Lauren was an absolute joy to work with from start to finish. The cake she designed was beautiful and exactly how we imagined it. It tasted delicious and all of our guests enjoyed it. She even was able to make it so the lemon cake we chose was “less yellow” on the inside so it was more subtle. Would recommend her to everyone!

Lauren was such a pleasure to work with! From the start, she answered all questions we had and was always very responsive to us. She put together such a lovely cake/dessert tasting for us, just by that we knew we were going to love her design and desserts! Our wedding cake for Wingate's cake design was absolutely incredible. Not only was Lauren very easy to work with and communicate with, the cake was absolutely delicious. We had a fantastic tasting with Lauren and she was very accommodating to even some last minute requests we had that popped up. I highly recommend trying the "rose all day" cake. Lauren made a beautiful white cake decorated with real flowers from our florist. It was a dream!

Lauren is incredibly talented, professional and responsive — and she even offered delivery services to our venue, which was super helpful. We started with a really fun cake tasting at Lauren’s lovely studio, and then she designed a beautiful cake that matched our vision perfectly — and the flavors were out of this world! Our guests raved about our lavender cake with a lemon curd filling, and we can’t wait to enjoy the topper for our anniversary. I was more than satisfied and grateful for the cake Lauren made on our wedding day. First of all we had the hardest time deciding on a flavor/frosting bc they were all so delicious. We chose a 3 tier cake with 2 flavors, one was rosé all day, and the other was vanilla bean cake with creme Brule filling. The cake went so fast, everyone raved about it. She also garnished it with fresh flowers from our florist Red Velvet florist. I didn't take many pictures and didn't get my pictures from photographer yet, I only have the photos that other people took. But I would highly recommend her for a wedding cake or even a holiday cake or French macarons. I've tried it all! Everything Lauren makes is delightful:

In planning a 60th Wedding Anniversary for my In-Laws, a special custom cake was a requirement. 60 years ago, my In-Laws were married at a courthouse and did not have a wedding celebration. Having experience in executing corporate events for my employer, I knew how important this occasion would be but imagine planning a “wedding celebration” from thousands of miles away across country as a surprise - this was our situation. In truth, Lauren was one of five cake bakers that I interviewed within the MA/RI area. However, from my first contact with Lauren Wingate at Wingate’s Cake Design, I knew I had found the baker who could execute a special custom cake for the celebration. Her customer service, detailed communications, and flexibility were nothing short of exceptional! She understood the cake vision and created an edible, delicious, visual art for the event of 90+ attendees. Her passion for quality was evident with the cake tasting appointment where local family members attended in my absence. Lauren’s expertise fine-tuned the cake design and flavors during the appointment, and she was open to new ideas. The final product was amazing – her beautiful artistry coupled with a delicious creation was flawless perfection! Lauren’s cakes are made from scratch and the texture and taste of her labor is clearly evident. No commercial cake mixes or frostings here, just fresh fantastic decadent moist cake, rich creamy buttercream and in our case, a sweet lemon curd filling. The cake was so scrumptious that guests were having second servings during the party and the 60 “take home cake boxes” were all used. The cake design was beautiful, and Lauren was able to create magnificent edible art simply with conversations and a copy of the celebration invitation even matching the floral color palette. Her creation for my In-Laws was the perfect sweet ending to a special event and they were thrilled and so appreciative of Lauren’s talent. The Country Club Event Coordinator was so impressed with Wingate’s Cake Design that she discussed preferred vendor status options. Of the 100s of weddings the Country Club has hosted, the Event Coordinator commented that she had never witnessed a wedding cake baker deliver a cake in an insulated cooled cake box, which Lauren does to ensure the cake arrives in perfect condition at the venue – that is the level of quality that Lauren provides. This 60th Wedding Anniversary was more of a wedding than just a simple party. Thanks to Wingate’s Cake Design, my MiL had the “wedding cake” of her dreams fulfilling her secret desire to feel like a “bride” for a day. Bottom line, wedding celebrations are memorable, and a delicious beautiful custom cake adds to those memories. Knowing your wedding cake vision can be executed superbly should be one less concern on your wedding day. We tasted so many cakes for our wedding trying to find the perfect one and just when I was starting to feel defeated we found Wingate’s Cake Design! Our tasting was phenomenal and it was so hard to choose. We ended up getting the rosé cake with strawberry cream cheese buttercream and the chocolate cake with honey bourbon cinnamon cream cheese buttercream and both exceeded our expectations. Our guests all LOVED the cake. It was beautiful and delicious!!

