It was such a pleasure both getting to know and work with Fonzie and Mary! Planning a DIY wedding from out of state was not an easy task to take on, but Mary and Fonzie were incred...ible from every step of the early planning process through the final stages as we were heading into the wedding day itself.
Since we were out of state, open communication was crucial in the months leading up to the wedding day. We had many long-distance questions that came up months before the wedding. Mary was not just always ready with an answer, but creative solutions!
Early on, it became quite evident just how wasteful a wedding would be. And part of my goal with our wedding was to be as eco-friendly as possible. This was not always an easy task! Mary came to the table with ideas and made the extra effort to keep the event as green as possible. And she never lost patience as my plans changed and evolved. Which they certainly did! Mary was always collaborative and supportive, throughout.
From the get-go, we also had a very challenging venue to work with. Although I didn't get a picture of all the decor without any guests, it was truly transformed for the reception. I had a view to capture and build on the raw decor of the venue. But achieving this was hardly easy. Mary and Fonzie had to troubleshoot oddly matched tables, as well as work with a unique space and venue amenities. Both made additional visits to assess the venue layout and possibilities. In the end, it looked absolutely wonderful! Despite all the hurdles, it was honestly all that I could have hoped for and more. Mary created everything we had talked about, and perfectly so! I could not have done any of this without you both, that is for sure.
Our ceremony venue also posed challenges. On visits leading up to the day of the wedding, we were faced with a beach full of people. And our wedding day was forecast for rain and wind. It took a lengthy rehearsal to determine plan B options and ceremony layouts, but on the day, it was perfect. We used W&W's black aisle runner, which matched perfectly my long black opera gloves. Mary and Fonzie also set up a tent with [canned] waters and sparkling wine and transformed the otherwise quite ugly green picnic tables into a rustic beach look. They brought water for guests and were even ready to provide snacks when I notified Mary that we were running late on the day of. It was truly perfect! What otherwise seemed like an unsightly area for a ceremony was transformed into the perfect place with an epic view. Thanks only to Fonzie and Mary!
Fonzie was also incredible with our reception. Guests loved his energy and we had no doubts with him at the helm. He even collected and returned our floral vases and plate/silverware rentals on the next day. And despite my insistence not to, Fonzie took the time to search through the trash for our lost cake topper. Honestly, I am still so touched by this. I just don't think I will ever forget his effort. That kind of care just can't be made up.
And perhaps that leads me to my final point. Both Mary and Fonzie are two of the most wonderfully authentic and caring people that I could have ever asked to work and share this moment of life with. You both did so much for us and the experience of our wedding. We will always be so truly grateful. The experience that you created has created a forever earmark in our hearts. Thank you, always!
