived at Whitehall after our church wedding, the grounds looked absolutely stunning. Our guests kept asking us how we had found such a perfect location. The manager on staff introduced himself to us at the beginning of the night and was very attentive, even bringing my husband an extra plate of appetizers to our table when he said how much he had liked them. The food was even better than at our group tasting, and the bar service was excellent. At the end of the night, everything was packed incredibly quickly and efficiently. My parents couldn't believe that they even sent us home with boxed up leftovers of the (delicious) food. Overall, a wonderful venue which deserves every compliment. Our wedding reception was perfect and Whitehall was the perfect place to have it.

Douglas is great and very patient with all the questions you can dream up and so flexible with what he can help you with. I have nothing but the best comments from all my guests about the mansion, food and staff that made my day so incredibly easy. ate. Douglas the owner, was EXTREMELY flexible and very prompt with response with any questions I had. He also provided very helpful trusted vendor lists and guided us through every step. As our wedding day approached I emailed him almost every day and every day he emailed me right back with an answer and his door was always open. The food was also amazing, our guest commented on how delicious dinner was! I would recommend this venue to any and everyone-we had the most incredible wedding and this venue is very great about working with you as best they can. :) We had a wonderful experience, thank you Whitehall! :)