Wingate Cake Design was a lucky find! They were able to fit us in with only 6 weeks until our small intimate wedding. They were so helpful and flexible. They were able to deliver the cake to our home and it looked beautiful and tasted even better. Perfection may not be of this earth, but our wedding cake from Lauren Wingate has us rethinking that old adage. On a chilly winter evening months ago she patiently and happily guided us through our options as we sampled what would ultimately become our choice of a three-tiered lemon cake w/raspberry preserves and almond buttercream, carrot cake w/cinnamon honey bourbon buttercream, and gluten free almond cake w/strawberry cream cheese buttercream. At our May wedding, we were so pleased with her attention to detail when she created a cake that was beautiful, moist, and delicious, far exceeding our expectations. The desserts made by Wingate’s Cake Design are amazing! I have used her for my kids birthday cakes and other special occasion cakes. Her macarons are full of so much flavor and have the perfect texture! Her decorating skills are amazing!

Our cake was perfect! We originally asked for one flavor then a few months before the wedding asked for a bunch of changes because we saw a post on instagram and decided we wanted that flavor- and they were so accommodating!! It was DELICIOUS! Our guests raved about it and said they had never had anything like it. We had a lavender cake with blackberry filling and cream cheese buttercream, even the lavender skeptics loved it! We have a piece in our freezer we can’t wait to have again. Plus, it was absolutely stunning. Exactly what we asked for. We couldn’t have been happier and wouldn’t have changed a single thing.

When I say that our wedding cake was the absolute dream, I mean every word! It left me speechless. Our cake was everything and more. Not only did our guests rave about how beautiful it was, but they also kept talking about how delicious the cake was too! I would recommend this bakery to anyone looking for a cake. They will be our go-to bakery for all future events. PS- My husband is already patiently waiting for our one-year anniversary to eat the wedding cake again. It has only been three months lol.

Lauren/Winegate Cake Design did a fantastic job on our special day. The tasting session was fun and we found it difficult to choose what flavor we wanted because they were all so good. The theme of our wedding was “Phantom of the Opera” which meant the cake needed a mask and of course red roses. Lauren was eager to accommodate us with the design of the cake and the flavor combinations. We wanted the cake to look like red velvet but with almond flavor instead of chocolate. We couldn’t be more delighted with the way the cake turned out. It was just the way we imagined. The cake and the macaroon tower were both a hit with everyone! Lauren was a pleasure to work with and we would certainly recommend her to anyone who needs cake or pastries for their event.

Awesome job! Special order for wedding and it was perfect! Cake and cupcakes were perfect! Special ordered 2 heart shaped cakes and 150 cupcakes. They tasted amazing! The cupcakes were enjoyed for days after and guests were amazed how fresh they were even a couple days later! All guests talked about was how amazing the cupcakes tasted!

My husband and I were pleased with how our dessert table turned out at our wedding. Wingate's Cake and Design did a seamless job delivering our desserts and setting them on our cupcake tiers. Lauren was the best! I booked with her before my wedding in 2020 but had to reschedule due to COVID and she was more than amazing and rescheduled me right away for my June 2021 wedding. I told her what I was looking for and what colors where in my wedding party and the cake came out amazing. I originally had a cake for 150 people but that was reduced to 90 people and she accommodated with no problem. I wish I could put a picture up of my cake because it was so beautiful. Also every guest loved the cake!

We absolutely loved our dessert bar at our wedding. It was so beautiful and absolutely delicious. We truly loved it and would highly recommend everyone get your wonderful desserts at their wedding also!

These cakes are delicious! My husband and I ordered a lemon cake with raspberry buttercream frosting for our wedding. Lauren was very responsive and professional throughout our whole process. She arranged a private tasting for us to try our flavors, worked directly with our florist for our cake decorations, and delivered the cake to our venue. Great all around!

Wingate’s Cake Design provided us with an absolutely beautiful wedding cake (Honey Lavender) and delicious assortment of desserts. Our wedding cake was a beautiful semi-naked cake that perfectly matched what I requested. In addition, they have a great variety of displays you can rent to make your dessert table beautiful!

Hands down the best cake that we have ever had! Lauren absolutely nailed my vision and it tasted better than it looked! We left the venue with the top tier of the cake to freeze for next year but it was SO GOOD that we didn’t have the heart to freeze it. Instead we will be ordering a fresh one next year for our first anniversary. We received countless compliments on the cake and I can honestly say, I have never enjoyed cake as much as Lauren’s. We are now customers for life!!

I’m so insanely impressed and grateful and just over the moon for the cake Lauren (the owner of Wingate's cakes) made for us. It was literally my dream wedding cake! Back when we first got engaged I made a list of my top 3 wedding priorities and cake was one of them. And we went on a very serious hunt tasting cakes because I was adamant it needed to be both beautiful AND delicious (many wedding cakes I’ve have in the past we’re pretty but tasted like nothing). After looking at and speaking to about 15 different bakeries in the area, we felt so confident when we chose Lauren for our wedding. I am so amazed how she was able to hear hear all my crazy ideas and piece them together to literally make my dream wedding cake. On our wedding day, I cried when I finally saw it. It was literally exactly what I’ve always envisioned AND it tasted AMAZING!!!! We will 100% be visiting Newport again in the future for anniversaries, vacation, etc and will definitely be coming to her again for mini versions of our same cake. Every single guest at our wedding raved about our cake, both the style and the flavor. People were standing around it taking photos all night. I’m still in awe. We ate so much leftover cake the days after our wedding. I can’t say enough good things and I am so grateful to have found Lauren!!! The color of our cake matched our theme perfectly, the detail was so on point with our style and vibe, the flowers were so dreamy and vibrant, and the height was AMAZING in creating such a grand presentation for a cake that only needed to feed a relatively small crowd. People were saying it didn’t even look real, it was so perfect. Thank you times 10000000 Lauren. Our cake was such a huge part of my wedding vision and she executed it flawlessly and I can’t thank her enough!!!!!

