Wood Fire Food

We recently had the pleasure of having Wood Fire Food cater our wedding, and we couldn't be happier with our choice. The food was nothing short of spectacular. Countless guests have expressed to us that it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding. We experienced inclement weather during the first half of the wedding, and Dan and team kept the fire burning to deliver an even better taste and culinary experience than promised. What truly set Wood Fire Food apart was their exceptional day-of service. During the period of inclement weather, the staff adapted and made everyone feel calm during the storm. This kind of high-quality service in addition to the food is what sticks in our minds about the event. We did have a few unforeseen challenges, as is with any wedding planning process. There was difficulty with the tent vendor as the ceremony tent was smaller than expected and couldn't accommodate our guest headcount, and the reception tent did not come with siding even though we had planned for bad weather on the wedding day. Additionally, there was some back and forth on items being invoiced during the two week leadup to the date that created some stress, but was resolved swiftly. All this said, it truly was an exceptional day and the happiest of our lives thanks to Wood Fire Food. Thank you, Wood Fire Food, for making our special day even more memorable!

Unfortunately, WFF was a huge let down on our wedding day and I would not recommend them to others. While the food was great, the overall experience was not. Here were the main issues: 1. Poor communication – it took multiple emails & calls to get answers to basic questions (finalized menu, alcohol options, rental orders, final cost estimates). This caused a lot of stress/uncertainty in the weeks before our wedding 2. Ran out of red wine – as the F&B experts, we trusted that they would make the correct estimates and they didn't – no reason not to bring more than enough wine as anything unopened could have been used at future events 3. Tent too small – we had 2 long tables and the people seated back-to-back from the other table could barely get in and out of their chairs, see photo 4. Unorganized – I kept checking our contract & invoices because of multiple discrepancies. Ex: they billed us after our wedding for an item that was already paid for, initially told us we’d be charged extra for bread service), only proposed 2 passed app options (reminded them we get 3), only proposed 1 dessert option (reminded them we get 2). Little things, but felt very unorganized. Based on the price and prior reviews, we had high expectations for WFF and thought it would be worth the premium. Sadly for us, it was not. I will reiterate that the food was great so it’s unfortunate they didn't execute in the other equally important areas. My mom spoke with Dan after the wedding to make him aware of our disappointment. He took it in stride and proposed that my husband, my parents, and I come for a complimentary stay at one of their B&Bs on our anniversary weekend and they’d prepare dinner one night as a make-up for falling short. We were grateful for this offer and confirmed a date back in Feb. Long story short, it became a much more complicated process than expected. We followed up multiple times to try to get an answer on where we'd be staying. Less than 2 months before our scheduled date, Dan finally responded with a few single-family rental properties and asked if we could potentially change our dates to the following week since he now had to travel for a consulting project. We asked to stick with the weekend we had all agreed to months ago as the new date didn’t work for us and my parents, who don't live in the area, had already made travel plans. He responded that we could go stay at one of the houses but we’d have to find another date for the dinner because he was no longer available. It had turned into a completely different thing than what we had been looking forward to and it was disappointing that Dan didn't prioritize this commitment when we had all turned down other plans to make this work. I decided to just cut our losses and call off the whole thing. It became a frustrating reminder of the shortcomings we experienced before and during our wedding.
