About this vendor
Williston-Immanuel United Church (WIUC), is a beautiful stone church (UCC/ABC) and wedding venue located directly across the street from the Westin Harborview Hotel, also known as "The Eastland", in the West End of Portland, ME. This progressive, open, and affirming congregation welcomes all, and many interfaith and secular gatherings and concerts have been hosted on-site.
At WIUC, couples are not required to seek approval from our clergy in order to be married in our sanctuary.
The historic sanctuary has soaring stained glass windows, carved wood panelling, two grand pianos, a pipe organ, and a recent A/V system by Stone Mountain, which allows for high-quality sound, and live-streaming via two cameras.
Up to 240 guests can be seated comfortably in the Sanctuary via fully customizable arrangements of upholstered chairs and pews. There is also smaller chapel suitable for up to 80 guests. A favorite location for wedding photos is the stone cloister garden behind large wrought iron gates and you can gain access to it for your photos even if you're not getting married on site by contacting the Church Office.
WIUC is primarily a ceremony venue, but there is also a full-sized licensed professional kitchen and dining room in the attached Parish House.
WIUC offers clergy, and musicians, for a separate fee (based on availability). The rental fee includes access for a rehearsal (1-2 hours), parking in our Deering Place lot, and as much time as you need on the wedding day (typically 12 pm - 6 pm on Saturdays).

My husband is a member of the Williston Immanuel United Church, and we held our wedding ceremony and rehearsal there in August 2021. Throughout the planning process and events held...
at the church, including the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, the church staff and Reverend were extremely helpful and willing to work with us. We were able to have our ceremony and events, while still keeping people as safe as possible during the concerns of the pandemic. Kate and Reverend Reba were available for any questions or concerns and made the time to meet with me to go over the process, making everything go as smooth as was possible. We can't thank Frank enough as well for prepping the spaces for our events and guests, and for taking care of everything during and after the events. We had a beautiful ceremony in which Reverend Reba created a personal and creative message for our marriage, meeting with us in advance to get to know us and our relationship further to make it more meaningful to us and our families. The church itself is a beautiful space and Kate made sure to offer as much space as we needed to make our ceremony and experience perfect. We would highly recommend a wedding, ceremony, or other events take place at Williston Immanuel United Church as the staff and space are more than accommodating for the event needs and wants!
Working with Kate has been an absolute joy from the very beginning. She has been incredibly kind, friendly, and genuinely involved in helping me book my wedding at the church. Her ...
communication is amazing she responds quickly, clearly, and with so much warmth that it feels like I've known her for years.
Cait is the kind of person who makes the entire process feel easy and personal.
She goes above and beyond to make sure every question is answered and every detail is taken care of. I'm truly grateful for her help, and I couldn't imagine navigating this part of the wedding planning without her. Highly recommend!!
