About this vendor
A Wedding is in the Air: Many Congratulations!
And here at Wollam Gardens, we know the magic of flowers is that they’re all about LOVE.
We’re an 11-acre flower farm in Jeffersonton, VA, tucked into the rolling hills of the Northern Piedmont, and within easy reach of DC, Northern Virginia, Charlottesville and Richmond. We’ve been growing flowers for more than 30 years, and hostingweddings and receptions since 2015 in our handcrafted Pavilion, designed and built by a local artist-engineer with wood from trees on our land.
We have lots of outdoor space for special celebrations, includingHydrangea Alley and a large, gently sloping field of green flanked by enormous shade trees. Our 18th century historic farmhouse offers brides and grooms a charming space to relax and prepare, and friends and family can assemble for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Three beautiful bedrooms can sleep up to 8 people.
You and your guests are welcome to walk and enjoy the grounds of Wollam Gardens while you’re here, say hello to our staff and pet Lentil the friendly farm cat. We have loads of woody, flowering perennials, fields of blooms, and hoophouses. We have more than 30 varieties of trees, making us a Level One Arboretum.
We work year round, planting and harvesting gorgeous peonies, dahlias, ranunculus, lisianthus, fragrant basil, tulips, eucalyptus, red and orange ilex, blue ice cedar, tuberose, poppies and hundreds more varieties that shift and change with the seasons. Our Custom Floral Department can design whatever you want in the way of arrangements and installations, many with our own flowers and greenery. And when it comes to venue & events management, we have an expert staff – we’re flexible and friendly and happy to help you take your vision to reality.

The venue had 3 or 4 different coordinators cycle through over the course of our engagement with poor handover. Losing details that were in the same email chain or surprising that they weren’t stored properly. Leaving extreme delays in communications. They definitely tried to help but the process was pretty frustrating. Glad for future couples this will not be the norm. We fell in love with the venue when we attended one of their festivals. Of course flowers can be affected by weather but it would have been nice to get a heads up that the weather had caused all flowers not in the greenhouse to die or stop blooming. We were expecting to walk into the flower farm we paid for and told everyone about and we got just greenery with no heads up. Think the lack of communication was the most frustrating part.
The venue itself is beautiful but you book for the flowers. Ended up spending more money last minute with the florist to achieve our partial vision. A main benefit is being able to stay on property if you book the weekend. Do NOT recommend staying at the neighboring Airbnb they tell you about (note: they are not affiliated).
Ended up working out that our planner started working for them as the coordinator but was a bit more stressful because we were supposed to have a dedicated venue coordinator separate (which is part of the fee) from our planner but we did get exactly that. It’s a beautiful space just wish it had been what we had hoped for.
Wollam Gardens was wonderful as our wedding venue! We wanted a relaxing and fun outdoor wedding, and this was just the place for us! We felt the magic when we first visited and that never changed. It was so nice having everything all in one place the entire time! Even with rain adjusting our plans, we had a perfect day in their gorgeous pavilion, the spot that made us first fall in love with Wollam! Everyone was friendly and great to work with, the flowers are amazing, and we've received many compliments on how nice and unique the venue is. They are so flexible and easy to work with. I would highly recommend having your wedding here!
After visiting several venues and not feeling excited about any of them, we toured Wollam Gardens and immediately knew this was the place we wanted to get married! This venue has such a magical feel and they allow so much flexibility in choosing your own vendors, which was something really important to us. Our wedding day ended up being chilly and rainy, but the Wollam Gardens team worked with us to make the pavilion cozy, and even putting up with us to keep one wall of the pavilion up for our ceremony and pulling it down later for the reception. We are so grateful that despite the rain, we were able to get married in a unique pavilion instead of a tent as would have happened at most other outdoor venues. This venue is absolutely beautiful, and perfect for any couple who dreams of an outdoor wedding!
We recently held our wedding at Wollam Gardens and loved it! The grounds are absolutely stunning, and we really appreciated how the staff were so flexible and accommodating. The florist recommended to us by the venue, Hillary of Ferdinand Loves Flowers, created the floral design of my dreams. She even helped put together a flower arranging event for our guests during the cocktail hour. And the planner recommended to us by the venue, Madi Leigh Events, went above and beyond to make our wedding day dreams come true! I highly recommend Wollam Gardens for your big day.
Absolutely Perfect
Wollam is Wonderful! We had an absolutely perfect, surreal, and magical wedding at Wollam Gardens! Despite some rain, Joe and his team helped us make our dreams come true. Joe worked closely with us throughout the planning process and was an absolute delight to collaborate with (he is also a super talented musician and storyteller!). The venue is absolutely breathtaking, with infinite stunning photo opportunities. The pavilion is a magical, natural, and perfect ceremony site! Emily (the in-house florist at Wollam Gardens) was very accommodating and perfectly turned our ambiguous vision into a stunning reality. We couldn't have asked for anything more, but we certainly got it all at Wollam Gardens. Wishing them all the best with many lucky future brides and grooms!
I am a wedding planner and coordinator at Madi Leigh Events and I have seen and worked with many wedding venues in the past, and after working with this Wollam Gardens, I can not recommend them enough!! Every interaction my team and I have had with Joe, Hillary, and anyone we have come across when working at the venue has been nothing short of welcoming! This hidden gem of a venue also has an amazing floral team that works closely with their couples to make their wedding dreams come true! One of the biggest highlights is that you can rent the farm out for the whole weekend and spend more time with your friends and family! We love working with them and we hope you do too!!! :)
I am a wedding coordinator and had the pleasure of having my clients get married here in Fall 2021. Joe was always extremely responsive and accommodating and the grounds were stunning on her day. I also love that they do their own florals there for couples. I am looking forward to being there again this fall for another wedding!
