Constructed in 1817 Wilsons Bittersweet Barn was built prior to the civil war and was likely used as a staging area during the Battle of Gettysburg. This aged brick structure is a unique architectural masterpiece that has withstood the test of time. Expert care has been used to maintain the integrity and rustic features this spacious barn has to offer, holding a whopping 220 guests. We specialize in Weddings, Birthdays, Anniversaries, and gatherings of various sizes. m House bridal suite all to themselves. What a treat to find such a great family venue. Wilson’s Bittersweet Barn is perfect. The layout in the barn is so beautiful that it made it so easy to use our creativity and decor to have a theme wedding on October 29th. The weather was great for our outside ceremony but at Wilson’s Bittersweet Barn there was always a plan B to take inside and that was a A+plus for us. Breathtaking scenery all around the property. They also work with a lot of great vendors that they recommend to us.. Our guest can’t stop talking about it. Saying it was the best wedding they had ever been to! So Thank you again, Starner family for coordinating my crazy family. :) Accommodated all our requests and were beyond helpful in the planning process handling the celebration with expertise. From start to finish Troy and Kara were always there to answer any questions we had (and there were a lot) and give guidance so we could plan our dream wedding. We are still shocked that we can even say we felt RELAXED on our wedding day because of the outstanding 'behind the scenes' work being done by the Starners' and Amanda to coordinate everything. Our favorite memory of our wedding day was thanks to the thoughtful planning of the Starners'- as they provided a private moment for us to have our "first drink" as a married couple in the garden. We are grateful for this hardworking family and are so glad we chose Wilsons Bittersweet Barn to celebrate our special day!!

Troy and Kara were so helpful with where things should go and how the day should progress and were on hand the whole day to help out. dding). They are your go to people day of wedding (they have you show your vendors the venue prior to wedding for better flow). The add advice you can take it if you wish but things typically run smoother if you do. The venue is beautiful and they continue to put more time and thought into making it a dream come true wedding venue. They have things to rent from them which is stress free because they have them ready to go for you. Once you agree to have your wedding there you get a folder with so much great information. There is a packet of vendors that they recommend, a timeline list and the rental items list. Everything is very well organized and Kara makes sure everything stays that way. There’s many places to get married at there, so many picture opportunities that you need to pick ahead of time or you will run out of time! They were very accommodating to what we wanted for our wedding and I can’t thank them enough for helping to make our special day run so smoothly!

I wanted. Colby and Kara were both there to answer questions and to help with set up to make everything perfect the day of. Kara was a saint with getting back to me about random questions I had up till our date. And she was just helpful all the way around. Which helped with any stress we had. The venue- absolutely breathtaking. If you want an rustic old barn that has been redone to be a beautiful unique wedding venue, then this is the place to go. There are 3 different places on the property for the ceremony site, the girls get the house to get ready in, and the guys have a grooms suite attached to the barn. The cocktail hour site is under the barn, and the reception area inside the barn is gorgeous. All the lights already make the barn beautiful that it almost doesn’t need any decorations. The list of preferred vendors Kara gives you is super helpful along with checklists month by month that needs to be done to keep you on track. They did a phenomenal job with everything and we are super pleased with how everything turned out to make our wedding exactly as we pictured it. Thank you again to Troy, kara and Colby! we have access to the venue for 14 hours the day of our wedding but we also had access for 3 additional days for setup, rehearsal, and tear down. Kara did loads of event planning and coordinating for us without additional charge. Colby and Troy did a great job helping setup the venue and have done an amazing job adding substantially more landscaping and features to the property each year. Kara also provided us with tons of information to assist in our planning and even on changing my fiances name after the wedding. I could go on and on but the long and short of it is these are good people who offer hands down one of the best venues in central PA and recommend some of the best vendors. I would strongly recommend this venue which offers far more value than any other venue we looked at.

day of timeline for our wedding, providing information we never would have thought of and giving us suggestions for special dances or things we could do throughout the evening. From helping transport guests with special needs, to making sure we were on schedule the day of to making sure all our vendors showed up and knew where to go- they did it all so we didn’t have to worry about it! They even provided decor items we could rent from them for a very reasonable price making setup and tear down much easier. We were able to setup a couple days early for our event which made planning the weekend of the wedding a breeze! The venue is truly beautiful and we had so many of our guests tell us we couldn’t have picked a more beautiful place to get married. The barn is romantic on the inside with all the pretty lights and the outside is colorful and breath taking with all the amazing landscaping they have created. Our guests were able to enjoy the last hour of the night outside by the big fire pit. I can’t thank Troy, Kara and Colby enough for providing this amazing venue to make our day perfect!
