I think it's important to understand that this client's wedding took place at 3:30 in the afternoon. The weather was indeed beautiful; however, the light at 3:30PM is far from being the "golden hour" light that is so conducive to beautiful ceremony images. Second, it's important to understand that the ceremony itself took place on a balcony in the shade with the sunny sky as the background. From the vantage point of the seated guests, it was not possible to see the hills. Only the very tops of the buildings were visible. Because of the differential in light between the shade of the ceremony and the background of the bright sky, without using large off-camera flashes that would have been intrusive to this intimate occasion, we had to make the choice between exposing for the subject (the ceremony) and the background (the sky and tops of buildings). As a result, the backgrounds are quite bright; however, the ceremony is perfectly exposed. The situation was similar for many of the outdoor group photos. In contrast to this client's statement that we "had the opportunity to position [them] in [our] favor yet never made the suggestion," we did in fact make multiple suggestions for other locations for the group photos both before and after the ceremony. The client's preference and family's objections to walking down stairs prevented repositioning the client to a location with more even light. As to the statement "in a few pictures, you can't even make out my husband's entire face, and in others, you can't see the detail of my dress," this is not something the client ever mentioned to us, and in reviewing the images, we cannot find any for which this is true. As a courtesy to this client, we re-edited nearly 30 images using detailed retouching techniques for which we typically charge $50/image. Those edits were provided at no cost. At that time, we re-edited all the images the client requested. After providing these images, the client asked for edits of additional images that far exceeded the number in the initial request. Editing many of the images requested the second time would have forced us to compromise the style for which our studio is known. As a professional photography studio, our style is our reputation. Releasing images that do not meet our own standards can be extremely detrimental. Asking our studio to change our style in order to meet a client's preferences is akin to asking a woodworker to mold with clay - they may be able to do it, but it is not what they do. Before this client booked us, they were able to view our galleries and blog posts and see that our style of photography does not include HDR-type images (often surreal-looking photos that blend multiple images in order to expose for all variances in light). In the end, we are extremely proud of the images that we provided this client. As we said in the beginning of this response, we would welcome anyone who is interested to view the blog post of their wedding.

We are photojournalists, and as such, we take a documentary approach and don't do much posing except for the group photos of our clients' family and their wedding party. 3 - Our contract with our wedding clients states that we will deliver images within 6 weeks of their wedding date.
