William Mason House is a breathtaking wedding venue in Thompson Hill, CT, situated among the rolling hills of picturesque backdrops. Built by mill owner William H. Mason around 1845, this venue is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Connecticut. After being abandoned for decades, the historic estate of William Mason House was privately acquired in 2019, now restored to its former glory with love and care. While elements of the house's history are honored, it now incorporates a variety of newer, more modern features, bringing the atmosphere of a bygone era to the twenty-first century. Atop the original 1845 mahogany staircase lie period-themed guest rooms. Each space has been restored with antique reproductions and furnishings, 19th-century lighting, marble en suite bathrooms, gas fireplaces, and glamorous contemporary comforts. These luxurious rooms are ideal for overnight guests or nearlyweds and their wedding parties to avail of in preparation for the day, topped off with a glass of champagne. Each room includes complimentary refreshments, a-la-carte continental breakfast, plush comfort wear, fine linens, central air, heat control, and more.
William Mason House provides the most incredible photo opportunities, with luscious green landscapes and romantic gardens. With original glass windows, arched ceilings, gilded chandeliers, period art, and historical fineries, the house itself offers beautiful photo backdrops. ng and Kelly intentionally and thoughtfully work through every detail. Many of my guests said it was the best venue they have ever been to for a wedding. The food is incredible too. My husband and I have not one negative thing to say about WMH. If you are thinking of it, stop thinking and just book it! It will be the best decision you make for your wedding and even just for a stay.

The venue itself is absolutely breathtaking, both inside and out. Every corner feels magical, from the stunning architecture and décor indoors to the beautiful outdoor scenery that made for the most incredible photos. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about how gorgeous everything was!
I can’t thank the William Mason House team enough for making our wedding day everything I dreamed of and more. If you’re looking for a venue that combines beauty, professionalism, and heart, this is the place.

Kelly, the owner, was an absolute dream to work with. She guided us through the planning process with patience and care, was always available for questions, and has such a wonderful eye for detail—she truly brought our daughter’s vision to life.
One of the things we loved most was the “one-stop shop” aspect of the venue. The Mason House offers luxurious guest rooms, and The Villa, a very short distance away, provided additional accommodations if needed. The spa was wonderful to have the morning of the wedding—we brought in our own hair and makeup artists, and having that serene space on such a busy morning made all the difference.The property itself is breathtaking. We had perfect weather for cocktail hour on the veranda, overlooking the perfectly manicured grounds and stunning water fountain where our daughter and her husband exchanged private vows. The reception took place in a beautifully appointed tent that felt nothing like a tent at all—it was transformed into a magical space with flowing ceiling drapes, sparkling crystal chandeliers and perfectly placed tables.
The food was exceptional, customized to our preferences, and our guests raved about it. From the moment we arrived to the morning we left, the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. Truly, the only things we had to provide ourselves were a DJ, wedding party flowers, photographer/videographer, and hair and makeup—exactly how we preferred it.
If you’re looking for a romantic Victorian-style estate in a charming small town, with all the amenities you could possibly need and very reasonable pricing, you must visit The William Mason House. It was everything we dreamed of—and more.

Upon arriving, we were immediately enveloped in an atmosphere of elegance. Every inch of the venue exuded class, from the beautifully appointed rooms to the stunning reception tent. You could tell that no detail was overlooked, and that commitment to excellence was evident throughout our entire wedding weekend.
The food? Absolutely exquisite! Each dish was crafted with care and creativity, leaving our guests raving about the culinary experience long after the celebration. The presentation was top-notch, too—every plate looked like a work of art that tasted just as divine.
But what truly sets William Mason House apart is the incredible staff, and especially the dynamic mother-daughter duo, Kelly and Channing. These two are absolute gems! They provided unwavering support throughout the planning process, guiding us every step of the way. Their attention to detail and ability to anticipate our needs made the whole experience seamless and enjoyable. It truly felt like we were in the hands of experts who genuinely cared about making our day perfect.

r first walk through inside of the William Mason House, my husband and I both could not believe the attention to detail in every corner of the venue. From the beautiful decor to the ceilings that left us both speechless- there is truly no wedding venue like this one. As a bride planning a wedding on her own, the decor and natural beauty that came with the venue was truly a lifesaver. I did not have to worry about purchasing and planning additional decor which saved time, money, and stress.
One of the other reasons we chose this venue is the way the staff was able to take whatever “dream” we’ve had of our wedding day and make it a reality. The staff here was attentive, accommodating, caring, and truly treated my husband, myself, and all of our guests like family. Without the help of Kelly, Lisa, Channing, Evan, and the rest of the William Mason House Staff, our wedding would not have been possible.
Anything I’ve ever dreamed of my wedding being- the William Mason House exceeded far beyond what I even thought was possible. This venue is a true fairytale. I wish my husband and I could have another wedding just so we could experience this amazing weekend again!

The rooms are timeless and elegant, the bathrooms covered in marble and gold. We relaxed in the showers and tubs with Molton Brown London products, and lotions! Plush robes, slippers, coffee, and WMH creamer were all provided.
We enjoyed a breakfast on the veranda, listening to the birds.
My mother, mother in law, and sisters in law, got ready at the spa for our rehearsal dinner. We booked the rehearsal dinner at the sister property, ANYA. Menu options were given to us weeks prior for the rehearsal dinner and wedding.
We enjoyed the outdoor lap pool in the spa, and felt at home on this venue.
It is truly a weekend wedding experience.
The day of the wedding, we got ready in the SPA, enjoyed the veranda and a light breakfast. The wedding coordinator handled all my vendors, I did not worry about their arrival or setup.
We did our first look pictures by the fountain in the gardens, and around the mansion. The ceremony was held at the outdoor chapel, and it faces the gardens. Our cocktail hour was on the veranda and we had passed hors d’oeuvre and a champagne tower!
The venue partnered with The Cup Bearer, who sabered Veuve champagne bottles.
Our reception was held in the tent. The tent is glamorous and elegant. It is breathtaking. Black and white timeless floor, white WMH bar, and gold chandeliers. We rented the table settings, table numbers, and table cloths from the venue.
Everything was stunning and the food was delicious with a beautiful presentation.