Stunning grounds and beautiful farmhouse. The ~11 acre property was the site of my perfect early October COVID-friendly wedding. My bride and I worked with Hillary and Joe for almost two years planning our perfect day, and we are SO thankful for them and know for certain we couldn’t have pulled off a safe wedding without their expertise and ability to pivot on a dime. Professional, personal perfection. They worked with us to safely navigate our day, went above and beyond and exercised infinite patience with all of the last minute changes that the pandemic presented. As a wedding venue, absolutely 10/10 in all aspects; location, scenery, aesthetic, distanced, acres upon acres of lovingly cared for flowers and lush gardens, and of course Cameo Joe making his first wedding beer pong appearance and Hillary absolutely nailing my bride’s vision to a tee.
Truthfully, we can’t recommend Wollam Gardens enough.
We held our wedding at Wollam Gardens at the end of April and we loved it. The gardens were absolutely stunning, the pavilion was the perfect spot for our reception, and the staff were absolutely fantastic! Joe and Hillary were so great helping us create our vision for the big day. They were flexible with us, both leading up to and on the wedding day. Joe was absolutely amazing the day of! We had strong winds, smatterings of rain, and temperatures that dropped really quickly. Joe adjusted very quickly and helped ensure our day went as smoothly as possible. We could not have asked for a more beautiful spot to celebrate with family and friends! I highly recommend Wollam Gardens for your big day!!
I got married at Wollam Gardens at the end of September, and I could not be happier. The venue is stunning, the people are incredible, and the feel of the venue just leaves you smiling. Everyone at Wollam was helpful and SO accommodating. We had to change the ceremony location last minute due to rain, and they pulled out all the stops to make sure that the change felt like an upgrade, rather then a last minute weather decision.
Our point of contact was always ready to chat, and had a great list of local vendors that we could use. This was her last wedding season, but Arrin was probably the most kind, warm, and helpful person we could have possibly asked for to help us through our wedding planning process. This was how the entire staff at Wollam was, however, so no matter who you end up working with, you'll be well taken care of!
We also elected use Wollam for our florals. You will not be disappointed if you go this route! They are completely reasonably priced, and create stunning designs. Claire was a dream to work with, easy to communicate with and so generous in her time and advice. The installation we ordered was stunning, the table flowers were stunning, the bouquet was incredible. I felt like I was in a dream.
I would recommend Wollam to anyone looking for florals or a wedding venue. They made our day incredible <3
Wollam Gardens is an incredibly beautiful venue to have a wedding. They planned the pavilion specifically to have weddings, and you can tell the venue is thoughtfully planned. For example, every column (which is fallen poplar from their property) has two electric outlets hidden in them. Of course they do their own flowers, which were absolutely beautiful. Hillary went the extra mile to make our venue stunning with her excellent column designs and table top arrangements. She even pinned our boutonnieres on us! Arrin, the venue manager, is incredible. She is easy going, responsive, and flexible. Planning a wedding can be stressful, but Arrin and Hillary made it feel like having a wedding at home.
Our wedding could not have gone better, and we have Wollam Gardens to thank. Arrin was so incredibly helpful and patient in guiding us through the process. But even more important, she and the Wollam team were flexible and open-minded in allowing us to create the wedding of our dreams. Roasting a lamb on a spit over an open flame? No problem. Having friends pitch tents on the field to camp overnight? Sure thing. A bonfire and singalong until 3:30 in the morning? We'll help you get the fire started.
It was amazing to have full run of this gorgeous farm on our wedding day and night. We held our ceremony on one of the fields, our reception under the pavilion (and a tent we rented), our cocktail hour on the gravel nearby, our donut cart next to that... It was like a big playground that we could fill with all our favorite toys.
We've been to far more expensive weddings that weren't nearly as fun or festive or beautiful, because things had to be done a certain way. Wollam allowed us to do things our way, and then helped us through the process. And we are so grateful.
Wollam Gardens was the very first venue we visited after getting engaged, and even though we saw a handful of other venues, we came back to them right away. Arrin was kind and helpful from the very beginning, giving us a tour of the farm and allowing us to come back and walk the grounds for planning purposes at any time. She helped to provide possible layouts for the best use of the beautiful pavilion and spearheaded clearing out a beautiful section of the farm on top of a hill for our ceremony. Everyone we spoke with at Wollam was wonderful and helped facilitate a perfect day. On the day-of, the forecast called for heavy rain and Arrin, the night before the wedding worked to help us secure an additional tent as the whole wedding was to be outside. After all, it did not rain and we did not need/use the tent, but their willingness to help us make everything perfect regardless of weather was so great. Having use of their two guestrooms in the historic farmhouse to get ready and use throughout the day was so helpful, too--and made for some beautiful "getting ready" photos! We worked with Hillary at Wollam for all our florals as well, and she was so helpful, making my vision come fully to life and working within our limited budget as well. I was blown away by how gorgeous all our flowers were (as were the guests!). The bouquets, centerpieces and pavilion installations were so striking, even among the natural beauty of the flowers growing all around our reception on the farm. Wollam Gardens was the most incredibly beautiful backdrop I could imagine for one of the best, most meaningful days of our lives. We were so proud to have family and friends traveling from all over the country to see us get married on this farm and share our joy. Thank you!!