We had no idea where to start in looking for a cake for our wedding and based on web reviews we tried and went with Wingate's and are SO happy we did! Lauren was so great to work with and easy to get in contact with. We were able to taste multiple things at our tasting which made things easier. We went with just a small cake for ourselves to cut, which was the vanilla bean cappuccino, and very delicious. We then did the dessert bar for our guests so they could walk around with desserts or bring them home. Our guests loved all of the options (cookies, mini strawberry cupcakes and cheesecakes) and they were all gone by the end of the night! We definitely recommend working with Lauren for your wedding sweets!

Lauren was a pleasure to work with and the cake was exactly what I wanted! I changed my mind on the design a few times but Lauren was very flexible and accommodating. We had my florist bring extra flowers for the cake and Lauren attached them when she arrived, it turned out so beautiful! I also made my own nautical rope cake stand and Lauren was fully on board for this! I gave her measurements and she worked with me to make sure the stand was sturdy enough and it ended up being perfect - exactly what I envisioned. The cake itself was unreal. Bottom layer was cinnamon spice with cookie butter frosting, middle layer was vanilla bean with cream cheese frosting and top layer was chocolate peanut butter. We got a lot of compliments on it! I will definitely consider Lauren for all of my future cake needs!

My mom ordered mini cupcakes, cannoli, and a small cake from Lauren for our engagement party. The red velvet and chocolate mocha cupcakes were amazing!!!! The cream cheese frosting was spot on and the chocolate cupcakes were so moist the just melted in your mouth. The fact that they were bite size was very dangerous. The cake was decorated to look like a birch tree (which fits our wedding decor) and it was beautiful. The cake was also red velvet and again was delicious. The cannoli were also very good. We barely had any desserts left over because people ate them and were asking to bring some home. I highly recommend reaching out to Lauren and ordering from her. If we weren't having our wedding in South Carolina we would have ordered our wedding cake from her. But we will definitely use her in the future for other cake-worthy parties!

I attended a bridal show where Wingates was a vendor at. Her booth was beautiful, she was so personable and lets not forget to mention her cake samples amazing, I tried the rose and was hooked, I had to go back for an extra cake sample or 2 it blew me away I had never tasted a cake so good, fresh, and moist. Her shop is an hour away from my home town, but I knew just from that sample this was the baker for me. We set up a cake tasting and it was so beautifully set up for us. She accomodated all my special requests for the tasting and came up with some great recipies for fall flavors. We were hooked. She was so incredible to work with so professional, so prompt in responses, and beautiful work. Despite being an hour away I have since gone to her for all my baking needs a 50th birthday party, my bridal shower, wedding cake, wedding dessert bar, and a special fantasy cake for our sons birthday on our wedding day. She always made me last minute special orders of cupcakes when I was coming up to meet her or in the area. Lauren is so incredibly talented, her work impeccable, perfection to a T. I would highly reccomend Lauren of Wingates to any future bride, and any special bakery needs. She matched our wedding cake and dessert needs to our wedding theme perfectly, I asked a lot of her for our big day but no task was too big for this wonderful woman. I honestly cannot say enough how amazing all her work looks and tastes, and im a perfectionist and a huge sweets person so this was no easy task, or bride to please. But she nailed it and made it look easy. I couldnt have asked for anyone better to provide us with beautiful cakes and dessert bar for our wedding. Shes spectactular. You will be more than happy with her work. Highly reccomend her to anyone and everyone. She takes great pride in her work, and in making her customers wishes and inspirations come true. Cake was inexpensive and absolutely delicious

Lauren was the baker of my husband and I's wedding cake this past August. We could not be more satisfied with choosing her to make the most important cake of our lives. Over the past month though our wedding has come and gone my husband and I continue to hear compliments of how our wedding cake was the best cake they have ever had. We had 2 flavors for our guests to chose from in our beautiful masterpiece Lauren made. Strawberry shortcake and red velvet. Joe and I fell in love with the strawberry shortcake from our cake tasting and from the second we tasted it we knew that it HAD to be served at our wedding. Red velvet was absolutely the fan favorite at the wedding and I have had multiple guests tell me it is the best red velvet cake they have ever had. Lauren was amazing to work with and her shop is adorable. My husband and I are so impressed with Lauren, she makes EVERYTHING from scratch and manages it all herself. We highly recommend choosing Wingate cakes may it be for a birthday, wedding, or any occasion!!!
