We couldn't be happier with our choice to host our wedding at Wisp! The team at Wisp was SO helpful - they were always quick to respond to question after question, they went out of their way to accommodate our requests, and were even there day of to make sure everything went smoothly. Wisp is a full fledged venue that offers everything you need, while also providing such beautiful and unique locations for a wedding (the mountaintop and the yurts were perfect for us!). It was so great to have our lodging, ceremony, and reception all in one place - and we were also able to have an afterparty on Wisp's firepit patio.
We had a wonderful wedding. We got married at the top of the mountain and got to ride the ski lifts up to the wedding. Most of my side of the family rode up the life while my husbands family drove up the mountain. We had our reception at the Yurts and it was the perfect size for our small wedding. Wisp was easy to work with we managed to plan the wedding in just a couple of months. I highly recommend working with Wisp. Staff helped us through every step. They were also present through out the whole wedding day to help with the little details. We honestly had the perfect wedding.
Where to begin?
Our wedding process from start to finish was 5 STARS! Lisa/Larissa and the entire WISP Staff made our experience so easy and they were so thoughtful!
You would think I would stop there, but NO, On our Wedding day the rain came and ruined our chance at the Mt. Top setting we had our hearts set on, the WISP staff stepped in and made a last second change to the Yurts and it turned out BEAUTIFUL!!!
I recommend Lisa/Larissa and the WISP staff 100 times out of 100!
Thank you WISP!
Wisp Resort was the perfect place for us to be married. Lisa Ratliff and Marlena Kelly were fabulous to work with. I had lots of questions and lots of requests - they were patient, kind, and provided thorough answers to everything even if they had to check on it first. They were open to new ideas. My husband even said "we should do this again!" I knew that they cared about our wedding and it showed.
We had a mountain top outdoor ceremony, reception in the lodge, after party in the DC's bar (with karaoke), and just about all of our guests stayed at the Resort Hotel. It was an ALL IN ONE experience. The bridal suite was LOVELY with a big stone fireplace. It was great for get ready pictures, hair, and make-up. We had about 130 something guests after we had a good number of last minute COVID related declines. They can accommodate large weddings (150-200) and micro weddings. The grounds are gorgeous, especially in the Fall. All of the families had fun doing the mountain coaster, ropes course, and chairlift - all on-site! It's a very family friendly place. The hotel even accommodates dogs under a certain weight! We were so impressed that we'll be coming back for years to come! Thank you, Wisp!!
We had our wedding ceremony atop Wisp's breathtaking mountaintop site on 7/2/21. The view was absolutely BREATHTAKING and our guests could not stop talking about its beauty! Marlena and Lisa helped to coordinate the ins and outs of ceremony planning, and they were both extremely helpful and professional throughout the entire process. There were a few instances of miscommunication between Wisp's staff (mainly about chairs needed for the ceremony), but all issues were easily resolved, resulting in the day running very smoothly. Overall, I'd recommend using Wisp resort (and especially the mountaintop site) as an awesome place to host your wedding ceremony.
As a wedding videographer, I have been to Wisp Resort numerous times and have always had a GREAT experience! I especially enjoy the MOUNTAINTOP wedding ceremonies where the view of Deep Creek Lake and the surrounding areas are spectacular! Guests can choose to ride the CHAIRLIFT to the top if they like, adding to the enjoyment of their day. Here is a short HIGHLIGHT video if you would like a sneak peak of what your wedding day could look like! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUgJXQ8DXkQ Wisp Resort is a great place for weddings because everything is in one location, taking away the stress of driving all over. The staff has always done a great job at being professional, organized, and helpful to all of their guests and the food has always been delicious. My ONLY COMPLAINT is that I have always been too busy to relax and jump in the HOT TUB!
Perfect Covid Wedding!!
Lisa and Wisp resort was a life saver! Like many 2020 brides I had to postpone my large wedding in San Diego and reschedule back on the east coast so our immediate families could drive. I contacted Lisa about 6 weeks prior to our wedding date and she was able to pull together a team, make recommendations for food and local vendors. She made planning a destination wedding so simple and took away all my worries of not seeing the site prior to our wedding day. The actual day went perfect! We had perfect weather for the mountain top ceremony. All my guests loved the bonfire and s’mores post reception instead of dancing. Covid couldn’t stop us from having a small wedding with immediate family.
We absolutely loved having our wedding at Wisp! It is such a unique venue with many different options for locations of the ceremony and reception. We chose the outdoor mountaintop ceremony and the Lodge as our reception spot. It fit our style best, and made for a very relaxed yet over the top fun-filled day. We still can't stop talking about how great the entire weekend was!
The event coordinators were very helpful. They genuinely cared about our wedding and making everything go as smooth as possible. There were a few communication issues at the beginning of the planning process, but we sorted things out and had no problems for the event. They even stepped in to help wherever they were needed on our wedding day.
The costs at this resort do add up very quickly, especially because of some lack of flexibility in the food and beverage packages, but in the end we had a great experience. The food was fantastic and everything really did go very smoothly throughout all the weekend events. All our guests raved about their weekend away with us and we are still hearing fun stories from the weekend. We would certainly recommend this resort as a great wedding venue for any couple!
My wedding at Wisp was amazing! The ceremony was breathtaking at the Whitewater Pavilion. It was an unforgettable scene and made for some amazing pictures. The Mountain Mist tent was the perfect canvas to make our reception exactly what we wanted. Our guests raved about the food! The wisp team was so accommodating with all our request in the planning process. I’m so glad we made the decision to have our wedding there.
