Widad's Couture Alterations

Widad is amazing! You will not find a better tailor for your wedding dress in Houston. She is so knowledgeable and precise, and I loved working with her. I got my dress hemmed and added a bustle, and the whole process took about two months (three total fittings). At the last fitting, Widad was kind enough to practice bustling the dress with my mom several times, and she even filmed a video for us to use on the wedding day in case we had any issues (we didn’t!). The tailoring was immaculate – I got so many compliments on how well the dress fit! Her prices are on the expensive side, but it’s totally worth it for her experience and the quality of her work.

Widad is incredibly talented. She listened to exactly what my daughter wanted, while at the same time giving her wonderful advice. She finished in a timely manner & the dress is more lovely than we could have ever imagined. We feel so blessed to have found her.

Took my dress from David's Bridal to Widad, and she was great. She took a standard, strapless dress and made it into a gorgeous tea length, off the shoulder gown. I loved it! She was willing to work with me even after I changed my mind on the length after my (supposed to be) last fitting. She can be a bit abrupt in her manner, so that takes some getting used to. But the work speaks for itself.

Ms. Widad did an excellent job on my dress. She was recommended by my bridal salon, Brickhouse Bridal. I had a Martina Liana 100% silk gown with ruching on the bodice. She was able to take in a very structured gown and make it fit like a glove. I also liked how she designed the bustle. It made it flow so elegantly and was also very practical for our first dance (which included lots of spins and even a lift). A lot of reviews do mention she is priced on the higher side; but, as a one-woman show, I understand. Her location is a non-descript duplex near the medical center, but once you go inside, you can tell she does high-end work. She is professional and very experienced. I wouldn't trust such an important process to just anyone (honestly, I was scared off by reviews of other vendors who botched other bride's dresses). Widad has the expertise and, for the work and the peace of mind, is worth the cost.

Widad does absolutely the best wedding dress alterations in Houston. She makes sure the bustle is perfect and makes sure to teach you how to utilize the bustle. She triple checks everything and makes sure you’ll look your best on your big day!

Great experience working with Widad. She was able to alter my dress perfectly. I had a very detailed wedding dress with lots of beading, lace, scalloped bottom etc. She was able to take it in and shorten the length while still looking exactly like the dress I bought but now it fit me perfectly!

On top of all of her beautiful work, she had a piece of lace which matched my top-half perfectly, and when I noticed a small gap in the pattern from the removal of a belt, Widad added the lace to blend seamlessly in with the dress. 5 stars!!!

It was recommended to me by the dress boutique to contact Widad for alterations and holy cow, what a recommendation it was! I'm in awe of her talent! She has such an eye for detail and what she did to my bustle was out of this world. She even offered to hang onto my dress for me until the day before the wedding so that she could have it pressed and ready to go. Widad did a great job with my dress alteration! She was nice, professional, and quick. Her address is a house, so it looks a little sketchy, but inside, she has made it look like a bridal dressing room, and it looks beautiful. The place is clean and Widad is always willing to make adjustments! Payment was reasonable and it was easy to make payments.

Do not go anywhere else!!! WIDAD IS AMAZING!!! She cares about YOU, your happiness, and your dress. She does such incredible work and her only goal is to make you as happy as possible. It was obvious that I was not just a way to make money for her. This is her passion, and she really cares about her brides. I originally went to another alterations shop, but they ended up almost ruining my dress in several places and told me they could not fix other issues. I won't go in to the details, but I called Widad (while crying inside the other alterations shop) and she told me I could come right over. It took a lot of work and a lot of her time (even though we had only a few weeks until the wedding). It took several appointments to fix all of the issues the other shop had created and Widad always made me feel welcome and comforted me that all would be okay. I was utterly devastated when the other shop ruined my dress (thought I would need to get a new one), and Widad worked a MIRACLE. She made it look absolutely beautiful!! I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about her. She does all the work herself. I originally went to the other shop because of pricing, but cost more in the end to get all the issues fixed. Every. single. penny. you will pay Widad will be more than worth it! For such an important aspect of your big day, Widad is the one you should trust!

Widad was fantastic!! She was so accommodating regarding scheduling fittings and time needed for alterations. She was literally the only tailor who was honest about my initial dress vision and explained why it likely would not work- I had been to 3 other area consults prior who all just wrote down what I wanted and said nothing. I appreciated her honesty and ultimately it likely saved my dress! She did an amazing job and I will never take another important or detailed garmet to anyone else!!! If you’re a bride, use her!!! Not to mention my entire alteration cost was $280! She’s fair and very reasonably priced.

Widad altered my wedding dress and it turned out amazing!! She is so sweet and very talented!! When I first picked up my dress it was a little tight on the hips, but by the time she was finished with it, it fit like a glove! I danced all night long on my wedding night and felt so comfortable in my dress. She added 12 buttons for my bustle (because my dress had a long train) and it turned out beautiful. Totally recommend her work!!

My bridal salon recommended Widad for alterations and I'm so glad they sent me her way. I did not get any other quotes, so I'm not sure how her pricing compares, but, yes, I'm sure she's expensive, but also really worth it. To me, if you are going to spend all this money on a gown, it would make sense to have it fit perfectly and Widad will definitely see to that! I originally gained weight after purchasing my dress and Widad was able to take it out a bit, and then I lost weight before my final fitting a week out from the wedding, and she made last minute tucks to have it fit like a dream. Her bustle work was also just beautiful. She is extremely talented at what she does!

Words cannot describe how amazing and sweet Widad is. I honestly would not have trusted my dress with anyone else. My dress is all lace with a rather large train. She took in several inches from my waist and created a beautiful 23 point bustle for my train. Widad is not cheap, but oh my gosh she is so so SO worth every penny.

Widad is incredibly sweet and reassuring! She took the dress of this anxious bride and turned it back into the dress that made me feel like a rockstar. My dress was ordered too large by 2 sizes and she worked her magic to make it fit like a glove, all while paying close attention to the detailed lace. This was really important to me since we payed so much for the gown. She was competitively priced and very kind. She was also amazing in making sure my bustle was sturdy enough to not rip the dress. She does amazing work and I'm thankful our wedding planners suggested her.

I cannot say enough great things about Widad. She is a miracle worker but she is also straight forward and honest about what can be done and what cannot be done. If the alteration is possible, she can do it. If she says it cannot be done, IT CANNOT BE DONE. Know this: she is in high demand (for a reason!) and so you need to contact her several months before you need your dress, be it for the wedding or portraits. You will not be disappointed with her work! She's amazing!

Widad is a gem. She is very skilled and passionate about her work. I knew my dress would be in good hands. She adjusted the hem and made a beautiful bustle. In addition, she made a few other minor revisions to make sure my dress was perfect.

Widad is wonderful to work with. She is such a professional and knows exactly what she is talking about. She's been doing this for years and really is an expert in her craft! She even takes the time to show whomever you bring in with you when you pick up your dress how to do the bustle and hem - and works with them till they get it right. The hem was the perfect length and the bustle looked adorable. It is on the expensive side, but never once did I worry about my dress while it was in Widad's care.

I am so thankful and blessed that I found Widad to alter my wedding dress. After unsatisfactory experiences with other alteration places in town for bridesmaids dresses, I was a little anxious about the entire experience. However, after my initial consultation with Widad, I knew I had found the perfect person to trust with my alterations. Just a few wonderful things I could say about my experience: I appreciated her attention to all of the details of my dress. I felt as if I could trust her professional opinion. I never felt rushed, she always took the time to listen to what I wanted, and always made sure I was comfortable. She took the time to pin up/show me all of the different ways I could bustle my dress. She even showed me less traditional bustles that I did not expect (and which I ultimately ended up selecting). I never had anxiety over the outcome of my dress. My dress was perfect for my wedding day, could not have asked for a better outcome/experience!! Make sure you make your appointment early, it sounds as if she gets busy during wedding season. She had a good range of appointment times to work with, so I was thankful I did not need to miss work to go to a fitting. I had the best experience with Widad! Everything was so easy and I never had any worries about my dress being on time or perfect. We had to take in 2 inches on each side on the top and additional inches in the waist. I thought for sure it was going to cost me a small fortune, but it didn't and my dress fit perfectly. I fell in love with a gorgeous dress from MIA Bridal Couture. The dress was strapless and felt a little too exposed on the top. The ladies at MIA suggested I buy some extra fabric & visit Widad. It was the best decision I made throughout the entire wedding process. Not only were the alterations done quickly (I had a short engagement!), but they were done perfectly. I absolutely enjoyed working with Widad's Couture! From start to finish, Widad took care and attention to every detail. She wanted to make sure that I not only looked my best in my dress, but that I was comfortable as well... Not having to tug and adjust my dress while wearing. She was also accommodating to my schedule and a pleasure to work with during our time. In the end, my dress fit me perfectly!! Widad is amazing! This was my second experience working with her, but my first as a bride. I met Widad about a year ago when I attended my sister-in-law's dress fittings and I could tell that Widad was extremely detail oriented. She is so personable and friendly. I loved both times that I was there and appreciated that she took extra time to make sure that I knew how to properly bustle the dress for my sister-in-law's wedding. Fast forward a year and I became the bride-to-be. I bought my dress in Atlanta at Bridal's By Lori (featured on TLC Say Yes To The Dress: Atlanta), but I needed to get it altered in Houston where the wedding would take place. I was fortunate enough to purchase my dress during a Rivini trunk show and got to personally work with Rivini's Fashion Director. I told him I needed alterations done in Houston and asked if he had any recommendations. He recommended Widad. I knew it was meant to be since I had already met her before. I still did my due diligence and took my dress to three other alterations places before my appointment with Widad, but I am SO glad that I decided to use her. Widad took my dress that came in too big and made it fit like a glove. It was absolutely perfect! She also perfected my mom's dress by adding some detailing. She was extremely flexible in scheduling appointments that would work with my schedule since I live out of town and went above and beyond to make sure that everything was perfect and on schedule. She even stayed the night at her boutique during some icy weather to make sure that she would be there for her appointments the next day if client's decided to come in town. My dress and my mom's dress (and one of my bridesmaids and the mother-of-the-groom) turned out fantastic. I would recommended Widad to anybody who needs alterations in Houston!

Widad did the alterations for my wedding dress this summer. I had a short period of time to get everything completed and she fit me into her schedule and assured me that everything would be completed on time. From the 1st fitting, I felt comfortable with her and was confident that she would do a fabulous job. She made a custom veil for me as well and it was perfect. Widad altered my grandmother's wedding dress from 1957 for my wedding. The dress wouldn't even zip up halfway and was about an inch too short on me. We didn't know what could be done because the dress was so old and the lace on the dress isn't made anymore, but Widad fixed all our problems and more! She is a creative genius and an absolute pleasure to work with. I have no doubt she is the best in Houston when it comes to wedding dress alterations, especially for vintage gowns.