Awesome place to get married! Beautiful views! Staff was amazing and work with you to meet your budget I highly recommended the wisp for a stress free experience
My husband and I chose Wisp Resort as our all-in-one wedding venue because of the gorgeous views from the mountaintop as well as the uniqueness of holding the reception in a yurt! It was tough to plan a destination wedding, but Janel was incredibly responsive and helped us with everything we needed. Everything flowed perfectly, thanks to the dedicated staff who cared about making sure our special day was perfect! We will definitely be returning to celebrate an anniversary or two!
My husband and I got married on the top of the mountain on the most perfect Fall day! Our guests were absouluty blown away by our view! I loved the freedom we had to decorate the mountain mist tent exactly how we wanted it. Everyone raved about our Disney decor and the entire layout. All of our guest also couldn't believe how much food we had! From the cocktail hour to our late night pizza! I am a pastry chef and loved that I could bring all my own desserts for my guest to enjoy! They were very accommodating to guest that had food allergies especially myself. Janel was there every step of the way to make sure everything went perfect! Wisp was always my dream wedding venue and I would recommend them to anyone who wants to have that perfect mountain top wedding!!
We got married on the mountain top, and it was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. The ceremony and reception went without a hitch. The reception was held in the yurt since we only had about 30 guests. Food was AMAZING. Jenelle was our coordinator and she helped us through the whole process. I highly recommend this venue.
My wedding was fine, overall, but the Wisp staff is terrible. I had a ton of problems with misinformation, getting charged more than anticipated, staff doing the bare minimum, and it was a hassle to get ahold of anyone for information during the planning. I truly regret having my wedding here. The venue is okay but not worth the price at all. The hotel rooms are not nice and my room was initially wrong when I arrived. Even after the wedding I had to deal with stress from the wedding coordinator, Katie, who added things to out invoice that were not originally there and charging us more than anticipated. Do NOT have your wedding here.
We held both our ceremony and reception at Wisp Resort. The wedding coordinator was extremely helpful throughout the planning process and checked in with me quite often to make decisions, etc. (The coordinator I started out with went on maternity leave a few months before my wedding and never came back - it was a little frustrating to have to deal with multiple people in the busiest months before the big day but in the end everything worked out.) The weather on the weekend of our wedding didn't cooperate and we had to switch our ceremony venue. I'm very glad that Wisp provides several options! We ended up using the Whitewater Pavilion and it was beautiful. Our reception was held in the Mountain Mist Tent and it felt like we were indoors. The staff was extremely attentive.
Wisp Resort was hands down the best place to get married. Our wedding coordinator, Andrea, was absolutely fantastic and so accommodating. When she had to take maternity leave about a month before our wedding, Kelsey was able to step in and was just as great. I am very detail oriented and appreciate getting things done way in advance so there are no last minute worries, and both Andrea and Kelsey were there every step of the way with me and really stayed on top of things. Our first encounter with the resort was actually with Lisa who showed us the property and answered any questions we had. Despite that summer day being cold and rainy, she promised us that if we booked at Wisp, Andrea would make sure the weather on our wedding day was perfect...well we booked and she did not disappoint as it was sunny, there were puffy clouds in the sky and the temperature was around 75 degrees! It was a great day for us and the guests to take a chairlift ride up to the ceremony at the top of the mountain and for the reception in the Mountain Mist Tent. It was beautiful and the guests were so happy as well. Everyone is still raving about the food and the awesome service and many said it was the best wedding they had ever been to! Thank you so much for making our day so perfect and one we'll never forget!
Andrea Fitzwater at the WISP is incredible. She was so helpful in all helping me accommodate my guests! She was even helpful with all of my wedding questions and was very quick to return calls/emails. Great customer service! The guests enjoyed the great views from the hotel.
I booked/blocked all my guests hotel rooms here. They were always helpful and pleasant to work with! The room quote they gave us was Awesome! and were always willing to coordinate. Even found a room for my bridesmaid who had to switch hotels at the last minute and they were completely booked!
Wisp was the perfect location for our wedding! Everything went so smoothly and that is thanks in large part to our wonderful wedding coordinator, Andrea! She was there for us every step of the way and offered helpful suggestions when we needed them. She thought of every single detail and kept us on track during the weeks leading up to our wedding. The day of our wedding was perfect. Andrea did such a great job of making sure that everyone knew where they needed to be and what they needed to be doing. It was so great to not have to worry about anything.
We also really loved the ceremony site options. The golf course site was absolutely beautiful and it was nice that guests didn't have to walk too far to get to it (although Wisp had a golf cart available to shuttle guests if needed). There was a great backup site in the lodge by the fireplace in case of rain, but luckily we were able to use the golf course site. The reception area worked out really well too. We had about 130 people at our wedding and the lodge provided plenty of room so that it didn't feel cramped. The windows looking out on the slopes provided a great backdrop for the reception.
Our guests also really liked that they could stay at the lodge. No one had to worry about driving after the reception. Plus there were plenty of fun activities for everyone to take part in. We had a bonfire the night before which was a lot of fun and a great way to welcome our guests.
On top of all that, Wisp was relatively affordable in comparison to other venues we looked at. The alcohol was a little pricey since you can't take in your own, but everything else was pretty reasonable.
I highly recommend Wisp! It is a beautiful place, and Andrea will make sure you have a wonderful wedding!
MY ceremony as well as my reception were both at Wisp resort. Our ceremony took place on the mountain top with beautiful views. We then came down the mountain to the lodge for the reception. They transform the lodge into a beautiful, classy reception area. The food was excellent! We had crab imperial stuffed flounder and a prime rib carving station. The service was very good and the servers and bartenders were not in the way. It was a perfect day!
